| China Garden | Carrollton, GA | |
|
If you're lookin' for the Chinese buffet with the most variety
in Carrollton, GA, ...
This is THE place!
Some of my favorites include: muscles, stuffed clams, cheese fried
shrimp, crab rangoon, potato wedges, mushrooms, long baby corn, chicken
(or pork or steak) (a million different ways), steamed green beans,
sushi, cheesecake, and coffee flavored ice cream.
I didn't see any dolmades (grape leaves stuffed with rice), but
I only went to 2 of the 5 self-service buffet tables.
Mmm -- Can't wait to go back!

| Varsity | Atlanta, GA | |
|
Great -- AbSoLUtely the BEST chili dawgZ you will find on this planet,
and maybe the Universe! The Varsity was one of my favorite places to
eat in Hot'Lanta whenever I was there. I almost always got two chili
dogs (or one "Heavy Dawg" -- that's one hot dog and TWICE
the chili) "all the way" and added ketchup and red/cayenne
pepper, onion rings, and an F.O. (frosted orange) or a couple of P.C(s).
(plain chocolate milk over shaved ice).
I have come to know that it is much easier to eat this meal while sitting
at one of their tables in one of their many TV rooms. It is MUCH harder
to eat this while driving home -- MUCH!
One very memorable time, I took a "first date" to The Varsity.
I met three of my friends who were already there. As I was standing in
line, some person kinda pushed my back. I was about to turn around and
give them "what for" when I saw Mom with the silliest grin
on her face. Of course, I didn't give her "what for"
-- just a simple hug from her only child.
The Varsity always brings back many fond memories like that one and
the more times I go back, the more memories I make.

| Dinner's Ready | Villa Rica, GA | |
|
Dinner's Ready is a great place to eat!
Dad and I shared lunch with his Sunday school class. It was not crowded,
but with such tasty food and excellent service, I'm betting the
word will get out on how great a place this is.
They started us off with a Fried Pork Skin. After that, both Dad and I
had the Hamburger Steak. It was cooked to order, which for us meant Well
Done. It had that sorta "smokey, charcoaly" taste. It was
the best hamburger steak I've had in I can't remember when.
I chose to order the Cream Corn and the Fried Okra as my two vegetables.
Both were excellent. I chose the Yeast Roll and Dad chose the Cornbread.
We were both pleased.
For dessert, I went with the "Dessert of the Day", which
was a moist and fluffy cake with Peanut Butter icing. To drink, I had
a Diet Coke which, of course, came with unlimited refills.
The food was great. The service was great. The only thing that made it
better was good company.
This is one restaurant I can't wait to visit again and again!

| Melear Barbecue | Fayetteville, GA | |
|
Undoubtedly, "The Best of The Best" of all barbeque restaurants
in Georgia and quite possibly the world.
There used to be another Melear's Barbecue in Union City, Ga. While
it was open, it was #1. Now that they're gone (and after observing
a moment of silence for the passing of a Legend), the one in Fayetteville,
Ga has filled the void of the #1 spot.
As some other fans of barbeque joints have said about their favorite
establishment, "There's #1 and then there's everybody
else."
That's how I feel about Melear's. It's the best -- no questions
asked! You can't possibly get any better than The Best. That's
why you call it The Best.
It makes me hungry just thinking about them.
I can't wait to go back.
And did I mention the Brunswick stew and Sweet Tea? It's the best.
They make Brunswick stew "the way it's supposed to be made
-- without weird ingredients like Butter Beans."
Don't get me wrong. I love Butter Beans, but not in my Brunswick
stew. It's a Southern thang -- trust me!

| Evergreen Chinese Restaurant | Carrollton, GA | |
|
Not only the best Chinese restaurant in Carrollton -- possibly the
best in Georgia. You'd have to travel hours away to even come close
to the quality and service of this place.
It's great! And, it's been WAY too long since I've been
there.
In addition to a lunch buffet, you can order from the menu at lunch and
supper "in person" or over the phone and have your order
ready to be picked up when you arrive in a little while.
All ages and attires are welcome.
One of, if not the very BEST Chinese restaurants I've had the pleasure
of eating at in my lifetime!

| Mama Stone's Country Kitchen | Carrollton, GA | |
|
Several meats, vegetables, beverages, and desserts are represented.
I had fried chicken livers, sweet potato soufflé, black-eyed peas,
cornbread, fried green tomatoes, fried okra, macaroni and cheese,
some sort of chocolate dessert that looked like a cousin to the vanilla
cheesecake with which I ended the meal.
This buffet was $5.75, I think.
And for my beverage, I chose the "all so rare" Diet Mountain
Dew which got refilled more than once for less than $2.00, I think.
A great meal, only made better by our pleasant Sunday lunch companions
("The Lunch Bunch") from church.

| The Steak House | Rockmart, GA | |
|
I ate at The Steak House Saturday, October 20th, 2007. There was almost
no wait time since we arrived around 4:45 p.m. Later on, as we were leaving,
some other folks had been waiting, but I'm unsure how long.
Most, if not all, of the entrées came with a side salad, plenty of fresh,
hot, and tasty rolls for the whole table, and choice of a side from French
fries, baked potato, baked sweet potato, etc., and steamed vegetables.
I had the steamed vegetables which consisted of carrots, broccoli,
and cauliflower. They were all very tasty and a bit crisp.
For the entrée, it was hard to choose between old favorites of steaks,
barbeque, and chicken. I was about to choose barbeque, when out of another
dimension appeared the listing for Chicken Livers.
Of course, I chose the Chicken Livers. They can come battered and deep
fried OR sautéed in butter.
Both are probably great. I chose the fried.
At the end of my order, in addition to water and Diet Coke, I asked for
a cup of decaf coffee to be served at the end of my meal. It was delivered
at just the right time and really hit the spot as did the whole meal.
The Chicken Livers happened to be one of the cheaper priced choices
at less than $8.00. The Diet Coke was a little under $2. And, as far as
I could tell, the coffee was complementary.
Since there was no buffet, takeout trays were not a problem.
I would readily recommend The Steak House (in Rockmart, Ga) to everyone.
I had a great time and would like to visit again.
