| Passage | Truckee, CA | |
The Passage is a Truckee landmark in an mining era brick hotel
on main street. Cedar Planked Salmon and Choice steaks head the
menu. The bar features "the wall of scotch" over 50
single malts and has had impromtu music from Paul McCartney and
Jimmy Buffet. For old Truckee atmmosphere it is a must.

| Tahoe Taps | Truckee, CA | |
Fun sports bar across form town ball fields and rodeo grounds.
Draws young locals for pizza, salads and subs. Can get rockin
late night with live music. Great place to meet active young crowd,
snowboard hangout in winter, and good if not spectacular food.

| Timbercreek Restaurant | Truckee, CA | |
At the Nothstar ski resort, tries hard but falls short of other
top dollar places in Tahoe. The food is creative but lacks consistent
execution and so gets just the three stars. Great decor and environmet,
worth a stop if you are in town for a longer stay.

| Takah Sushi | Aspen, CO | |
I lived in Aspen for three years and found Takah to be a dependable
place to take visitors for a treat. Fun, not formal atmosphere
and always good food.
| Zele Espresso | Aspen, CO | |
Great locals stop for coffee and baked goods. Owned by the high
school soccer coach, you will find some of the best skiers and
athletes in town fueling up any given morning. Very social spot.

| Ute City Bar & Grill | Aspen, CO | |
Great place for lunch and people watching. Large windows open
on to a busy walking street in a very upscale shopping area. Classic
French cooking by Chef/Owner Maurice Coutirer who can be found
drinking with the patrons later. Table side magic shows are a
recent addition in the evenings.
| Blue Maize | Aspen, CO | |
Santa Fe comes to Aspen, always busy in season with great local
following. Small space and open seating means its not the best
for an intimate meal, but it is for a group or social time.
| New York Pizza | Aspen, CO | |
Great place, good fix for food while bar hopping in Aspen. Laid
back atmosphere with lots of locals.
| Lucci's | Aspen, CO | |
Good value at the early bird special. Food is dependable but nothing
inventive. Small bar stays pretty quiet and is good for a glass
of wine and conversation.
| Johnny Mc Guire's Deli | Aspen, CO | |
Awesome subs! Very popular local's joint with outdoor seating
in season. If you're in Aspen don't miss it!
| Little Ollies | Aspen, CO | |
Great local lunch place with delivery for dinner. Staff will
gladly do special orders. Family run means consistent and friendly.
| Red Onion Restaurant | Aspen, CO | |
I lived in Aspen for three years and only ate here twice, some of
the worst Mexican food I ever had. Place survives on liqour sales.
Service is on par with food.
| Cantina | Aspen, CO | |
As three year Aspen resident I can recommend Cantina for great
quesadillas and happy hour! Dinner is just average but the outdoor
patio dining makes it a great place to relax and people watch.

| Zebadiah's Restaurant & Bar | Angel Fire, NM | |
Typical bar food, lots of deep fried choices but does have a fresh
salad bar and pretty good mexican. Loud bar crowd and smoking
were drawbacks.
| Angel Fire Country Club | Angel Fire, NM | |
What a great find in the little town of Angel Fire. Lots of variety
with fresh food and great service. Chile dusted trout, smoked
duck gumbo, and root chips with truffle oil were my favorites.
Large naturally lighted bar and casual surroundings made us
feel comfortable.Definately worth another stop. Too bad its
only open for summer and fall.
| Eske's Brew Pub | Taos, NM | |
Good green chile stew, not your typical bar food more into the
latent hippies in Taos. Healthy and fresh with good stout beer.
just off the plaza, has live music once a week or so.
| Alley Cantina | Taos, NM | |
Great lunch place just off the plaza in an old adobe. Low ceilings
and stucco give lots of local flavor. Pretty basic fare through
dinner when the place thrives as a locals bar with plenty of live
music.
| El Taoseno Restaurant | Taos, NM | |
Simple food in a clean but slightly sterile atmosphere. Traditional
chile and Northern New Mexico fare, consistent and reasonably
priced.
| Sagebrush Inn | Taos, NM | |
Past its prime. Still great bar with local funk but the merger
with conference center next door has killed the local flavor.
Food is good but hardly inspired.
| Humpty's Cafe | Tahoe City, CA | |
The stars are for the music not the food! Typical bar burgers and
fried stuff with an adequate pizza, but the place thrives as a
venue for almost famous and cult acts touring the west coast.
Close to Reno it draws many acts that would never play a small venue
like this. I saw Etta James and Leftover Salmon in the same week
one winter.
