| Homestead Restaurant | Edgewood, NM | |
|
Well, so much for history. The unique old building is gone, replaced
by another self service gas station.

| China West Restaurant | Alamogordo, NM | |
|
No restaurant here. Called the Palm Side, it's a seedy bar with
no food, unless you count the peanuts and popcorn on the bar.

| Outpost | Carrizozo, NM | |
|
Why is it that the little wide spot in the road towns in NM have the best
burger places? Carrizozo is proud to have the Outpost, and I can see
why. The burgers are gigantic and the green chile is terrific. Enough
french fries to feed a family, and that's just one order. A sad note,
though. The liquor license has been sold, so now they just have beer
and wine. Too bad, cuz a bar this wicked just isn't the same drinking
a wine spritzer. This is a man's bar, where whiskey should flow
and tequila be consumed.

| Murphy's Mule Barn | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
Make your way past the contruction yards, industrial areas and vacant
lots to Murphy's and you'll be glad you took the time. No "fru-fru"
food here, just old fashioned get your grub on meals. If you're
counting calories or watching cholesterol, just drive on past. However,
if you want to get full and really enjoy it, take the time.

| Garduno's of Mexico | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
Nothing to write home about. The food is okay, but run of the mill. They've
become too corporate, I guess, with the foray into Las Vegas, Nevada.
Guess they forgot their roots. I'll stick with Sadie's or
Casa Benevidez.

| Sadie's Dining Room | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
One of the top two mexican places in Albuquerque. I've never left
hungry, and believe me, that's saying something. You can enjoy
actual mexican cooking without breaking the budget, and they have
a full bar to compliment the meal.

| The Melting Pot | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
This is one of those places that you go for a once-in-a-lifetime meal.
That's because you can't afford to eat there again. Took a
date, and it set me back over a hundred bills with drinks. And she wasn't
even that good looking!

| Cooperage Restaurant | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
Went with a friend for dinner. Waited forever to get served, got our
order mixed up with someone else's, and the dining area was like
a refrigerator. Wait staff acted like they had better things to do.
Never again.

| Subway | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
Why is Subway on this site? From Kauai to Puerto Rico, Subway is Subway
is Subway. The subs are good, but to be featured on a dining site? C'mon,
people!

| Tgi Fridays | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
Went with the family to dinner here a couple of weeks ago. They stuck
us off in the corner and then forgot us. When I finally reminded them
that we were there, the waitress copped an attitude. I asked for a manager,
and was told that he was too busy to deal with us at the moment. We left
and went up the street to Popeyes. Yeah, I'll take fast food chicken
over this joint anyday.

| Golden Pride BBQ Chicken | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
Golden Pride....just the name makes me long for great chicken and fantastic
burritos. The same people that run the Frontier down by UNM, so some
of the same applies. If you're from outta town, be careful of the
green chili stew cuz' it's not kind to tourists, but natives
love the taste. I go every chance I get.

| Scalo Northern Italian Grill | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
Went with a date on the recommendation of a friend. Guess I must have
made him made at some point cuz this place stunk! I hate going to places
where the employees act like they're doing you a favor by taking
your money. Nob Hill has become Snob Hill. I long for the good old days
of Fat Humphrey's. Now that was a restaurant..........!
|
||
| Monte Vista Fire Station | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
Really cool old building. It's an actual firehouse from the early
days of Albuquerque. Still has the fire pole and everything. However,
the restaurant is now called Gruet Steakhouse and the Monte Vista is
upstairs...just the bar, I think. Food is okay, a little pricey, but
you could do worse. (See review for Scalos).

| Joe G Maloof & Co | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
Maybe I've missed something in my 30+ years in Albuquerque, but
isn't Maloof's a beer distribution company? I don't
think they have a restaurant there, cuz all I've ever seen there
is beer trucks and lots of pallets. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I don't
think so.

| Mykonos Cafe | Albuquerque, NM | |
|
My date urged me to try Greek food, so she and I went to Mykonos. If this
is how all Greek food is, then I want no part of it. Overpriced, miniature
portions, snotty help.
