| Maple Garden Restaurant | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Maple Garden has been a long-standing favorite of our family,
with the same owner & waitresses still there since I was a
kid! Their Chinese food is my standard for excellence, whatever
you order is done well and well worth the price. We order family
style, in courses, & share all dishes, so entree pricing
is less representative of full meal costs, keep that in mind as
final tabs tend to be much higher than a per person entree. And
parking is tight, but there is street parking & it's
worth it!

| Kua Aina Sandwich Shop | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Best Burgers in town, hands down! Fresh toppings, grilled items,
fresh thin french fries are perfectly hot & crispy &
salty! YUM! Burgers so big, you'll have to strech your lips
& still won't fit the top & bottom in the same bite!
Bit of a wait, but line moves fast & well worth the average
$7 price.

| Down To Earth Natural Foods | Honolulu, HI | |
|
This is a vegetarian Deli inside a health food store that has remarkably
well done & tasty dishes, but entree pricing goes strictly
by weight, so a pile of rice could cost as much as the teriyaki tofu
smothering it. This works out well if all you want is salad! No
atmosphere to speak of, but calm.

||
| Tasty Korean BBQ | Kaneohe, HI | |
|
Korean BBQ is one of the most outstanding oral flavors one can
experience without sinning! This is a typical local plate lunch
establishment, that features plates between $4-7 mostly, some
amazing meat marinades, rice & cold Korean vegies...food
quality/price is good, atmosphere is not great.
|
||
| Kozo Sushi | Kaneohe, HI | |
|
Sushi is not purchased by "entree", so pricing is
difficult to determine, as you pay per piece or roll. Prices are
standard, store is clean, sterile, as sushi houses should be.
Everything one would expect from a sushi joint.

| Duke's Restaurant & Canoe Club | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Duke's in Waikiki is a surf-theme hotel-based nice surf-n-turf
restaurant & bar right on the beach, featuring live nightly
entertainment, a romantic airy atmosphere & great food
& drinks. As tropical island beachfront locations goes,
it's hard to beat, and very popular, regardless of their
really high prices. But get reservations and be prepared to wait,
and whatever you do, find street parking, or the hotel will scalp
ya!

||
| Kua Aina Sandwich | Haleiwa, HI | |
|
Kua Aina has arguably the best burgers ever! ...gourmet additions
like avocado, grilled peppers & onions and mushrooms, leave
even the neatest eaters stretching their lips & wiping the
drips! Store location is small & tight, but line moves fast
& when you're waiting for the best, that's all that
matters!
|
||
| Rosie's Cantina | Haleiwa, HI | |
|
Rosie's Cantina is a Mexican cafe that serves average food
(but hey, even average Mexican food is good!) at average/highish
prices, but plenty of it!
|
||
| The Shack-Kailua | Kailua, HI | |
|
This is a casual open air indoor-outdoor island style bar &
grill. Offerings include standard bar-grill fare, all very
good, but not particularly outstanding...still, a comfortable,
relaxed atmosphere for meeting new friends or getting together
w/old ones.
|
||
| Baci Bistro | Kailua, HI | |
|
This place has fabulous food, I've never been disappointed
w/anything I've ordered. Location leaves something to
be desired, situated between two buildings, but overall a great
experience... well then, it should be for the price! A real hidden
gem in Kailua...

||
| Cisco's Cantina | Kailua, HI | |
|
Cisco's offers a great margarita, as any good Mexican restaurant
should. But Cisco's suffers from either need of a trained
cook, or poor management... I can't cook Mexican, but I could've
made seafood tamales better than they did, always my measuring
stick for quality! ...Avoid the tamales! But the seafood enchiladas
are good enough to make up for it!
|
||
| Good To Go Hawaii | Kailua, HI | |
|
This is primarily a take-out joint, offering some of the best
luchtime entrees you will find on the windward side. Began as
offshoot from local culinary school, amazing new ideas really
took off & they've managed to maintain their focus on
the food instead of service & their business has thrived!
The make the BEST brownies EVER!
|
||
| Jaron's Restaurant Kailua | Kailua, HI | |
|
Jaron's is like a million nice restaurants, good food, kinda
pricey, tranquil comfortable environment, good service...nothing
remarkable, nothing bad. But after 9 Jaron's hosts live
music & the place jams!
|
||
| Brent's Restaurant & Deli | Kailua, HI | |
|
Brent's is an awesome sandwich shop w/hot offerings as well.
Everything's good there...I haven't had a bad choice
yet, and all the neighboring tables have food that looks equally
enticing! I hate it when I can't decide!
|
||
| Bueno Nalo | Kailua, HI | |
|
Food here is excellent, margaritas, everything gastronomically
lovely... but in my few experiences there, the service left so
much to be desired, it quenched my would've-been 4 stars
down to 3! (Let's hope it was just a bad day!)
|
||
| D Coy's Sports Bar & Grill | Kailua, HI | |
|
This is more of a sports bar than anything, hairy smelly guys being
loud w/each other at the bar, big screen TV's up all over the
place, billiards, etc. Food is NOT what you go here for, this looks
more like a men's club, and not one ladies will enjoy.
|
||
| Little Dragon Chinese | Kailua, HI | |
|
Little Dragon is popular w/their regular clientelle, but they
suffer from a not so popular location, cheap atmosphere, and
average food. I'd like to be more generous, but the best I
can say is it's hard to wreck Chinese food... they didn't.
They're ok.
|
||
| New Mui Kwai Chop Suey II | Kailua, HI | |
|
Mui Kwai II, as we call it, is a decent place to get Chinese to go.
The food's better than average, but not excellent; dining
in atmosphere is cheap-looking & basic; service is average;
prices are very fair.
|
||
| Assaggio Italian Restaurant | Kailua, HI | |
|
Assagio's knows how to do Italian, aims at good service,
and often are excellent. When they are busy, the place loses something
of it's quiet charm. Decent, and just a notch below an exceptional
fine dining experience (no Valet!)
|
||
| Yen Yen Chinese Restaurant | Kailua, HI | |
|
Best Chinese food in Kailua, hands down! Still, that cheesey
Chinese decor really robs from a warm atmosphere, and the servers
mostly speak non-English. Still, we love it there for the great
food (adore the walnut shrimp & spicey shrimp in the shell!)
good prices, all around exceptional value.
