| Franco's By the Bay | Norfolk, VA | |

We tried them on what should have been their best night serving food.
We went as a party of four on a Friday night at 715pm.
I had heard good things about this place, so I wanted to put them to the
test on a busy night.
An appetizer, and entree's for 4 people drinking water ran a bill
of $55 including the tip.
HIGH VALUE at this restaurant, however our food was very bland. Dishes
we ordererd was the Baked Ziti, Spaghetti w/marinara, Calzone, and
Chicken Francese (sp?). Everything except the chicken dish was well
worth the $. The Chicken dish had a $14 price tag on it, but was much less
of a portion to any of the other dishes.
Our waitress was nice and I enjoyed the complementary fresh hot loafs
of bread. NO OIL or VINEGAR to go along with the bread however, just whipped
butter.

One of Old Town's Smallest Delis with one of the Largest Breakfast
Menus.
Mon-Fri: 7am-330pm (Breakfast 7-11) Saturday: 8am-3pm (Breakfast served all day) Sunday: 8am-1pm (Breakfast served all day)
From the breakfast menu you can enjoy Sandwiches, Omelettes, Wraps,
French Toast, Oatmeal (seasonal), pancakes, and Eggs cooked to order.
I grabbed this spot as I heard it was a great little whole in the wall for
locals.
For breakfast I ordered on the menu what is called "DeLox Accommodations"
For $6.95, you get a thick slab of cream chease, with a slicke of onion,
tomato and smoked salmon on your choice of bagel. This sandwich was
OUTSTANDING.
As I was there enjoying my breakfast everytime someone came in the door
they were greeted with a warm hello and called by their name. So you can
tell this is definately a local hang out spot with a friendly atmosphere.
Across from me sat an architect who was drawing their latest layout
on paper while enjoying a huge thick blueberry pancake.
Around the counter at bar stools sat several of the retired locals discussing
the previous nights football game. Adorning the walls are sports memorbelia,
along with family and friends.
Don't expect to show up here and get a seat. There are about 4 tables
to sit at, and the counter area with bar stools fills up very quickly.
I lucked out and got there just before people started showing up and
was lucky enough to get a table. This restaurant sits just a few blocks
off the water and if this restaurant is packed, just get it to go and head
down to the water for a beautiful view.

| Higher Heights Caribbean | Norfolk, VA | |

Don't expect anything authentic from here except for the time
it takes to get your food.
The food was very substandard to anything carribean, but you will be
able to get your share of exotic taste whether you like Oxtail or Curry.
Save your $$ and eat elsewhere.

We attempted their "Famous BBQ"..
Let's just say don't bother with going to the restaurant and
ordering their BBQ. I hope their claim to fame isn't their BBQ because
I would recommend elsewhere if it was.

Don't walk, RUN the OTHER direction if you ever see this restaurant.
They claim to have authentic mexican food, but the taste is nowhere
near mexican food.
This place would be better if they litterally named it "Gringo
Food". The food is bland, and way overpriced.
We went with a party of 2 and started off trying their "Queso Fundido".
Now if this was authentic mexican food, they would have used actuall
cheese and melted it in a small skillet then mixed chorizo throughout.
What they did was get the can powdered cheese and put small amounts of
generic chorizo and throw a $6 price tag on it... Major rip off, and generic
tasting.
Next we tried a simple mexican dish...Fajitas.. We ordered their Texas
Fajitas for 2. $20 price tag for this dish... Real simple...Basic Mexican
dish..Shrimp, Chicken, Beef, onions, bell peppers... AND THEY SCREWED
THAT UP!! Bland, no taste at all..The chicken and the beef had no flavor...
To drink we tried their Margaritas...ONCE again HUGE disappointment.
They put so much margarita mix into their drinks you can't taste
the flavor of the tequila at all.
I would rather cook for someone who wants mexican food at my house, then
to have you go to this restaurant and waste your money.

| Red Lobster | Chesapeake, VA | |
|
We decided to try this place out during their "endless shrimp"
promotion.
Our service was outstanding by our waitress, and the food was average.
Other than going through 7 extra orders of the shrimp servings I definately
don't think that Red Lobster is ever worth the price that they charge.
If you love seafood then please look elsewhere for great seafood.

