| Fonduementale | Montreal, QC | |
|
A little pricey for melted cheese, but fundamentally, I'd
say that Fondumentale is pretty monumental. Especially since
winter is coming fast.

| Rib'n Beef Restaurant | Montreal, QC | |
|
This is a very nice place that has been completely renovated in
the last few years. It is most certainly NOT a RIB restaurant,
so do not go there expecting slabs of ribs and barbecued chicken.
The "rib" in the title is for 'ribsteak',
and steaks they got. They also got 'reef', and not the
kind you smoke - it's surf'n'turf all the way, baby

| Bagel Etc | Montreal, QC | |
|
Pretty good fare in a bustling location - right next to Schreter's
clothing store. Although the bagels are not St.Viateur or Fairmount,
they are still better than US bagels, which are merelu stale rolls
with dimples. The sandwiches are great, or just grab a coffee
and people watch all afternoon.

| Bonora Restaurant | Montreal, QC | |
|
I haven't eaten here in awhile, but it brings back memories
of shooting pool at Somerled Billiard hall and then grabbing
a sub at Bonora, right across the street. The pool hall is long
gone, but Bonora stands tall. The poutine is a unique treat, as
they use grated mozzarella in place of cheese curds, and then
they bake it in the oven like a lasagna...Gooey goodness

| Beauty's Restaurant | Montreal, QC | |
|
Used to be great, but they have been sitting on their laurels foor
too long. Yeah, the "Beautys Special" is a bagel with
cream cheese and lox, but that was unique a long time ago. And what
is with those potatoes?
I'm sorry, but there are better breakfasts.

| Casa Napoli Restaurant | Montreal, QC | |
|
This is a genuine Italian restaurant. No sushi here, and no smoked
chicken focaccia with sun-dried raspberry coulee! They serve
the classics and they serve them well. Situated in the heart of
Little Italy and features a great terrace - actually they plopped
a few tables on the sidewalk out front and planted some giant trees,
but it works!

| Eggspectations | Montreal, QC | |
|
I guess it's a good breakfast, but Montreal has always been
known to have great, privately-owned breakfast joints, and
this chain is putting some of our greats out of business. I bet
there is an equivalent or better place to get breakfast within
4 blocks of every Eggspectations.
|
||
| Chez Cora Dejeuners | Montreal, QC | |
|
I guess this chain seems less evil than Eggspectations, as I seem
to remember reading somewhere that all Cora's are owned
by the original cute old lady that started it all. Unfortunately,
the breakfasts are hit or miss.

| Dagwoods Sandwiches & Salades | Montreal, QC | |
|
Great, big sandwiches at decent prices in several locations.
Hard to believe but true. As a bonus, the owner of the chain is a sweetheart.

||
| Restaurant Au Vieux Duluth | Montreal, QC | |
|
Pretty good brochettes and what not. The best part is the location.
Duluth is a great street to stroll up and down after a good meal. I'd go back.
|
||
| Restaurant La Sirene | Montreal, QC | |
|
You can choose your own fish and then it is cooked to order! If you
want breaded, deep-fried sardines you just go to the fresh fish
counter and have the fishmonger weigh out as much as you'd
like and wammo! delicious!
|
||
| Casa Grecque Restaurants | Montreal, QC | |
|
First of all this is a Greek Restaurant, as the name states. SEcondly,
I think it's a bring your own wine so you won't hurt your
wallet. Thirdly, it's pretty good.

||
| Joe's Steak House | Montreal, QC | |
|
Legendary steakhouse. It has moved but has retained its'
boring business-suit lunch crowd. Always a dependable steak
in a classy atmosphere.
|
||
| Restaurant Toque | Montreal, QC | |
|
By far the most expensive restaurant in Montreal. The good thing
is that it is excellent in every way. The service is impeccable,
the food is all local and usually organic and the chef is at the
top if this game! Too bad the prices are so high. French classics
and some creative nouvelle-cuisine.
|
||
| Restaurant Bice | Montreal, QC | |
|
Good restaurant in an well-worn upper-crust section of downtown.
Trendy fusion food perfect for a pre-museum feast of decadence.
|
||
| Dilallo Burger Original | Montreal, QC | |
|
Awesome place!
These burgers are so thin you can "slide them under a door".
Really, that's the slogan and they ain't lying. There
are a few of these all over town, and all are consistently good.
Of course, how hard is it to make a burger? The fries are good too.
|
||
| Shed Cafe | Montreal, QC | |
|
Located on what used to be the hottest block in town, Shed Cafe
is still pretty trendy. You can get loaded by night with Montreal
ultra-cool hipsters from 2001, and then have a great brunch with
them to nurse your hangover and enjoy a day of shopping, or people
watching, on their lovely terrace.
|
||
| Biddle Jazz & Ribs | Montreal, QC | |
|
Decent food, but the strength of this place is the jazz, which
was good to begin with. Since Charlie Biddle passed away last
year, everyone who is anyone wants to play this place, so every
night is a good night.
|
||
| Buffet Maharaja | Montreal, QC | |
|
There are many reasons to eat at Buffet Maharaja. One is sheer
hunger. If you want to eat an unlimited amout of food, and you are
bored with Chinese buffets, this is the place for you.
Better yet, if you are an Indian food virgin and need to learn the
birds and curry-bees, this is a good 101-level course in Indian
cuisine. The hot isn;t hot enough, but what do want from a buffet,
It can;t be all that bad, as many Indian families at there...

||
| Pizzeria Napoletana | Montreal, QC | |
|
This place is the best pizza in Little Italy. Single serving pizzas
with thnin crusts, just like real Italian pizza. The toppings
are fresh, definitely not olives from a can. Avoid the weekday
lunch rush, and take a stroll after your meal to enjoy the sights.
