| Kokkari Estiatorio | San Francisco, CA | |
|
An excellent restaurant in every respect. Unusual to find a quiet
night here, always excietment in the air and beautiful people
in attendance. The food here is always the big draw, with wonderful
grilled dishes of meats and fish available. This place is a winner,
and as said by other reviewers, you will need a reservation...

| Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House | Las Vegas, NV | |
|
Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House is an excellent rendition
of that Texas staple, a true steakhouse with a very busy bar and
a seperate cigar room (complete with a piano and a fireplace).
We really did enjoy our meal here, as the whole experience was
most pleasant. The food, the atmosphere and even the live music
all added up to a very enjoyable evening. If you want a great beef
meal off of the Las Vegas Strip, then you cannot do much better
than the Double Eagle...

| Canaletto | Las Vegas, NV | |
|
We have eaten at Canaletto each of our last four trips to Las Vegas
and have always found that the excellent food, good service and
the very busiy atmosphere all added up to a very nice dining experience.
This is a very busy restaurant located just off of the Venetian
Hotel's "Grand Canal", so there can be a very large crowd walking
past your table. So be it, this is still a very nice place to enjoy
a meal, have a glass of wine and just watch the passing crowd. We
like it enough that we will be back whenever we visit Las Vegas
again...

| Eddy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers | Medford, OR | |
|
Located on Riverside Drive (old US 99), Eddy's Old Fashioned
Hamburgers is now owned and operated by Joanne and Joe Pool. This
is an old fashioned hamburger joint, where your meal is not prepared
until you order it. With just a few tables inside and a picnic table
located outside, a lot of the hamburgers are ordered as take-out.
Just the same, if you enjoy a good, hot hamburger, this just might
be your cup of tea...

| Carol's Corner Cafe | Vancouver, WA | |
|
If you like good food and lots of it, Carols' Corner Cafe in Vancouver
maybe your kind of place. The plates that come out of that small
kitchen, at a very fast pace, are filled to the brim with hot, fresh
food. We've been there for Sunday breakfast (get there early
as there is going to be a line) and everyone in our party of four
seemed to be happy with their meal. Guess we'll all be going back
to Carols' Corner Cafe...

| Chart House | Vancouver, WA | |
|
Not too much is cheap at the Chart House. They have changed their
menu so the focus is on seafood and not so much on steaks. I kind
of miss the old menu, loved those baseball steaks! Oh well, guess
that nothing is forever, even at the Chart House chain...

| Montis La Casa Vieja | Tempe, AZ | |
|
Hey, this place has been in business for over 100 years, so they
must be doing something right...

| The Old Spaghetti Factory | San Jose, CA | |
|
This old place has been in business in the same locatin in San Jose
for many years and they are still going strong. Fine dining it is
NOT, but they still serve a lot of meals to a lot of people who mostly
seem pretty happy with what they order. I've even seen high school
and college sports teams eating here, so you know that the kitchen
can serve up some pretty fast dishes, too. If this place is good
enough for my mother, it should be good enough for your's too...

| Centrella Bistro and Cafe | Half Moon Bay, CA | |
|
Nice place for Half Moon Bay. They usually have live music in the
bar on weekend, so that adds to the atmosphere. A very large building,
can take lots of guests with ease. The food is very good, and usually
very fresh. A real plus for this part of the San Mateo County coast...

| Anzu | San Francisco, CA | |
|
If you want to try the combination of beef and sushi, this is the
place for you. The food, the service and the decor are all first
rate at this hotel restaurant. Located on the second floor off
of the lobby, Anzu offers a very exciting menu and don't be too
surprised at the cost. Ofter all, this is a Japanese influenced
restaurant...

| Monti's La Casa Vieja | Tempe, AZ | |
|
Monti's seems to just keep going along. While not a great steakhouse,
this place has been in business for over 100 years, so they must
be doing something right. Our party of seven was seated within
15 minutes (arriving without a reservation on a Thursday night).
The service was actually pretty good, and our dinners ranged
from Prime Rib to the lobster special. Everyone seemed to enjoy
what they ordered and we all left with a smile on our faces (maybe
it was because someone else was paying the bill). Like I said before,
this place has been in business for 100+ years and it is still successful...

