Sticky Fingers Restaurant Charleston, SC
The food at this tourist trap is overpriced for the quality and limited in selection. Unless you especially enjoy lots of loud children, and bland food and atmosphere I strongly advise you to avoid this restaurant. This is a place like, Hyman's which is nearby, that has paid the Visitor's Center to promote as a place locals love, when in reality, no local will ever step foot inside unless they are being paid to.
La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant Charleston, SC
This downtown Mexican restaurant has a wonderful happy with some of the largest margarita's you've ever seen. It's salsa is not too spicy, but full of flavor. This is definately worth checking out if you want good food and a fair price.
Hank's Seafood Charleston, SC
If you have the money to spend or just enjoy a good glass of wine this is definately the place to go. The service is excellent and the waitstaff knowledgable. The atmosphere is romantic for taking out special someones. It is usually best to reserve as this place is always busy.
California Dreaming Charleston, SC
This is a nice casual location for when you tire of going into the busy downtown area. The waitstaff is usually very friendly but the atmosphere is the reason to be here. The view is wonderful and the bar is well stocked. Good for a nice, laid back night away from town.
Charleston Crab House Charleston, SC
This is really more a tourist restaurant but if you are in from out of town then you probably would enjoy this place. The food is usually well prepared although the service isn't always at the top of its game. Conveniently located on Market Street if you've been shopping all morning it is a nice lunch spot although there are plenty of better restaurants for a good dinner nearby.
Olde Towne Restaurant Charleston, SC
Wonderful greek food which is rare in Charleston because the selection is limited. Very casual atmosphere and one of the oldest locally owned downtown restaurants. Friendly waitstaff which goes a long way anywhere.
Eighty-Two Queen Charleston, SC
This is a very beautiful dining atmosphere with a patio location for when weather is permitting. The waitstaff is friendly and the food is well prepared. Unfortunately the food is also overpriced, but when money isn't an issue this is a fun place to have a sunday brunch or romantic dinner.
Grill At Charleston Place Charleston, SC
One of only five, four-star restaurants in town Charleston Grille distinguishes itself with its wine list that is bigger than most yearbooks, approved by Wine Spectator itself. If you like a wine, you will find it at Charleston Grille. It has a wonderful outdoor seating as well as live jazz music to compliment the atmosphere. This is definately where you want to go for anniversaries, birthdays, or other occassions where it matters. If you need to know how much food or drink is, you shouldn't come here. Still maintains a casual "no jacket needed" atmosphere.
Wild Wing Cafe Charleston, SC
Good drinking location late at night when you want to hear some loud music or just meet someone new. The appetizers are more than you could need to compliment your beer induced hunger and the prices are fair enough to enjoy yourself
Kaminsky's Most Excellent Cafe Charleston, SC
This has one of the best happy hour's in town with $.99 draft beer that comes from their neighboring restaurant T-Bonz and $2.00 well liquor drinks from 4-7 p.m. This place also has one of the nicest ambiences for a nice dessert late night after dinner.
Club Habana Charleston, SC
One the nicest downtown drinking locations, this tapas bar/cigar lounge can give you high class service and is equipped with all the top shelf liquors you could desire. The wine list is everchanging but always delicious. very professional with a wonderful atmosphere, dimly lit with candles at each table and comfortable couches and chairs to relax long into the night in.
Slightly North of Broad Rstrnt Charleston, SC
The food here is diverse enough to usually satisfy everyone's whim at the table and the wine list, although small is very complimentary to the food. The waitstaff is very knowledgable of good combinations and is always friendly. The location is very convenient on East Bay Street and the atmosphere is good for a nice meal while catching up with old friends.
Poogan's Porch Charleston, SC
The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is quite enjoyable, though a bit overpriced for what it is. This restaurant is quite similar to its neighbor 82 Queen and has many of its same strengths and weaknesses, including good waitstaff, but not necessarily the best selection or fair prices. Wine list is quite enjoyable, with a featured wine each month.
Vickery's Bar & Grill Charleston, SC
Vickery's has a nice atmopshere, with outside seating and friendly staff. Their happy hour special is very nice although their menu selection is somewhat limited. The prices are usually fair and it is a nice lunch spot when looking for something to snack on.
Jestine's Kitchen Charleston, SC
Very good southern food, done right. The portions are large, the tea is sweet and the service is full of southern hospitality. Selection is somewhat limited but such is southern food. If looking for good soul food this is the place downtown to get it.
Gaulart & Maliclet French Cafe Charleston, SC
Better known as the Fast and French to locals, this wonderful French cafe is a good lunch or dinner spot to get well prepared food at a fair price. Many entrees include a glass of wine and with many cheeses to choose from this is a wonderful stop downtown.
Kickin' Chicken Charleston, SC
Kickin' Chicken has good food for lunch or just to much as you drink and enjoy one of their late night bands playing in the background. Cheap prices and good quality food, they also deliver and do to go orders which is always nice downtown, although the preparation can be slow at times. Open early and late, this is a good place to enjoy.
Sermet's Corner Charleston, SC
Sermet's is a wonderful atmosphere, with authentic food and friendly service. The specials change daily and are always worth sampling. The bread and oil are nice to munch on as you wait and the wine list is limited but very tastey.
Gilroy's Pizza Pub Charleston, SC
This late night pizza place is open and delivering until 4 a.m. on the weekends which gives it a definate plus for any late night partier. With the Upperdeck bar above it and cheap prices, Gilroy's is a part of the social life for anyone living in downtown.
Baker's Cafe of Charleston Charleston, SC
One of the best breakfasts in downtown. Baker's Cafe is very clean and efficient with friendly waitstaff, and a very diverse menu. Good for when you are tired of the usual breakfast.
