| Koffee Korner | Media, PA | |
|
This place is open for Breakfast and lunch in Media. I work night shift
and go out with the wife for breakfast once a week.I 've eaten at
a lot of places and breakfast is usually reasonably priced. Its also
a good way to start the day. Koffee Korner is family owned. Another customer
told me its run by two sisters. Its very friendly and there are many regulars.
I got something called "Yellow submarine" which is a breakfast
sandwich and wife got pancakes. They have maple syrup-for added cost-if
you don't want to pour HFCS on your pancakes. The food is good and
the coffee is OUTSTANDING. Its the best coffee in Media. I asked the
staff about it and was told they purchase it locally from a Coffee importer/roaster.
While eating I noticed people coming ina getting take out coffee. I
can understand why. You have lawyers from the courthouse, workers, locals, etc.
all eating here.

| Zac's Hamburgers | Crum Lynne, PA | |
|
Zac's has four locations in Delaware County-Media, Folsom, Aston, Crum
Lynne. This is the original place. Its small but does have a small eating
area. The other Zacs have bigger dining rooms, but this is still my
favorite. Burgers cooked on a grill right in frot of you. You can add
cheese, tomato, lettuce, relish, pickle, sweet peppers, hot
peppers, mayo, ketsup, mustard and onions. One of my kids gets everything
on it, another plain with just ketsup. They also make great shakes.
This branch has ac Saturday special-10 burgers for $14. I stop by and
get the bag of 10 burgers and it feeds the family for lunch or dinner.
Add some fries and shakes and you're all set. This one is closed
on Sunday but the othe ones are not. Some offer the 10 burger special
on Sunday.

| Charlies Hamburgers | Folsom, PA | |
|
This place has a big following. Little white building with a counter
and a few seats at the window facing out. Burgers, fries and shakes-no
pizza, no hoagies. I 've also eaten hot dogs here. The burgers
are small but very inexpensive-made right on a grill in front of you.
If you take out they use the plastic roll bags to pack your order. This
place was recycling before it became the hot thing. The burgers are
the best I've ever eaten.

| Leo's Steak Shop | Folcroft, PA | |
|
The all time best cheesesteak in the Philadelphia region. I grew up
in South Philly and have been to every place there-the tourist traps
and the little neighborhood places.I also try places while on vacation
and places"off the beaten path". This place tops them all.
It started across the street at a Trolley station. Its small and family
owned. No place to sit-take out only. No french fires, no pizza, just
cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks, hoagies, etc. They put a tremendous
amount of meat on, you could make two sandwiches with it.

| Claymont Steak Shop | Claymont, DE | |
|
There's a sign for this place when you exit I-495 near Claymont.
Always curious about it. Stopped in to check out due to reviews. Its
not a little neighborhood place-which I expected. It is a fairly big
place with an eating/dining area. The cheesesteaks are very good and
they don't skimp on meat. Tried a sausage sandwich which was half
the price of a cheese steak and outstanding. I would list it in my top
five cheesesteak places. I grew up in South Philly and this place is
as good as any neigborhood place in Philly.

| Penny's Family Restaurant | Primos, PA | |
|
There was a review of this place in the Inquirer a few years ago. I drove
past it, never thought to stop in until the article. Neighborhood
family-diner style place. Had breakfast, eggs and Cream chipped
beef. Good food, very large portions. Good crowd inside. Many seemed
like regulars. Family owned and they paid attention to what was going
on. If I lived nearby-type of place I'd stop in for breakfast or
lunch regularly.

| Zac's Hamburgers | Primos, PA | |
|
Ate here twice. It was OK but for some reason not as good as the Zac's
in Crum Lynne. Its since been closed and there is a new Zac's in Folsom
PA. It took over an Arby's that closed suddenly. Haven't been
there yet but it seems crowded.

| Tony Luke's | Philadelphia, PA | |
|
This is a place I would make a trip to its soo good. I was at Penn's
Landing in Philly with the family to see the Irish Naval Vessel docked
there. After our tour I decided to stop at Tony Lukes on the way home-about
20 miles. As mentioned by another reviewer its basically a roadside
stand with tables-but you can sit down and eat. There are round peppers
and pickles by the table so you can grab as much as you want. The menu is
huge but I've never eaten anything but their cheesesteaks or roast
pork. A friend raves over the breakfast sandwich but I'll try that
another time. Although I think the cheesesteaks are great, I can get
great cheesesteaks at other places I go to. Not so with roast park. So
we all got roast pork with provolone cheese and spinach rabe(wife likes
the broccli rabe better). Man they were so good it almost leaves you
speechless! Tender, juicy, full of flavor and a great roll. I keep
thinking I'll try another item from their menu but always end up
ordering the same.

| Hank's Place | Chadds Ford, PA | |
|
I gave this place another try after trying in 2005. The seating "system"
was the same but this time an attentive employee-not a waiter but someone
bussing tables saw us and pushed two tables together for our group of
six. Its a neat looking place inside and the food, ingredients and
attention to detail were impressive. We ordered eggs and fruit(peach)
pancakes. Everything was great and the guy who pushed the tables togeteher
for us came back to check on us. We all liked it and I'd return-bit
during non peak times. There are not a lot of places around here to get
a great breakfast/brunch.

| Louie's Pizza | Rehoboth Beach, DE | |
|
My first trip to Rehoboth. Every beach I got to I look for both a cheap
bagel/bakery/coffee type place for breakfast and a Pizza place for
lunch or early dinner after the beach. I found the other review helpful
and picked this place over Grotto-I'll try Grotto another time
to be fair.I liked this place, located right at the center of everything.
There is a takeout window and a small dining room next door, maybe 6
booths and 3-4 tables. Like most of the places the wait staff are youngsters
but quick and efficent. The menu is limited(which I like) with pizza, fries
and a few sandwiches. The item sizes are posted on the walls so you don't
have to ask"How large is large?". We five ordered a large
pizza and large cheese fries. This easily fed all of us. Food came out
fast. Cheese fries had an enormous amount of chees baked on. Eating
them was a challenge.Kids got a kick out of this. Pizza was beach pizza
but very good beach pizza.