| Treviso | Sausalito, CA | |
|
Treviso is the newest restaurant to join the already popular
Sausalito restaurant population. A friendly bar joined with
an interesting restaurant make for a wonderful dining experience.
We've been there as a couple and also with a larger group, and both
times the staff has been both friendly and professional. Great
food is presented here, tasty and fresh. There is also an interesting
wine list to accompany your dining selections. This place has
a winning formula and has grown in popularity very quickly...

| Porters | Medford, OR | |
|
Porters is housed in the old Southern Pacific railroad station
in downtown Medford. A beautifully restored building, Porters
tries hard to live up to its surrounings by offering a variety
of items on the menu, but the beef and seafood seems to be the draw
here. We both has steaks, Top Sirloin for her and a New York for
me. Both dishes appeared and were wonderfully presented with
the beef, veggies and mashed potatoes. All in all, Porters is
a very nice place to enjoy a pretty good meal...

| Tad's Steak Restaurant | San Francisco, CA | |
|
What can you say about a place that has been in business at the same
location for almost 50 years? Tadd's Steakhouse has been a fixture
at 160 Powell Street since the 1950's (I know, because this was
one of two places that my mother would feed us when we visited San
Francisco in the 50's). The name of the game here is volume, lots
of steaks, salads and potatoes have been served at Tadd's over
the years and while not gourmet, the place still serves a pretty
good meal at an inexpensive price...

| Oakville Grocery | Oakville, CA | |
|
Yes, there is take-out available here, but it is the range and
depth of grocery selections that have made the Oakville Grocery
famous. From wonderful fresh breads to the finest wines, this
is a great place to just stop and wander the through the isles.
The selections of vinegars, mustards and a wide variety of assorted
condiments makes for an interesting way to take a (sometimes
very needed) break from wine tasting. A very helpful staff also
adds to the shopping (or just looking) experience...

| Cole's Chop House | Napa, CA | |
|
Cole's Chop House resides in a recently renovated one-hundred
year old building located in downtown Napa. Cole's Chef-owner
(Gary Cole of Celadon fame), is a local resident who takes much
pride in this, his second Napa restaurant. The very solid menu
features what you would expect, lamb and pork chops, and beef
of many varieties. We enjoyed the salads and split the filet,
which went great with the grilled asparagas. The extensive wine
list offers lots of local and other surprises. Leave room for
the desserts, as they too are wonderful. Free valet parking is
offered, so take your time and enjoy this delightful dining experience...

| Fatapple's | Berkeley, CA | |
|
I like Fatapple's for their hamburgers, which are not your regular
fast-food type of burgers. Lots of other nice looking items are
available, but the real draw for me is the hamburger. There must
be a draw here, as the line at lunch always seems to be steady...
|
||
| Rick & Ann's | Berkeley, CA | |
|
Rick & Ann's has been a Berkeley/Oakland favorite for many years
now, still "undiscovered" but always pleasing too. Located
in the shadow of the Claremont Resort, R&A's serves a very good
breakfast, lunch and dinner to a crowd, so you might have to wait
for a table, even with a reservation. Still, I've enjoyed each
and every meal that I had here, and I think that it is well worth
the wait...
|
||
| Fentons Creamery & Restaurant | Oakland, CA | |
|
Hey, this is an ice cream place first, so don't expect to get an
outstanding meal here. Lots of kids (usually) and adults, too,
all looking for their milk and sugar fix. Fenton's has been a fixture
for years now, and there is no reason that it will change. If ice
cream is your "thing" then Fenton's might well be the place for
you...

| In-N-Out Hamburgers | Mill Valley, CA | |
|
This is the Southern Marin In-N-Out Burger store and it is walk-up
only (what, no drive thru allowed in Mill Valley? McDonald's
just down the road has one!). If this is your kind of hanburger
place, then go right ahead and enjoy. The burgers, french fries
and drinks are standard In-N-Out fare, nothing but formula stuff
is allowed. Still, the food is fresh and the surroundings are
always kept as clean as possible. In-N-Out can always be counted
on the serve up some pretty good stuff, if this is your style of
dining...
