| Clear Springs Restaurant | Midland, TX | |
|
Great atmosphere, good food, excellent service and reasonable
prices all combine to make this slightly hard-to-get-to-restaurant
worth the effort. Whether you order strictly from the menu or
combine your food with a drink from the well stocked bar, Clear
Spring Restaurant will satisfy you.

| Basin Bay Seafood Restaurant | Odessa, TX | |
|
I don't know if no one knew it was dinner time or not in Odessa
the evening I tried Basin Bay, -- the place was almost deserted.
Getting a table was no problem. The fried shrimp I ordered was
portioned well for the price, but it was a bit overdone. The side
dishes tasted better to me than the shrimp. Service was so-so.
I guess the waitress just couldn't get enthused due to the
lack of business. I won't discourage any one from coming
here, but I do no highly recommend it either.

| Gattiland | Odessa, TX | |
|
Gattiland has a well stocked salad bar that far outstrips the
quality of the pizza. Don't expect much in the way of high
quality from the pizza and you won't be disappointed. They
do have a large game room for after dinner entertainment. For
me, the game room was much better than the meal. I'll be back
to Gattiland, but it will be for the salad bar and the game room...
not the pizza.

| On the Border | Midland, TX | |
|
While I understand that any restaurant can have a bad night, I
was startled with how bad On The Border was. Though we were seated
immediately, that was the last time we did not have to flag down
a waiter. The complimentary chips and salsa were the best items
we ate there that night. I have eaten Mexican food all my life,
but I have only eaten food that bad once at a restaurant in New Mexico.
And it wasn't just me. My wife and son neither one liked what
they were served. We flagged down a waiter (again), got our bill
and left. We won't be back. No, we didn't go anywhere
else that night. Our appetites were pretty well ruined.

| Amigos Restaurant | El Paso, TX | |
|
I had to be talked into going here. Not because I had heard anything
bad about the place, but because I had somewhere else in mind to
go.
I'm glad I relented.
The atmosphere is great, the food was good, and the drinks from
the bar were not skimmpy in the use of the alcohol of choice. The
only thing lacking was the service. It was slow and sporatic.
Still, I would recommend the place to anyone.

| Joe's Crab Shack | Lubbock, TX | |
|
Where else do you get a floorshow and great seafood? I loved the
casual atmosphere. The food was great ( I love crab anyway you
can fix it). And of course we couldn't leave until my wife
bought a couple of t-shirts from the gift kiosk. Overall, I left
with a pleasureable dining experience and a few butter stains
on my clothes.

| Bless Your Heart Restaurant | Lubbock, TX | |
|
If the focus of this restaurant is on healthy dining, I certainly
couldn't tell by the tatse of the food. The atmosphere is
definately upscale. Many suits and ties were seen as well as a
few of the blue jeans crowd. The lighting is low, the drinks from
the bar were great, and the service was good. This is a place that
I would recommend to take a date, celebrate anything, or just
relax and have a fine meal.

| Taco Villa | Midland, TX | |
|
Typical of the chain. The store is clean and the service is fast
but a bit inaccurate with the processing of the order. They will
correct any problem they make in short order. The food is ok, and
the portions are reasonably large for the price paid.

| Catfish & Co | Odessa, TX | |
|
An all right place to eat as long as you absolutley have to have
something from the water. They offer other fair also, but it is
also run of the mill. But with this said, they also don't put
on any airs to being fancy. You get an environment that has definately
been smoked in. As a smoker, it didn't bother me to have a smoking
section, but my wife had a different view. The food was certainly
prepackaged and frozen, but it was prepared as well as could be
expected in the time it took from ordering to having warm food
set down in front of you. The best thing about the place is they
are open 24 hours.