| Pancake House | Norfolk, VA | |

I took my family of four to this restaurant on a Sunday morning about
11am.
I watched the waitress serve the wrong food to the table next to us. She
set the plate down and the customers didn't even touch it. The waitress
realized the mistake and immediately took the food back. She took the
food and placed it into the busboys dirty dishes tray instead of taking
it to the kitchen where it could be served to someone else. To me that
speakes volumes of the type of quality that is put into the care of the
customer at this restaurant.
I ate the Grecian Omelet and it was awesome!! My wife had the Western
Omelet and it was a generous size loaded out. It was definately worth
the price that is listed on the menu.
Since it was named as a Pancake house we chose to have to try the pancakes...We
tried just the plain ole Buttermilk pancakes with our meals, and the
restaurant was definately named appropriately. They are good, definately
better than IHOP.
They have gourmet pancakes as well that range from Apple to Sweet Potato.
This place was named Best Breakfast in 2009 by the Virginian Pilot for
the city of Norfolk and from what I have seen so far, it deserves it.

| Happy Buddha | Corpus Christi, TX | |

We attended this on a Saturday evening expecting to get their during
a good high occupancy time. When we pulled into the parking lot it almost
looked as if they were completely closed. No lights outside were on
showing that they were even open. I looked through the window and seen
that there were lights on inside over the buffet food.
Well we gave them a shot anyways. One lady at the cash register greeted
us while sitting down reading a magazine, another teenage boy sat in
the back (which turned out to be our waiter) staring at us.
Eventually he came over to ask us for our drink order. We just grabbed
food from the buffet, and didn't even attempt to look at a menu.
The food was ok, but you could tell it had been sitting there for quiet
awhile, and was only "heat lamp" warm.
For the price of their buffet (our tab was $15 for 2 adults, and that is
ordering water to drink) I would recommend just hitting the Asian Buffet
over on SPID. Allot more bang for your buck over there.

| Herbert's Taco Hut | San Marcos, TX | |
|
We caught them on their busiest day of the year which is the day afther
thanksgiving!!
The kitchen staff showed up late, but they allowed us to come in and wait
until they could get someone to work the kitchen. (20 minute wait)
I grabbed the Chicken Fajita Tacos for breakfast along with the Egg
& Country Sausage. My guest grabbed the Chorizo Mexican Plate
that was just Chorizo, Egg, and Refried Beans.
The beans were horrible, but the service, and atmosphere made up for
it. I would definately want to try this place again when they have the
right "kitchen staff" cooking.
I would recommend elsewhere for breakfast such as the pancake house
down the street, but I will be trying these folks again for lunch and
dinner as allot of people talk good about this place.

| Marco's At Lamar | Corpus Christi, TX | |

Overpriced, and understaffed.
You will get more bang for your buck out of Ramano's!!
|
||
| Original Smokehouse Country Ki | Hallettsville, TX | |
|
Horrible....Customer Service completely sucks.
The only time we were given attention on our meal was when it came time
to pay.
Really, do not waste your time here.
Also...they claim to be a smokehouse....there is NO BBQ on the menu
at all!!!

| Floyd's Christian Restaurant | Corpus Christi, TX | |

CASH ONLY
Definately a good spot to sit and have a bite to eat. I recommend it, but
it is not one of those "Must Have's" when in Corpus.
Very friendly waiting staff, with an awesome breakfast!!!!

| Longhorn Steak & Ale | Corpus Christi, TX | |
|
Just by the name of it, you can probably already guess a lot about the
Longhorn Steak and Ale even if you've never stepped foot inside.
There are steaks, chicken, some seafood on the menu. There are oversized
steak knives placed at every setting to cut into that flame-licked
steak, chicken or seafood with. And there's the requisite Western
decor - from the barbed wire samples stapled to a Texas cut-out plaque
to the handgun hung from a sign that says "We don't dial 911"
- hung on the walls and placed about the place.
That kind of comfortable predictability, however, draws a regular
crowd, especially among senior citizens. It's also the end result
of an extensive renovation to this popular Central Corpus Christi
eatery that was unveiled in May by local owner Nick Sissamis.
Gone are the deep booths and the three-seater bar. That old red, wall-to-wall
pile carpeting, circa Nolan's steakhouse (the building's
former occupant), has been pulled up and tossed into the trash bin of
another decade.
In their place is an all-new decor, with clear-covered wooden tables
and with tastefully covered padded wooden chairs pulled up at each.
An earth-tone pile carpet now covers the floor. And the knick-knacks
hung on the walls, some of which were brought in and donated by loyal
and regular customers, are all new too.
But perhaps the most striking difference is the new bar area, which
came with about 2, 000-square feet added to the dining area during
the renovation. With enough space to seat about 15 guests comfortably
at its wood and brass bar, the Longhorn Steak and Ale is no longer stretching
to be called a steak and ale restaurant.
On a recent dinner visit, we opted for a traditional house favorite,
The Longhorn Special, a 12-ounce center cut top sirloin steak. We also
tried a traditional South Texas dish, the quail special.
The waitstaff, dressed in chinos and matching polo-style shirts,
was casual but very attentive, and quick to both take our orders and
refill our iced teas.
Each meal came with a house salad and a tiny loaf of fresh-baked wheat
bread served on a small cutting board.
The salads were good, with mixed greens served on a chilled glass plate
with onion, cherry tomatoes and croutons.
The quail was excellent - smoky, tender and moist. The two small birds
were splayed out spread eagle across an oversized platter, hot off
the grill that dominates the central dining area. On the side were a
small dish of skin-on mashed potatoes that literally tasted like my
mother's and another dish of sweet potatoes, which were the vegetable
of the day.
Of note, the platter of quail was soon followed by a finger-dipping
bowl of warm water with a lemon wedge. Separating the deliciously delicate
flesh from the tiny bones of this bird is no tidy task, but one well worth
it.
The steak, while not certified Angus, was good, cooked medium as ordered,
and served with those wonderful mashed potatoes and green beans on
the side.
Steaks, according to the restaurant staff, make up more than 60 percent
of the restaurant's sales.
The key here is the fine flavor cooked into the slabs of meat by an open-flame
-much like the Longhorn Steak and Ale itself: nothing extravagant,
just good, basic eating with a bit of a flair that has passed the test
of time.

