India Palace Iselin, NJ
India Palace has great food. All the things indian food should be, aromatic and spicy full of flavor. The prices are good. Ive had many things from the menu. The ones that are standouts are the Biryani's , particularly the chicken, the chicken 65 appetizer and the breads. Their naans are great . I love their stuffed naans most notably the chicken tikka stuffed naan. The downside of the restaurant is that it is a dump. It is housed in an old dairy queen and the decor is at best shabby. They have a buffet offered daily for about $6.00. If you can look past the decor you will get a great meal, just get takeout instead of dining in.
Paradise Biryani Pointe Edison, NJ
I ordered take out of garlic naan and chicken biryani. They did not give me any eating utensils, luckily i was going home anyway. The naan tasted weird and i could not eat it and the chicken was over done and under spiced. I eat alot of Indian food and this was quite possibly the worst ive had. I had to go to the restroom right after my meal was done indicating poor kitchen sanitation. My stomach has been upset all day. the raita was filled with raw onion and was not enjoyable, they gave another sauce that i could not even identify, it was awful.Run away from this place donot walk run!! The restaurant staff did not talk to me like waiters and waitresses should to make them feel at home, i was the only customer in the place during my wait. They did however argue loudly in the hallway outside of the kitchen which was unpleasant to hear.
Pithari Tavern Edison, NJ
One of the best for your money places around. If you like greek food and you like octopus and perfectly cooked seafood this is your place. If you go when the weather is nice they have an outdoor area that really makes dinner there great, but dont let that stop you if its winter. they also have a small shop next door with greek wine and other greek products you will like for sure.
Arirang Sayreville, NJ
Its a bennihanna clone but bennihanna is better.
Bamboo China Woodbridge, NJ
Good chinese food. they dont make anything outside of the standard chinese menu you see in every restaurant but their food is better than most takeout joints.
Chengs Kitchen Woodbridge, NJ
Ive had nearly everything on the menu. Its average chinese food. I stop here when i have no time for dinner and im not in the mood for chicken or pizza
Majestic Cafe Piscataway, NJ
Great new place, they do breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have only been ther for dinner about 6 times now. tonight i had the oxtails with sides of collard greens and mac and cheese. i Have also had the curried goat, the jerk chicken as entrees and i have had the potato salad , french fries and mashed potatoes as sides. Everything was great. The jerk chciken is the best that i have ever had. It was so good that it is very hard to go in there and order something else when i know that fabulous chicken is in there calling my name. the collards are very good, the mashed potatoes are the creamiest ive ever had and the mac and cheese is great. the best thing about the mac and cheese is that they donot salt it so that you can add to your liking which is good for people who want to avoid salt. Run dont walk to Majestic cafe. The people are very friendly and the service is good. The have coupons for half off the second entree in the local paper all of the time too.
Sunny Palace East Brunswick, NJ
This is one of those places that tries to go beyond the average chinese menu, who tries not to have that same boring menu you see in every local chinese takout restaurant. Unfortunately they dont suceed in the food department. The food was less than average at best. The service was not very good and overall i would have to say i would not go back. Its a nice place, they have a clean visually beautiful place but i dont eat the decor i eat the food and my Dragon and phoenix was plain awful.
Skylark Diner Edison, NJ
This place is great. They a nice big lounge area with a great reputation for making great drinks. I saw alot of mixing going on, i just had stella artois. I strated my evening with Thai roasted garlic shrimp and I couldnt have made a better selection, they were awesome. I couldve sat there and ate those all night long. They had a nice flavor from the thai spices and a little char on them that really made them pop. i wish they wouldve served a side of some of the basting sauce. For my entree i had short ribs over pasta in a barolo sauce. they were off of the bones and minced which was easy to handle...good move chef!! it was rich and had a rich buttery flavor underneath the barolo sauce. my only two critisms are the pasta was long ribbons which made it hard to eat. they should slice them in half and the bread they served was inedible, go back to the drawing board on the bread it tasted stale or if it was a frozen product. dont let the critisisms get you down this place is a must do!!!

Chris Michaels Steakhouse Woodbridge, NJ
This restaurant has both good and bad going on, the bad is everything is ala carte and a little too expensive, they force you to use valet parking and the service can be a little inattentive at times. The good is they have a really nice wine list thet one can find a bottle at any price, a nice clean place, quality food and its a great place for a date. When I was there i had a huge porterhouse steak, it was good but I couldve had that same steak somewhere else for less money and i had an appetizer of Osso Bucco , it was a melt in your mouth best osso bucco that I have ever had. I will go back again just to have that.
Urban Spice Iselin, NJ
Beware of some of the reviews you see, mostly the negative ones. to me, it seems like the competition leving these bad reviews. I go to all kinds of restaurants and trust me if somebody thinks this restaurant is bad they are not being truthful. i have no stake in this place, i donot know the people who own it. this is the best indian place in that town.
Sapporo's New Brunswick, NJ
We started with calamari tempura, deep fried oysters , a spider roll, spicy tuna rolls, octopus and eel sushi and of course a Sapporo. To me anything tempura is nothing special but it wasnt greasy so i liked it, the sushi was great tuna was nice and spicy and the spider roll was great. the eel was not that good, ive had better. The oyster were rolled in panko and were just right. We got miso soup and a salad with the citrus dressing, both did not disappoint. For dinner Mike had the shrimp and scallop teriyaki, which was not on the menu. They happily complied and made it for us when asked. Mike sucked it up so im guessing it was good. I ordered the steak and shrimp teriyaki. The steak was a bit over done for my liking but overall very tasty. I used the bowl of rice to suck up all of the teriyaki sauce and onions that were on my plate.I ate like a slob and with my entertainment card got $25.00 off the bill.
