Shapiro's Delicatessen Indianapolis, IN
Very good bagels. Not had anything else ffrom here, but the bagels are very good. Great variety, big, tasty.
Chicago Pizza & Ricardo's Yogurt Terre Haute, IN
Good pizzas, decent salad/pizza/taco bar. They get fairly busy at lunch and of an evening, but it's worth going in and getting a good meal.
Green Acres Dairy Terre Haute, IN
Ice cream shop on the far north side of town. Kind of like a Dairy Queen, little better though. If you're around there and want something to take the heat off, it's a good place to stop.
Boo's Crossroads Cafe Terre Haute, IN
Little diner open for lunch. Not bad food, gets pretty busy for lunch, though. Overall a decent place to go for a meal.
Denny's Diner Terre Haute, IN
Open all night, really bad food. Tends to be very greasy and not very appetizing. You get a lot of kids in of a night, as it's open 24 hours. Not somewhere I'd recommend.
Runyon's Black Angeus Restaurant Terre Haute, IN
Really good drinks, and the lounge is classic. Black Vinyl benches around the tables, darkly lit, smoke thick on the air. Fun place to relx and have a good meal and a drink or two.
Spaghetti Shop The East Terre Haute, IN
Three words: Bucket of Spaghetti. Tasty garlic bred loaves, decent pasta dishes. If you want spaghetti for lots of people easily, this is the place to go.
Azar George Terre Haute, IN
Owner of the Saratoga, pretty decent place to eat, nice bar. He's a good guy, rents out apartments over his restaurant.
Footers Terre Haute, IN
Ok pizza and sandwich joint. Place looks like a dive from the outside, isn't much better inside, but the kitchens are decent and turn out some good sandwiches. The food tends to be a bit on the greasy side, but it's pizza, so what are you going to do?
Gran Ma Joy's Terre Haute, IN
Had really good yeast rolls back when it was open. People have tried to reopen it a few times in the last couple years, but it doesn't seem to want to come back.
Magic Wok Terre Haute, IN
Chinese place in the mall. Not bad if you're doing a full day's worth of shopping and don't want to leave for lunch, or you just have to get something to eat while you're there. There's much better just down the road, though.
Papa Joe's Smokehouse Terre Haute, IN
Now this was a good resaurant. Had really good food, really good music almost every night. Went out of business, but there's a new place in the same building, with the big Papa Joe's mural still on the side of it.
Royal Mandarin Terre Haute, IN
Really good Chinese/Mongolian Food. Small buffet, mongolian bbq, full menu, good waitresses. They have delivery available, and are open fairly late with it.
Taco Casita No 1 Terre Haute, IN
Ouch, lot's of health violations, not very good food. Some people eat it without any problems. Others don't. Fairly cheap and fast, but not really worth it.
Buffalo Wings & Rings Restaurants Terre Haute, IN
Good food, good beer, decent pool tables. Nice sports bar with family dining available. Specializes in wings and other chicken finger foods. Large variety of sauces, ranging from very mild to fairly hot. The blazing is hot, but it's not horrible and has a good flavor in front of it.
Terre Haute Brewery Tap Room Terre Haute, IN
Great beer, has live music and a beer garden. Fun to go out and enjoy a nice night with some friends and a few beers.
Makr Pi's Express Terre Haute, IN
Chinese to go place in the ISU Commons. Not bad, not great. If you're a student and using your commons cash, it's fine, but if you're paying cash, go somewhere else if you can.
Marriott Corporation Terre Haute, IN
Marriott does the food service for ISU, and while they get a bad reputation because of the cafeterias and the common jokes about them, they do a decent job. They run almost all the businesses in the commons, and the dorm cafeterias. It's convenient on campus, but every now and then you just have to go out for something different.
George's Cafe Terre Haute, IN
This is a lebanese restuarant On Cherry St near ISU's campus. It has both traditional Lebanese and American food, so if you're not in the mood for a gyro or hummas, you can get a great burger or tenderloin. Great atmosphere, great price. Two can eat for about $10, so definately easy on the wallet.
Moggers Terre Haute, IN
This is a great locally owned restuarant. Lot's of good food; burgers, steaks, chicken dishes. They have live music two-three times a week, generally blues, sometimes modern jazz. Wonderful selection of beer, and great drink specials during the week.