| Pier 99 | Corpus Christi, TX | |
|
Great Food, Great Atmosphere, and you better show up before 730pm if
you want a seat.
They need a faster kitchen, and more waitresses. That is my only complaint.
Expect slow food service as the waitresses try their best, but there
just isn't enough of them!
A must see place to eat at, as long as you're not in a hurry to eat!

| Oceana Grill | New Orleans, LA | |
|
Wow....I mean honestly that is all that needs to be said about this place.
Word of advice get their before 7pm to get a seat.
The service was very curteous and fast!
I ordered the "Taste of New Orleans", and a lady who was accompanying
me ordered one of the daily specials, "Mardigras Pasta".
Both were awesome, and we were stuffed and could not finish the meal
completely! We will definately be stopping here next time we are in
New Orleans.

| Bishops Family Buffet | Panama City Beach, FL | |

Adults = $21.95 Kids 8-12 = $10.95 Kids 4-7 = $5.95 3 & Under = FREE
I went, and tore up the Crab Legs....I made sure to get my money's
worth. I didn't try anything else on the menu, but it all sure looked
good!!
I was craving some crab legs, and they were definately worth it.

| Captain Anderson's Restaurant | Panama City Beach, FL | |
|
This is a highly advertised restaurant. They advertise that they've
won various awards, and have various celebrities that line their interior
walls with photographs of thanks and praise regarding their food.
I must have eaten their on an "off night" because the food
was not as good as I was expecting from reading all of the reviews, and
praise. To me it seemed to be more "hype" than anything.
Avoid the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, as it is $7.99 and all you
get is 2 of them!
We ate here with a party of 5. I took 3 of my players with me, and they ate
their entire meal and still was wanting more as the portions nowhere
filled them, or myself up.
This place was packed with people, and the wait time was roughly 45 minutes
when we showed up on a Thursday night at 8pm. Each time we go by the restaurant
it is packed with people waiting outside to get in.
I would suggest spending your money elsewhere, especially with the
other restaurants that Panama City Beach has to offer.

||
| Casa De Fogo | Panama City Beach, FL | |
|
They claim their famous for their Mojito's but their mojito's
tasted more like a crappy "burrito".
The food was good, and the waitstaff was sub-par. The night we went it
seemed as if the entire waiting staff was on their first or second night
of working there.
The food however was well worth the money, just avoid buying alcoholic
drinks here as the bar tender seemed to be "lost" when it
came to making drinks.
I ate with a party of 4 right when they opened which isn't until 5pm.
The best item I ate was the shrimp, and the parmesan pork was great.

| Kiko's Mexican Food Restaurant | Corpus Christi, TX | |
|
Average Mexican food. There is nothing that really hits that "authentic"
spot here at Kiko's.
This is a very "Tex-Mex" style of food, and you get allot
for your buck. Value wise the food is worth the price for the quantity
that you get. Expect to wait in line every time you go here, and if you
don't wait in line consider it a lucky night for you.
This place is usually packed, and is a usuall spot where locals bring
their out of town guests.
With Corpus being a Hispanic Majority city you would expect better
mexican food in the area, but this "Tex-Mex" stop takes
the winner by many people for best Mexican food in the Corpus area.
|
||
| Cici's Pizza | Corpus Christi, TX | |
|
Get a bang for your buck, if you eat allot from this place. Best thing
involving CiCi's, is that you can place pizza made to order the
way you like it.
This pizza sure ain't worthing driving all the way across town
for, and it sure doesn't beat Pizza Hut, Domino's, or Papa
Johns, but it can fill up your tummy when hungry.