| Famous Dave's | Springfield, PA | |
|
This is one of those places that was PACKED! when it first opened with
long lines. There aren't a lot of rib places around. It has great
Ribs and we went in that off time between lunch and dinner and had the
place to ourselves-almost. It can be pricey or reasonable depending
how you order. There are early specials , which we got at great savings. It
was cheaper then a takeout place near me and the food was better. The
side dishes are also excellent. Service was good and I'd return.

| Wimpys | Media, PA | |
|
I passed this place when returning from a Summer Concert at Rose Tree
park. I came back when it was open. They do a booming lunch business but
parking was not a problem. They have a "Wimpy's" card
that is scanned and will give you a free sandwhich after purchasing
ten. Although their burgers and dogs looked good they also had some
other interesting specials. I got a chicken teriyaki sandwhich. It
was great. They have a Web site and it lists their complte menu.

| Jake's Hamburgers | Chadds Ford, PA | |
|
Jake's is a well known place in Delaware and frequently wins best
burger awards. They've expanded in other States and this location
is the only one in PA, but literally right at the PA/DE border on Route
202. I was at the Movie theater up the street and they were passing out
fliers for this place. They have a Mon-Fri lunch special that includes
a cheeseburger, drink and side( Fries or Salad) for $5. In addition
if you order a regular priced meal you get a free kids meal. I was with
my kids and saved over seven dollars with this. Now for the food. The
burger is aloose packed type , very tasty. I'd rate it slightly
better then Zacs or Five Guys but slightly lower then Charlies in Folsom.
The hot dogs were good and a decent size. The side salad was a bargain.
Besides fountain Sodas-self serve, they have unsweetened Ice Tea
that you sugar yourself.

| Primo Hoagies | Prospect Park, PA | |
|
The Original Primo's is an award winning Hoagie spot in South Philly.
This location is a franchise that just opened in April, 2009. A plus
is the small size, perfect for kids and light eaters. I got six different
types in small size to sample. Delicious!! As good as anything I've
had growing up in South Philly. They have a lot of different type hoagies
and I let all my kid's pick out what they wanted. An interesting
meatless variation is the "Nonna's Veggie". Nonna
is what we called our Gramma growing up. It contains eggplant, sharp
provolone, broccoli rabe and roasted red peppers.Cost for a small
$4.39. The bread(roll) is outstanding and puts it above my other favorites
in the area.

| Double Decker Pizza | Ridley Park, PA | |
|
Located in the Ridley Park Business district. There's a wine store
across the street, a 7-11 and and Chinese takeout next door. So as you'd
expect it gets BUSY on weekends. Very good Pizza but the unique item
is the"Inside Out" available with numerous fillings.
You can ask for the baked or fried-both ways are tasty. I've had
it with pepperoni, meatballs, Italian sausage and more. You can
order for the whole crew and each kid can geta different filling. They're
about 3 bucks a piece.

| Jimmy John's Pipin Hot | West Chester, PA | |
|
An interesting place, hot dogs, hot soup, cheese steaks, etc. Parking
lot has spaces for big rigs and you see everyone in here. Locals, truckers, yuppies
and so on. A kid friendly place and I really like the cheese steak. Its
just the right size for kids or an adult who usually forces himself to
eat a whole one at other places. Oddly enough I don't vare for their
dogs but like everything else. The restrooms are outside, you have
to walk to the front of the building.

| Korner Diner | Newark, DE | |
|
I ate here after going to the annual Newark Film Festival. Lots of places
to eat in Newark(my first time here). I picked this place because they
were a sponsor , my ticket stub gave me a discount and I love classic diners.
This looks like an O'Mahoney 1950's diner. Boy I loved seeing
it and only a few modifications. Our group of six ate everything from
breakfast, flounder and french fries with cheese , something you
can't do at a pizza place or fast food.. They do have huge portions,
a counter with stools and classic diner booths with stainless steel
everywhere. The food was decent and service good. A great ocation with
all these neat shops and coffee places nearby.

||
| Mac Dade Diner | Darby, PA | |
|
I stopped by here for breakfast. They had a special in the window.
Mon-Friday you can get eggs, coffee, home fries and toast for
$1.99 or short stack pancakes , coffee also $1.99.The food came
out lightning fast and our bill was $4.12 for two specials-You
can't beat that. The place is not fancy, plain but clean
with a small parking lot and both smoking and non-smoking sections.

| Swarthmore Pizza | Swarthmore, PA | |
|
You can get pizza here brought to your table and placed on a tall
stand. They also have typical Southern Italian dishes and the
specials are usually a good deal and varied. It gets very crowded
on weekends. You see neighborhood people and parents visiting
their kids at Swarthmore College(about a mile up the road)eating
here.

||
| Hank's Place | Chadds Ford, PA | |
|
I've heard this was agreat place to eat but gets crowded.
I was visiting the nearby Brandywine river Museum and decided
to combine the visit with eating here. I never did get inside.
There is a small entryway with people waiting. No one takes your
name and there didn't appear to be any hostess, but a server
would open the door and say we have a four-top, or three-top, etc.
available. I pushed pass the crowd to peek in( and got dirty looks
from people thinking I was breaking their honor system) and didn't
see any tables big enough for us-party of six. I just gave up and
left.
