| Gorat's Steak House | Omaha, NE | |
|
The resturant is old. Has regular customers that keep coming
back. Warren Buttet. Established menu that doesn't seem
to have changed over the years. I was not impressed. I had a T-bone
steak that was quiet thin (less that 3/4 inch). They serve pasta
with steaks (?).

| Gates & Sons Barbecue | Kansas City, MO | |
|
Gates actually has several locations in Kansas City. I ate at
the Main Street location. Good service, friendly staff, clean
resturant. Great ribs served "wet" with sauce. Good
flavor, tender and good portions. The smell just takes you away
when you enter the resturant. If you weren't hungry before
entering, you are once you are inside.

| Arthur Bryant Barbeque | Kansas City, MO | |
|
Located not far from the Jazz Museum, this resturant ranks up
at the top for goooood barbeque. Ribs are served "dry",
no sauce, and just fall off the bone. Sandwiches are big, I mean
really big and are served with fries. Pictures on walls indicate
that a few famous people have stopped by to get a taste of this barbeque.
A MUST stop when in the area.

| Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue | Kansas City, MO | |
|
Kind of an upscale barbeque place. I found the ribs to be alittle
dry on one visit, but very good and tender on another. Guest I just
came on a bad day. Good atmosphere located in old warehouse with
high ceilings.

| Cousins | Laurie, MO | |
|
Very good place to have breakfast when in the lake area. Internet
shows it to be in Gravious Mills but I think it's in Laurie.
I think they also serve lunch. Reasonable prices, great food
and generous servings. Stop in and try it.

| Hook & Hoof Restaurant | Osage Beach, MO | |
|
This establishment was recommended to me by a sports fisherman.
The type that gets up before dawn to catch the "big one."
They also get up before dawn so they down have to see what their
eating. Prices started at around $10.00 and worked their way
up to about $30.00 depending on how much "buffet"
you want to try. Sport fishermen sort of eat quantity not quality.
This was explained to me by the fisherman who recommended it to
me in the first place. There are alot better buffets around. I
wouldn't recommend anyone eat here, unless you're
a sports fisherman.

| J B Hook's Great Ocean Fish | Lake Ozark, MO | |
|
We wanted to do a casual dinner and this looked like the place to
do it. I had seen an ad is Gourmet magazine and suggested that we
stop. The main dining area was full with quiet a wait, so we opted
for the deck dining area off the bar. I ordered ribs and found that
they were cold and not done on-site. My friend ordered a ceasar
salad and it wasn't even close, unless you count the dressing.
The only thing we really enjoyed was the view of the lake, approximately
7 miles in both directions. May try it again and see what the main
dining area is like.

| The Sand Bar | Marco Island, FL | |
|
Neighborhood sports bar. If there are alot of cars in front of
the place, stop in and see what's going on. We were looking
for a casual spot for an evening meal when we spotted all the cars.
We soon found out why. Great atmosphere, great food, reasonable
prices and big servings. The grouper on the grouper sandwich
does not fit the bun. It hangs over by about 2 inches. During our
week stay in Marco Island, we ate there 3 times. The desserts aren't
bad either! Stop by and give it a try if your in the area. It can be
seen from Bald Eagle Drive.

| Doc Ford's Sanibel Rum Bar and Grill | Sanibel, FL | |
|
I have been reading the Doc Ford series of novels by Randy Wayne
White. When we went to Florida in January 2005, we heard about
the resturant and decided to try it. It's on the corner of
Rabbit Road and Sanibel-Captiva Road near the Ding Darling Wildlife
Refuge. It's kind of a sports bar with the locals in evidence
in the evenings and maybe Randy Wayne White himself. The food
is great and the mojitos are wonderful. We ate there three times
and enjoyed each meal. The conch chowder and the clam chowder
were really good and the keylime pie the best of our two week stay
in south Florida. I am looking forward to going back again.

| Jerry's Foods | Sanibel, FL | |
|
This location is kind of a grocery/deli/souvenir establishment.
You can stop by for a quick lunch and do your souvenir shopping
then get a few things at the grocery store. The meal we had was great.
The have daily specials, sandwiches, salads, etc. They also
have a good dessert selection. Recommend this establishment
for a quick meal while sightseeing.

| Frankie and Louie's | Sunrise Beach, MO | |
|
This is a bar/grill operation with several good items on the menu.
Dress is really, really casual and patrons arrive by car and boat
as it's on an inlet of the Lake of the Ozarks. Local blues bands
entertain patrons on the outdoor covered patio. Great place
to just kick back and relax listening to some good music.
