| Pizza Inn | Azle, TX | |

Pizzas are more than $5-10 of course.
Really inconsistent food. **Can** be excellent ... but doesn't happen very often. Run by incompetents. The management must be awful because their staff changes constantly. The good employees never last long... not suprisingly. Unfortunately, the staff members that stay behind are not ones who are competent or who care about either customer service or the quality of food they serve. They care just as little about the appearance or cleanliness of the restaurant as the place is consistently filthy. This isn't a temporary problem because it's been like this since they bought the place out from the previous owners & changed it to a Pizza Inn (which has been quite a while now). Sad because when Pizza Inn's food is cooked per company specs, it can be really good. Apparently, these folks wouldn't know how to follow [franchise] instructions if their lives depended upon it... or else they simply don't care. Equally apparent is that management must not care either. |

Having been a customer of theirs almost since they opened, I have
to say, generally, I really love this place! Their food is almost
always really good. I *love* their queso; the chips are normally
really good. The sauce is "okay, " not the best but not bad. And
the tea is always great!
The Chicken Fiesta dinner is fantastic and is made with some sort of great-tasting marinade or other blend of spices. I love it! It's really a great blend of chicken and vegetables! They don't consistently make it the way it is on the menus so if what you read is what you really want you may have to point out the discrepancies (normally they forget the mushrooms and celery Service is pretty flakey ranging from *really* excellent to ...good but *overbearingly* friendly & invasive to ...*really* poor service. Just depends on who you get for a waiter. Prices are average to high for this area but average for mexican food in the metroplex. The wait can be really bad at times. I've given up eating there on Friday & Saturday nights - unless I want to eat late (9pm or later)! Think it's just too many people in the area & not enough decent eateries! Definitely a great place to find a trooper! Even on Tuesday nights! I've only got one major gripe & it's happened at least 3 times over the last 6 months so I haven't been eating there **nearly** as much lately. I keep waiting for them to "get it together" but that hasn't happened yet. Here's the gripe: They'll charge for details not on the menu or for substitutions (i.e. one type beans for another) and won't tell you. Then after they screw up (i.e. bringing you *both* types of beans), they say they *won't* charge you (for their mistake), they **do.** When you call them on it after getting the bill, they still won't take off the extra charges (after having said they would initially) instead giving lots of excuses about why they can't and blame it on the management and their "policies." They've done this in the past but not to this degree. It ends up being like some weird bait & switch sort of thing! I don't really care about the beans - that's trivial - but I really hate it when they just can't get their act together. Eventually they'll update the menus to reflect the correct charges but until then... good luck. Talking hasn't worked. Throw a fit is my best guess & who knows if that'd even really work. Doubt it. Maybe if you got really loud & maniacal... Mostly, it's just not worth it. They don't really seem to "care" about customer satisfaction as much as they did at one time. They're super-busy frequently which you'd think would be an indicator of their quality. I suspect it's more an indicator of too many people and *way* too few decent local restaurants to choose from. |

Fantastic hot sauce - I love the stuff! Sometimes a little on the
garlic-ey side but even then it's normally really, really good!
If you don't like it hot, then you probably won't like this stuff!
Their chips are normally good. I don't like the queso, but that's
just me! Their guacamole is almost always really, really good
too.
Great breakfasts! Huevos Con Chorizo is my favorite! Good amount of food, good taste, good prices. They are more than willing to change an entree or item to suit your tastes - at least they have every time I've asked them. They're really great about that! The Carne Asada is normally good & the Fajitas are really quite a bit of food for the price! The wait staff can be really quite good but can also be very moody, surly, & downright impatient if you don't order on their time schedule. Just depends on who you get and, I guess, the time of day or day of the week (who knows)! The base prices are really good & as long as you keep it basic but they can "nickel & dime" you to death. But it's not bad really since they start out pretty cheap to begin with. The atmosphere - leaves room for improvement! Not absolutely horrid but not that great. If you have any chemical sensitivities, the place can really get you at times. They use some sort of cleaning product (which is great, right, they clean the place Overall, good food, good amounts, good prices! |

Great onion deal (fried onion blossom sort of thing) - great taste,
great price!
Good steaks normally. The steaks are very "well thought of" by, seemingly, most all the locals. Good burger & fries. Great tea! Small (basic) but nice salad bar. Good chicken-fried steak. Not really over-priced for the amount of food you get and the taste. Lots of flies every time I've been in there - which can be slightly annoying!!! Atmosphere okay. It's a small place. They generally get very, *very* busy. Wait staff *can* be really great but not always friendly or pleasant. They are always working very hard, so... whachagonnado!!! |

Most everything I've tasted here has been just fantastic! Food
from the buffet is always temperature-appropriate & tasty!!!
Fantastic variety of food from main entrees and side dishes to
salads and desserts.
The wait staff are generally just fantastic. Very attentive, very helpful, & pleasant! Some of the best in the area! The steaks are normally good but most definitely over-priced for what you get. The bad part is that if you have any left over from your dinner, they're really paranoid that you're going to take something from their precious food bars (I don't really care for buffets much) & so instead of just bringing you a to-go container like would be 'normal, ' they have to take your plate to the manager & then they can bring you a container. It's incredibly offensive. I understand their position (defined as "their problem") but it's still offensive (thus, they make it "my problem" - hahaha). Atmosphere - nice enough but frequently very loud because they're so busy & so full of kids & families! Through it all, I love the place! |

| El Paseo Mexican Restaurant | Azle, TX | |

The food is quite greasy as a rule, however, some of the entrees
are actually very good. If you can deal with the grease, the food
is generally good. The chicken fajitas have great taste - great
marinade. The beef fajitas can be good depending upon the meat
they use; they can also be just awful. The hamburgers are generally
very good - particularly for a **mexican** restaurant - and are
actually NOT greasy. The cheese sauce is a really good deal for
the price & pretty tasty too!
They're currently expanding/improving the seating arrangements
(July 2000) which is needed because the town is growing so their
business is rapidly expanding/increasing. The wait can be a
while if they're busy which is often anymore. The atmosphere
can be loud but isn't terrible - particularly for a small town
& a mexican restaurant.
The wait staff range from extremely good and quite efficient
to still technically "good" but extremely surly and downright
rude, particularly if you have a problem with the food and have
to have it replaced (They REALLY don't like that & can hold a grudge
for a LONG time [sorry but I don't like greasy food