| Walter's Family Restaurant | Odessa, TX | |
|
Probably one of the best burger places in town, but to many people
it is known for one or more or their other menu items. The menu board
is varied and the food is prepared quickly and well. I personally
prefer their chicken strip dinner. While, at first a bit pricey,
you get what you pay for. The portions are large and the food is
good. During busy times of the day, the floors and tables could
be a bit cleaner, but added personel always means higher prices.
You just have to weigh the one against the other and decide which
you prefer.

| Barn Door & Pecos Depot | Odessa, TX | |
|
The bread was good, The cheddar cheese was a bit warm for my liking.
Had to send the steak back twice to have it cooked properly. The
salad was run of the mill, and the side dishes left much to be desired.
I expected better food for the prices they charged.

| Jumburrito Mexican Food Rstrnt | Odessa, TX | |
|
Jumburrito's has a wide selection of burritos you can order.
The taste is slightly better than the average fair until you add
their green salsa. It vastly adds to the flavor of the food. The
prices are in line with the portion size.

||
| Red Lobster | Odessa, TX | |
|
Not a bad place to eat if you're really desperate for a taste
of something from the water. Service is iffy, prices are a bit
on the high side and you just may need to go across the street for
a burger because of the skimpy portions served. No complaints
about the bar, though you may have to go get the drink yourself
if you want it in a timely manner.

| Texas-Burger | Odessa, TX | |
|
Not a bad burger place at all. The portions are large for the price
paid. The dining area was clean and the service was friendly.
Refills on soft drinks are free. they also have a nice selection
of ice cream for an after meal dessert.

| Fort Davis Drug Store | Fort Davis, TX | |
|
An excellent place to eat after walking the downtown shops of
Ft. Davis. Though the place fills quickly during meal times,
the waitstaff will seat you as quickly as possible. If your party
is small and you are seated at a large table, you may just get to
meet some of the colorful and friendly locals that you may be asked
to share a table with. This is NOT a bad thing.
Food portions are large and will remind you of the best of good
ole home cookin'. These folks seem to go out of their way to
make your stay with them a memorable one.

| Mejor Que Nada | San Angelo, TX | |
|
I've been here twice now and it's a good thing they have
added a large parking lot behind the restaurant because the small
lot the restaurant is located on is totally inadequate for parking.
I have to give them a mixed review.
The first time I went there, the food and service was excellent.
The next time the food was below average and the service was non
existant. Because of my first experience with them, I do plan
on returning whenever my path leads me back to San Angelo.

| Texas Land & Cattle | Lubbock, TX | |
|
The best steak I have eaten in years. Most places have trouble
cooking a steak to medium well while retaining the best of a steak's
flavor and juiciness. Teaxas Land & Cattle have cooking
steak down to a fine art. I would rate them better if the side dishes
were on the same par as the steak, but, unfortunately, in my experience,
this just was not the case. But, if you want a great steak at a reasonable
price (and you will think the price is more than reasonable once
you taste the steak), give them a try.

||
| Dos Compadres Mexican Rstrnt | Odessa, TX | |
|
Dos Compadre's is not a bad place to eat if one is not especially
hungry. The have the basic menu for a Mexican food restaurant
in Odessa. The food is not at all unpleasant. The portions are
a bit on the small side, but then, the prices are not very high either.
The place has a basic bar and live entertainment has been known
to take place. The entertainment is free when it's there,
so judge it accordingly.

||
| Stars Drive In of Odessa IV | Odessa, TX | |
|
Although Stars Drive In is a converted, older syled Sonic Drive
In, and one can easily see many commonalities in the arrangement
of the menu, I think I prefer the taste and the portion size of Stars
over that of Sonic. I have eaten here many times and have yet to
have bad service or bad food. The burgers are filling and the drinks
are larger than average.
The place could use a facelift, but don't let the doughty
exterior throw you. Stars Drive In is worth a try.

| Abuelo's Mexican Food Embassy | Midland, TX | |
|
Abuelo's has everything that a good Mexican food restaurant
should have: atmosphere, great food, uncrowed seating, and
a crew of waiters that are eager to please. This one is definately
going on my favorite places to eat list.
