| Texas Steak House | Charleston, WV | |

Chain restaurant. I think the food there is pretty good, but when
I always seem to leave wondering how 2 adults and 3 kids manage
to run up such a high bill without ordering any alcohol. No complaints
about the food though. The steaks have always been good.

| The Olive Garden | Charleston, WV | |
|
I love Italian and I think the choices in Charleston are Olive
Garden and Joe Fazio's. Even though this is a chain restaraunt,
I think the dishes there are fantastic. The advantage of the Olive
Garden is that it's right at the TownCenter Mall so there's
ample, well-lit parking.

| Chilton House | Saint Albans, WV | |
|
When you first glimpse this restaurant from the outside, you'll
know you're in for some fine dining. You may feel under-dressed
if you go too casual. Go there if you truely want an elegant dining
experience or if you really want to impress someone. The food
was really good and the service was exceptional. This will put
a dent in your wallet, since you can easily select from much more
expensive menu items.

| Rivers Edge | Saint Albans, WV | |

Home-cooking from someone else's kitchen. Really very
good food. I loved to go here with friends. Yes, the hush puppies
were great, but so were their dishes like the pork chops, or the
meatloaf, etc., etc. Great gravy with the mashed potatoes.

| Azteca Mexican Restaurant | Charleston, WV | |
|
I've had some very good meals here, but agree with on of the
other reviewers - during one lunch visit they ran out of a few things.
But the food was good enough to make another trip worth it. This
place is pretty close to the State capital complex. Really nice
area to walk around and visit during the *daytime*.

| D'Alessandro's Italian Cuisine | Midland, MI | |
|
D'Alessandro's moved to 801 East Wackerly Ave and is
now called D'Alessandro's Villa.
<br>
The atmosphere has been 'upgraded' to a much classier
style. The 2x I've been there I found the quality of the food
didn't match their improved surroundings. The service
was good, but in my limited experience I consider it to be a barely
"average" italian restaurant, which is a shame since
I agree that it can get a little "pricey". I love Italian
and Midland lacks good Italian restaurants, but I'd rather
drive 25 miles to Saginaw (Olive Garden) than drive 5 miles to
D'Alessandro's.

| Fazoli's | Midland, MI | |
|
Italian Food? Yes - Hey, they do use pasta and tomato sauce. My
friends loved this place and so I've eaten there many times,
but if you really like Italian food, this won't satisfy your
'craving'. Bottom line is that it's a fast, inexpensive
alternative to burgers and fries. And it doesn't try to pass
itself off as a fantastic dining experience, but just decent
fast food. If you're in a hurry, Great! If you have more time
and want better 'Italian', go just next door to Bennigan's.
As of this writing they have only 1 real Italian dish (Chicken
fettucine), but it's pretty good.

| Chi Chi's Mexican Restaurant | Midland, MI | |
|
I used to love Chi-Chi's. The food was good and the prices
were very reasonable. But I've been there 4-5 times this
past year and each time I've left feeling less than satisfied.
I agree that it's a great place to go with a group of friends.
You can be loud and have a great time. That's mostly now the
only reason I go there. But I believe their prices are no longer
reasonable for what amounts to mostly a plate full of beans and
rice. Two of the last 3 times I was there the rice was too dried.
How do you do that?? BUT, their chips are still great, and if you
do go, you should try their fried ice cream dessert.

| Lil' Chef | Midland, MI | |
|
This place isn't fancy, but the food is pretty good, the prices
are reasonable, and it's open 24 hours. I've only been
there for their breakfasts. They have a wicked bisquets and gravy.
You just know the stuff is going straight to your arteries, but
it tastes so good you don't care. The service there has always
been very good.

| 101 Main Street Food & Spirits | Midland, MI | |
|
Very good restaurant. Good service. A litle pricey, but the food
is worth it. The restaurant is in a great location for downtown
sites. Small outside cafe for when the weather is warmer.

| Big Boy | Midland, MI | |
|
Standard Big Boy restaurant, but the food is exactly what you
expect if your looking for 'home-cooked' meals. The
meatloaf and spaghetti both hit the spot. The salad bar is a little
limited, but serves its purpose. Don't order the Philly
cheese sandwich, but everything else I've ever had there
was worth it. The restaurant is very clean, the service is good
and they're open late.

| Bob Evans | Midland, MI | |
|
An excellent place to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner if you
want a simple meal at a decent price. I've had many great meals
there, but I especially recommend the Chicken Wildfire salad.

| Damon's | Midland, MI | |
|
Great place to go with the 'team' after the game. You
can drink, be loud, play trivia, etc. The food is respectable.
It *is* a great place for ribs. In summer they have seating outside
and they sometimes have live music. I've never had to wait
in line any of the times I've been there, nor have I had slow
service. Guess it just depends on when you go.

| Cafe Edward | Midland, MI | |
|
No longer open. They are not listed in the phone book and when I
called the phone number above it says it's been disconnected
|

| Omelete's & More | Midland, MI | |
|
The seating is limited, but the omlete's are great. Also
a good place to go for a quick lunch. Right downtown so it's
near all the stores and also the river, the 'Tridge',
and parks.

| Pi's Chinese Restaurant | Midland, MI | |
|
Midland has very limited ethic food restaurants, but 3 times
as many Chinese eateries as you'd expect for a city this size.
I can't expalin it, but from amoungst the large selection,
Pi's is one of the best for Chinese. I love their Princess
Chicken. It does draw a crowd because the food is so good, but there
are vast amounts of seating space, including seating for large
groups.

||
| Pizza Sam's | Midland, MI | |
|
If you're downtown and you want a place for pizza, this is
it. If you're strolling downtown taking in the sites and
you want to stop for ice cream, this is it. They have a good selection
of hand dipped ice cream, as well as soft serve, banana splits,
etc. There's also seating outside (in warm weather). Good
staff. Great location.

||
| Ponderosa Steak House | Midland, MI | |
|
This is the standard "Pondo", but you know exactly
what to expect, and you get it. They've gotten more expensive,
and they don't float around coupons like they used to, but
the buffet is huge! The steaks are decent and you can really fill
up. This particular one is clean. They have lots of seating. The
service is generally pretty good.
|
||
| Shirlene's Cuisine | Midland, MI | |
|
I've only been here for lunch, but have enjoyed the food.
They serve pretty standard fare. I really liked the soup. It's
close to the mall, but slightly away from all the car traffic.
|
||
| Hooters | Bay City, MI | |
|
Go there for the chicken wings and the beer and the view.... of
the river. It's very near the riverfront park. Same food
they serve at all hooters. The curly fries are also good. The chili
cheese curly fries get soggy pretty fast. Other food selections
are standard, but expensive for what you get.