Panico's Italian Restaurant New Brunswick, NJ
Dined at Panicos last night. Both the previous review and Zagats 2009 said that Panicos had superior service, I did not get that experience. They were average, not great but not bad either. I tend to avoid italian restuarants because many lack imagination on the menu. Panicos is one of those restuarants. Dont get me wrong the food was good, they served classic italian fare and i was pleased but they did not wow you or offer any modern twists etc. I started my meal with carpaccio, it sat is a red bell pepper mayonaisse and was rolled with arugula and shaved parmesan cheese. It was decent but again did not stand out.The sauce had not punch. I had Osso buco for my main course on orzo and gravy. It was good but ive had better.Zagats said it was incredible, Again, if your looking for the classic italian meal you would have found it but I was bored by it. I was disppointed that salads were ala carte. They had a nice beer selection and a very nice wine by the bottle selection but the offerings by the glass was poor, all cheap wines if you wanted a good wine you had to buy a bottle and since my dining partner did not drink wine I opted for beer. They gave us some tasty bread and olive oil for dipping, that was nice. The portions were not good enough as i left hungry. across the street they have a panicos pizza, brick oven style. I went over there and brought home one sausage pie and one mushroom pie . since i was still hungry i sampled both at home and the mushroom pie was really good, i wouldve like more mushrooms though. the sausage on the other pie was like a sage bomb breakfast sausage, i did not like it.The only thing i would oreder again was the mushroom pie.
Iberia Peninsula Restaurant Newark, NJ
Myself and a guest arrived to the restuarant at 500pm and pulled into the parking lot(500 spaces) got a spot in front and went into the restaurant, we were seated within seconds. They give you a voucher when you pay for parking, you get reimbursed when you pay the check. They brought out bread and salads with the menus and asked for our drink order. The service was crisp and prompt all night, the restuarant was clean and the aromas were excellent. I ordered a portuguese cabernet. Mike had no appetizer but i ordered the garlic shrimp, they were very good Ive had better but i have certainly had worse. For dinner i had the pork and clams and mike had the marascada in green sauce. When the entrees hit the table i was jealous of mikes choice, the marascada was a thing of beauty, huge portion and very tasty...so im told. My pork and clams was very good as well though i would have liked more clams. Dipping the buttered bread into the sauces of the garlic shrimp and later in the pork and clams was an added bonus. We skipped desert and coffee because we were stuffed. I would go here again for sure.Go here for dinner before you go to the arena for a game or concert, it is a short walk to the arena.
Pop's Place Woodbridge, NJ
Pops is by far the best breakfast in Woodbridge. I eat there regularly. Some of my favorites are the bacon, egg and cheese sandwhich and The western omelet with swiss cheese. All of the ingredients are freshly chopped as you wait. The fried potatoes are also cooked to oreder and are delicious.I wish they would use link sausage but they use patties. The pancakes are gret too.Give it a shot you will not regret it.
Reo Diner Restaurant Woodbridge, NJ
Stotpped in and ordered a western omelet with swiss cheese, potatoes, white toast and a side of sausage. I donot like the patties so when they said they have links i was happy. I normally eat breakfast at Pop's Place on Rahway avenue in Woodbridge located next to rugs and riffys but they were on vacation this week. The whole thing cost me $12.50 and it didnot even come close to the Pops food. I think I will wait for pops to come back. That same meal wouldve cost me $10.00 and tasted ten times better at Pop's
Le Peep Edison, NJ
I had heard for years how good the food was at Le Peep so we decided to go with a family member who swears by this place and it was nothing to get riled up about. My son had pancakes and sausage and said he like Ihop better and I had some kind of southwestern type egg dish with corned beef hash and it was average at its best. The wait staff was friendly and efficient the restaurant was spotless so if you love it keep loving it I think I will try somewhere else.
Chicken Galore Woodbridge, NJ
Chicken Galore is my go to dinner when I am running late or don't want to cook.Their chicken is great, and the ribs are equally as good except for the last time I had them, but after 30 years of feeding me great take out I can overlook it. Side dishes like potato skins with bacon, poppers etc are great They always have coupons in the papers. The only thing I would ask them to do is put a little more effort into the buffalo wings, all they do is put tabasco on them, which leaves them average at best. I would love it if they would start selling soft shell crab sandwhiches.
Urban Spice Iselin, NJ
I have been here and reviewed them for dinner and their food is delicious. This review is for their lunch buffet. As always the food was delicious. Fresh spread of vegetables, pickled onions , chana and other dishes, they had a creamed corn soup that was really good, tandoori chicken , murgh chicken, lamb rogan josh as well as vegetarian choices. The only downside was when the bill came. It was $15.00. Most buffets in the area top out around $8.00 and are just as good. In fact friday at Tawa on Stelton road is $11.00 and is better. The restaurant is clean, the food is great, the service was a little slow this time, I had already finished my first plate of 2 when they brought out my bread. They were very attentive when we came in for dinner last month but I left feeling a little neglected this time. Except for bringing my bread the only other time my waiter came back to my table was to scoop up the tip.Make no mistake, I love the food and have always recieved good service before.
