Starts with wonderful mountain location and attentive wait staff.
Beyond the portions, the quality and taste of the entree's are
top of the line.

| Four Eleven West Italian Cafe | Chapel Hill, NC | |
Little parking available, and always a line. The dishes are well done
and the sauce seems fresh made. Usually a mixed crowd of middle/upper,
university types, and students out on a date.

| Squid's Restaurant | Chapel Hill, NC | |
A long-standing chapel Hill destination for nicer dining seafood.
Always seem to have fresh fish prepared to your taste. Can't forget
to mention the hush puppies like so many others.

| Hector's | Chapel Hill, NC | |
Almost liike a greasy spoon diner. 'Chips' are good (hand
cut spiral potato fries.
| Breadmen's Restaurant | Chapel Hill, NC | |
Huge variety on the menu. Breakfast foods are the favorite. A big local
student hangout, especially late at night/early morning. food is
decent.

| Mazatlan Mexican Resturant | Thomasville, NC | |
Reasonable Mexican fare with some tex/ mex sprinkled in. Quick service
generally. Not a big fan of the chips and salsa.

| Dockside Restaurant | Wilmington, NC | |
Pick the right seat and you can watch boats of all sizes drift past during
your entire meal. Menu options are nice and you aren't forced to
get the same old tired fried seafood. Nice wait staff as well.

| Priddyboy's Sandwich Grill | Wilmington, NC | |
I didn't realize this was a chain until later. Anyway, the steak
sandwich does not consist of slices or chopped steak (like a Philly).
It comes in thick cut strips so don't be suprised. Cheese and condiments
made for a tasty sandwich once you got over the surprise meat presentation.
Soup was good but pricey for the size.

| Casalinga's | Raleigh, NC | |
Tiny little place in a strip mall. Normally get the pizza's which
are quite good, but I keep hearing from other patrons that the pasta
dishes and sauce are worth trying.

| N C Seafood | Raleigh, NC | |
As fresh as any restaurant at the beach. Nice southern servers and good
sweet tea. The plate portions are huge. While it is usually crowded,
the line moves fairly quickly.

| Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill | Raleigh, NC | |
I was reminded of a not-as-well-done Moe's Southwest Diner. Not
usually very busy, probably because nothing here to rate a huge following.

| Jimmy V's Steakhouse & Tavern | Cary, NC | |
Finally got to go after living in the area a while. Known for its steaks
so had to try it and was not disappointed. Service was not up to par perhaps
especially for the price range. As noted, there is more than enough
on the dinner plate to satisfy the hungriest diner.

| Atlanta Bread Co | Cary, NC | |
Sandwich was pretty good, but did not like the soup. Chicken noodle
I think and it tasted like it had been sitting for days. It was pretty
salty too. Comparable to a Panera type eatery.

| Francesca's Dessert Caffe | Durham, NC | |
The food menu is limited as is seating space, but the reason to visit
should be the dessert's anyway. We've special ordered cakes
from here that were delicacies for the eyes and the tastebuds.
| Randy's Pizza | Durham, NC | |
It's chain, but a far cry from Domino's or Papa J's. More
like NY style with pretty good deals. Have heard that the sandwiches
were good as well.
| Satisfaction Restaurant & Bar | Durham, NC | |
They have lot's of TV which is good for basketball tournament time.
However, the service is very slow at this time as well (maybe other times
too). Wait staff training in customer service (speed, promptness,
getting orders right, etc.) is likely not a priority.
| Kurama Japanese Seafood & Stk | Durham, NC | |
Poor imitation of Kanki. Old exterior and interior don't help
with the atmosphere and the wait staff seem like they are just going
through the motions. When you finally get your food its acceptable,
but its just not an enjoyable overall experience.
| Canton Buffet | Cary, NC | |
Usually a good variety for a decent price. Lunch can be busy. Not fine
dining, but serves well for quick lunches.
| On the Border | Cary, NC | |
Not true mexican, much more strongly geared to tex-mex. Still the fajitas
come sizziling and loaded with meat, peppers and onions that taste
great and you can fix up how you want.

| Melvin's | Elizabethtown, NC | |
A local and longstanding favorite. There can often be long lines out
the back door of this small town burger grill. The food is inexpensive,
but you can't beat the taste. The best news for people living in
Raleigh is that there is one on Hillsborough near NCSU now. Not quite
as good, but pretty darn close!
