| Eulipia | San Jose, CA | |

I thought that this was a pleasant dining experience with good
service. The only thing that stood out was the Hearts of Romaine
salad. My husband and I thought that it tasted extraordinarily
good for something that usually is somewhat ordinary and everyday.

| Miyake | Cupertino, CA | |
|
I love the energy of this place. It is always busy and crowded.
I like the variety and creativeness of their sushi menu which
has traditional as well as local theme named maki rolls. The staff
are very friendly. There is a sister restaurant in Palo Alto.

| Buca di Beppo | Palo Alto, CA | |
|
This is a great place if you are eating with a large group of people.
Forget it if you are dining solo or as a couple. The entree sizes
are overwhelming. I like the spaghetti with the gigantic meatballs,
chicken cacciatore, linguine with clam sauce, and the green
beans (yummy with fresh lemon). Wear loose clothing as you will
be stuffed beyond belief. The salads are also absolutely huge.
It does tend to get busy here so expect to wait to be seated. They
do have a table right inside the kitchen. The decor is a bit kitschy.
I don't know what to think about eating at a table with a bust
of the Pope as the centerpiece.

| Max's Opera Cafe | Palo Alto, CA | |
|
For a chain, I think this place is pretty good. I like the matzo
ball soup, but then I'm not Jewish so I don't really know
how it is supposed to taste. I like their Chicken Marsala, too.
The best thing here is the strawberry shortcake which is only
available when berries are in season. Decadent!

| Ming's Villa | Palo Alto, CA | |
|
This is reasonably good Chinese food. Nothing really that spectacular.
It is pretty clean for a Chinese restaurant which is good. There
are cheaper and better places in the area for regular Chinese
and for dim sum.

| Scott's Seafood | Palo Alto, CA | |
|
I only keep coming here because people keep giving us gift certificates
for this place. Although the food is good...it isn't good
enough for the price. So, it boogles my mind why this place is so
popular. By the way, it is significantly better than the Oakland
location.

| La Fiesta | Mountain View, CA | |
|
I would probably give it a 2 star rating except for the fact that
my husband really likes this place and goes all the time with his
co-workers. There is something a little off about the food to
me. I have a certain expectation of how dishes will taste and somehow
it is a little different. I usually stick with the enchiladas.
Lots of people seem to like their mole, but I can't really
figure out why. I do like the variety of salsas they give you. And
the chicken consomme that comes before every meal is quite good
with hints of lime in it.

| Papillon | Fremont, CA | |
|
Having been to Paris, this isn't exactly authentic French
food. But if you don't go in expecting that the food is good.
A bit expensive though. My husband like the beef wellington (not
a french dish). The escargots were good, but a bit rich. I had the
duck which was okay. It was good but not enough I think for the price.

| Pho 99 Vietnamese Restaurant | Fremont, CA | |
|
I used to come here more often until Pho Pasteur II opened. But
it is reasonably okay pho. Although sometimes, the quality control
is lacking. I order a bowl of chicken noodle soup and there was
literally a 1/4 cup of chicken fat from the stock floating in my
bowl. Gross! I polished off my glass of water so that I could skim
off the grease. The pearl drinks here are not that good so I recommending
passing on them. By the way, this place is actually in Union City
not Fremont.

| Uncle Chong Chinese Restuarant | Fremont, CA | |
|
If you love China Chili, you won't like this place. This is
pretty authentic Cantonese style food. If you do speak Cantonese,
it is helpful as some of the staff will make some suggestions which
aren't on the menu. Their on-choy chow fu yee is yummy. They
will also adjust some dishes for you if you like. The combination
clay pot is pretty good too. My husband likes salt and pepper spareribs,
so we usually get that.

| Wonton City Restaurant | Fremont, CA | |
|
This is a hole in the wall place on of my friends recommended. I
tried it since I've been looking for a place to get cheap Cantonese
style noodle soups. It is a family run establishment. The food
is okay, but really not worth it. My husband doesn't like
this place since I make better tasting potstickers, noodle soups,
wontons, and jook at home.

||
| Yuk Wah Restaurant | Fremont, CA | |
|
This is another hole in the wall Cantonese style Chinese restaurant.
It is rather cheap and the portions are decent. The food is only
okay. If you come here, parking is located behind the restuarant
as there is no parking on Fremont Boulevard. Also, don't
come if it warm out, they don't have any AC. I am still looking
for a decent inexpensive place for Cantonese food.

| Bob's Hoagy Steak | Fremont, CA | |
|
This is a interesting little place. I doubt that Bob is still here
as the owners are now Korean. They have reasonably decent hoagies
here and the fries are steak fries, which are incidentally increasingly
difficult to find. The real attraction of this place are the hundreds
of gourmet hot sauces they have in stock. They usually have a least
10 bottles open for customers to try out at their little hot sauce
bar. The bottles are marked with hot ratings from 1 to 10+++. I
can usually handle up to 8 without crying. My husband can do the
10 and up, but only sparingly.

| Massimo's | Fremont, CA | |
|
I thought the food here was good, not outstanding which I would
expect for the price. The service was okay. I am not sure I would
come back though since I can trek over to Palo Alto for better food
for the same price. I think it is pretty popular since there is
a scarcity of nice restaurants in Fremont. Odd since so many people
live here unlike Berkeley which seems to have a large number of
great restaurants for such a small city.

||
| Elephant Bar | Fremont, CA | |
|
I tried this place because people kept telling me how good it was.
If you take away the jungle themed decor, it is really a lot like
TGI Fridays, not that I like that either. The food in general was
okay. Although most everything seemed to be really unhealthy
for you. I still can't figure out why this would be one of the
most popular restaurants in Fremont.

||
| Out Back | Fremont, CA | |
|
This place is super busy and crowded...for some reason all the
chain steakhouse type places in Fremont seem to be. Usually,
I won't review chains, but it is decent steak...not the best
in the area. I actually really like their brown bread and salad
that comes with the meal. Also, a little hint about being seated,
tell the hostess you don't mind eating in the bar area and
you can usually get seated right away.

| ABC Sea Food Restaurant | San Mateo, CA | |
|
This is a pretty good place for Chinese food. But it does cost a
little bit more than SF but what do you expect from the Pennisula.
The food is pretty fresh and well prepared.
|
||
| Caffe della Stelle | Walnut Creek, CA | |
|
The food here is pretty good here. They were very accomodating
for a large party. The place is noisy and busy, so it you are looking
for a quiet cozy meal skip this place. The pastas are good here.
|
||
| Koreanan Kitchen | Walnut Creek, CA | |
|
This is a good place to come if you want a lot of cheap Korean food.
The kimchee is decent here. There isn't any AC so it can be
warm in the summertime. I usually opt for the bimimbap bowl with
chicken or beef. I usually can't finish it. My guy friends
seem to like it for the generous amounts of meat.
|
||
| Una Mas | Walnut Creek, CA | |
|
Actually, I usually opt for the fish tacos here and haven't
been disappointed. The best feature is the salsa bar. It's
cheap and fast.
