| Farm Boy | Morgantown, KY | |
|
Good service, but bad food ... I had breakfast there a couple of
times. The home-fries were cooked in used motor oil. I'm
serious. 'Tasted like nothing I ever tried to eat before.
Supper was cold. This is SOME bad food. Don't even think about
eating here.

| John & Sue's Family Restaurant | Graham, KY | |
|
This is not a particulary good place to eat. But I had something
funny happen to me down there.
The buffet looked peculiarly uninteresting, so I tried to order
a roast-beef dinner. You know, a sandwich with gravey and mashed
potatoes. The very attractive waitress seemed totally stunned.
Utterly flummoxed.
You see, out in rural KY "dinner" is what we call lunch.
So she gathered up her wits, as best she could ... and said, "You
mean, like a 'plate lunch'?
It was cold, too. The food.
But, there's a reason for this confusion. Farm people ate
big at lunch-time and slept off the heat of the day. White people
can't work out in those fields under that sun. Dinner was
the big meal. Supper was usually a cold thing ... country ham and
cold biscuits.
I should have asked that country girl to marry me on the spot!

| Yuki Japanese Restaurant | Bowling Green, KY | |
|
This seems like the "Real McCoy" to me. We are talking a very serious Japanese restaurant here, where most of the patrons are native Japanese and they eat their sushi with chopsticks. There's even a double row of saki bottles on the shelf behind the bar - each with a regular patron's name on it! I had the shrimp tempura (sans chopsticks) and while it wasn't quite what I expected, it WAS excellent. BIG shrimp! So ... You want to have a little lunch in an authentic atmosphere? You won't do better than this - this side of Tokyo. I can't believe I found this place in Bowling Green.

| Shogun of Japan Steak House | Bowling Green, KY | |
|
I suppose everybody in Bowling Green has tried this one out. I
didn't really like the food all that much ... but that's
not their fault, I just don't like scrambled eggs in my fried
rice, nor am I entirely comfortable sitting with strangers at
the table.
But this place isn't really about food. This is about showmanship!
When your personal chef pours lighter fluid on the grill - look
out! It would seem very unwise to be wearing hairspray at this
time. I'm like old Sripal on this one ... Great Place!

| Mary's Home Cooking | Bowling Green, KY | |
|
Tell me about Mary's somebody ... It must have been 40 years
ago the last time I was in there. Down on 31W back then, but the hottest
place in town for good home-cooked food for poor starving students.
Sweet iced-tea in a Mason jar, heavy food, quite apt to give you
a heart-attack in your youth ... My kind of Place!
Do they make breakfast? chas
