Benny Huie's Restaurant Sheridan, OR
Greasy, crappy, mediocre Chinese combo plates. This place is a throwback -- and should be thrown back. Any Thai restaurant is better.
Riverview Mongolian Grill Corvallis, OR
Like most Mongolian grill places, this is mostly about getting mass quantities at a set price. It's very good for Atkins, though. You can go and just get meat and veggies without noodles and have an excellent cheap meal. Use lots of fire oil!
Pogy's Sandwiches Newberg, OR
High bread to meat/cheese ration makes these just okay. Personally, I like Quizno's and Subway better. The bread isn't that great either.
Jem 100 Ice Cream Saloon Newberg, OR
I like the concept, but I wish the ice cream was better. Still, when in Newberg it's a good place for the whole family to get a treat.
Bresler's 33 Flavors Ice Cream Shop Salem, OR
Damn mediocre ice cream. There's really no GOOD place for ice cream in Salem, but this isn't at the top of the crappy list.
Cold Stone Creamery Salem, OR
Very gooey ice cream. I have to wonder if it's just the butterfat or if there are stabilizers. I don't think the flavor of the ice cream by itself is that good. It's all about the mixins.
Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant Salem, OR
Typical Mexican-American joint. Big portions, modest prices, mediocre food. But you can get a big margarita!
Salvador's Bakery Woodburn, OR
Great taqueria. Also a panaderia with a great selection of eats. Definitely worth a stop. Worth a special trip even. Try the carnitas.
Lupita's Woodburn, OR
Really good taqueria in downtown Woodburn. Challenges Salvador's for tasty Mexican food. Very clean, too.
El Tapatio Restaurant Salem, OR
Another chain out of Portland that really can't hold a candle to the better local places in Salem like Los Baez. There's no reason to go here. Let them die.
Mazatlan Restaurant Newberg, OR
Part of a chain out of Portland. Not very good Mexican-American. About the best I can say is the portions are big.
Tacos Uruapan Corvallis, OR
A good place for a college student to eat cheaply and well. Not as good as the Taqueria Uruapan in Portland, but worth eating at on a budget.
Los Arcos Mexican Restaurant Salem, OR
This is a good place for Mexican-American and Pacific Coastal Mexican in Salem. It's like Los Baez but with an emphasis on fish dishes.
La Hacienda Real Salem, OR
Another place trying to knock Los Baez off the throne for Mexican-American in Salem. It's amazing how many decent places there are there. The house made tortillas really help lend some legitimacy to this place.
Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant Lebanon, OR
It's fine for a little joint in Lebanon, but I wouldn't be visiting them if they were in Salem where you have better places like Los Baez. Portions are big, prices aren't. Quality is good enough.
Los Dos Amigos Albany, OR
Not a bad Mexican-American place for Albany where the choices are slim. Quality and consistency could be improved, but at the prices, it's worth it.
El Mirador Salem, OR
Classic Mexican-American combo platters that competes with Los Baez for both gringo and Mexicano patrons. I like this one a little bit less, but it's worth visiting for piles of decent food.
The Roadhouse Grill Salem, OR
Mediocre chain. I like Applebee's better for steaks. About on par with Outback. It's all about mid-priced meat here and it's appropriately mid-quality.
Baja Fresh Salem, OR
Better than most fast food taco joints. On par with Chipotle. But this part of Salem has a TON of taquerias putting out really tasty Mexican, so save this for when you're stuck in the burbs.
Mcdonald's McMinnville, OR
When you're in the middle of Oregon's wine country, there's no reason to go to McDonald's unless you're LAME. If nothing else, try the little taqueria in McMinnville.
