| Reo Restaurant | Rockport, IN | |
|
The Reo Restaurant has been around almost as long as I have. I can
remember going there as a boy, although it was called Don'r
Restaurant back then, and haveing the same great food. Although
they are closed for dinner, and have a better than average lunch,
their breakfast foods are what has made them what they are. Opening
before the farmers take to their fields, sometimes it is hard
to get a seat. I strongly recomend the old classics, bacon and
eggs with a side of hash browns and toast. I'm not much of a
coffee person so a regular old Jersey Highball for me, thats a
large milk with ice for those not from the country. To be quite
honest there is little I have not tried there and will continue
to be a loyal customer as long as it is open. For those of you with
a problem deciding I suggest showing up on a Saturday morning,
early, and just get the breakfast buffet. I promise you won't
be disappointed.

| Tyler's Fine Foods | Rockport, IN | |
|
Tyler's has been around Rockport for ages and the food is
still great. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, they are all fantastic.
This place has stayed straight with the basics, no fancy stuff
to try to get your buisness. They do it with good home cooking.
The wait staff is always friendly and if you are well known, wink
wink nudge nudge, you can't even order until you have caught
everyone up on yourself and them themselves. The only reason
i rate this restaurant a 4 and not a five is because of the time frame.
Unless you order the specials of the day prepare for a bit of a wait
on your food, usually about 30 minutes.
These are wy personal favorites there..
Breakfast is usually skillet fried country ham with two eggs,
over medium. Hashbrowns fried a bit crisp but not burned with
a side of biscuits and sausage gravy.
Lunch is a bit of a toss up. They have an excellent club sandwich
that will barely fit in your mouth as well as the sandwich named
after the local high school mascot, the Rebel burger. This thing
was around way before Hardee's ever thought about using
a half pound of beef in a burger and tasts five times better. Slide
in an order of french fries or potatoe chips to either one and you'll
be happy with your decision.
Dinner has to be, hands down the roast beef and gravy. Piled high
on a scoop shovel load of buttered mashed potatoes, it's
so good it'll make you slap your grand ma'. Add to that
a choice of two sides and your dinning experience will go to another
level, the level where you have to take it home because you didn't
have enough room.
If you happened to save room after lunch or dinner they have freash
homemade pies baked daily as well as a wonderful chocolate sundae.
I suggest the apple pie, heated just a bit with one scoop of vanilla
melting on top.
