| Original Pantry Cafe | Los Angeles, CA | |
|
The Pantry has been in business for over 75 years and there are
several reasons for it:
1) The Food - it's good, plentiful and tastes homemade!
2) The Price - Where can you get a 1" thick steak dinner for $13?
3) The service - Fast and friendly, with entertaining and attentive
waiters.
You will be stunned by the portion sizes and by the homemade taste... The pantry is outstanding, and you may find yourself outstanding (in line to get in that is) but it's worth the wait! For a fast meal, order items from the 'Chalkboard' or have one of their world-famous steaks (I recommend the Top Sirloin HIGHLY). Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner before the game at the Staples Center! |

| The Rio - Seafood Buffet | Las Vegas, NV | |
|
Seafood, seafood and even MORE seafood! This is THE BEST Seafood
Buffet in town! BUT, it's one of the most EXPENSIVE buffets in
town also (which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5).
Fresh fish, shrimp, crab and even lobster (sometimes) is on hand
for as much as you would like to eat!

||
| Circus Circus Buffet | Las Vegas, NV | |
|
Well, Circus Circus won't win any prizes for their buffet, unless
it's for best mediocre buffet. The selection is basic, the food
tastes like it has had the flavor cooked out of it on purpose and
even the ice cream was bland! You are MUCH better off heading to
just about ANY of the other hotels in Las Vegas for a better buffet!

| Top of the world | Las Vegas, NV | |
|
Being located at the top of the Tallest building west of the Mississippi
(or in the USA?) gives this restaraunt the BEST views you could
hope for! Not to mention that it ROTATES so you can see the entire
Las Vegas area, all the way to the mountains and with all it's shimmering
lights at night (the best time to go). Now, with that said, the
food was outrageous! Outrageously DELICIOUS that is! And the
service, well, I have not had such good service anywhere else
in Las Vegas! The drinks are mixed well also, and the only complaint
I had about this lovely place was having to wait (20 min) in the
lounge for our table (we had reservations afterall!) but I know
it was because people just don't want to leave after eating! Oh,
and if you are entertaining someone for the first time, this is
"THE" place to take them... What could be more romantic?

| Ruth's Chris Steak House | Las Vegas, NV | |
|
Well, seems like ALL the Ruth's Chris' Steakhouses are pretty
much the same... Good food, not tooooo expensive, but A La Carte?
Sorry but I like a full service dinner myself.
There are better steakhouses in Las Vegas, but not better steaks. These are good grain-fed beefsteaks, but for the price they should be! Having eaten at two different Ruth's Chris', I don't think I will be going back - Nice to try but nothing spectacular, and for Las Vegas, that means no-repeat. |

| Bally's$Las Vegas Restaurants Big | Las Vegas, NV | |
|
Bally's Big Kitchen restaraunt is one of the nicer 'buffets'
in town! It's really not your standard buffet because you dine
at a fine table, complete with linens and china, but you do take
your plate into the kitchen and pick from several chefs stations
within the kitchen. From steaks to pastas, seafood, mexican
food, chinese, etc. it's YOUR choice! The decor is interesting
in the kitchen as well, with it's large sized cans and crates and
everything shiny stainless steel. The food is excellent and
cooked to order if you like! I highly recommend it!

| Palazzio Trattoria Italiana | Santa Barbara, CA | |
|
This is a GREAT place for family dining, or for a first date! Casual
and fun with really GREAT food! But be ready to wait in line if you
don't make reservations.

||
| Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel | Santa Barbara, CA | |
|
Great food with elegent atmosphere. Dress up for this place though,
they won't let you in with shorts and T-shirts! I highly recommend
their Sunday Brunch followed by a walk on Butterfly Beach (right
across the street) to help settle your meal.

| Beachside Bar-Cafe | Goleta, CA | |
|
The Beachside Bar-Cafe is located ON the beach, yes... ON the
beach! Literally right at the edge of the sand in fact, and has
a spectacular view of the Pacific and the Channel Islands. The
food is good and plentiful, the staff is friendly and attentive.
Dress is casual of course, as is witnessed by the khaki shorts
and Hawaiian shirts the staff wear. Great drinks too, this place
is a hot spot for happy hour because it is located close to UCSB
and many large companies in the Goleta Valley, which means a mix
of students and professionals.

| Elephant Bar & Restaurant | Goleta, CA | |
|
The E-Bar (as it is locally known) is located at the Santa Barbara
Airport (which is actually IN Goleta) and has some pretty good
views of planes taking off and landing and such - IF you get seated
on the patio that is... The food is very good, prices are good as
well with many specials, early-birds and happy hour items. This
is a real 'Locals' bar and eatery with a student and young executive
clientel. Great drinks, Great food and good prices too! Oh, and
you don't even have to pay for parking because it's on the opposite
side of the airport from the terminal, with FREE parking!

||
| Hamburger Habit | Goleta, CA | |
|
The Hamburger Habit started at this location in Goleta and has
spread out to several locations now... Probably because the
food is so good! As the name implies, Hamburgers are their mainstay
and they are really good at them, but they also have other great
food too! Cheap and good, you can't go wrong... But be ready to
wait in line during lunch and dinner, but you won't wait long,
the staff is fast!
|
||
| Presto Pasta | Goleta, CA | |
|
Presto Pasta is named because they are FAST! This dine-in or take-out
restaraunt in Goleta has really caught on and they are now spreading
out around California, some with DRIVE THRU even!
PP gives you good food for a good price, and it doesn't take very long (Presto!)... Everything is made to order, but most items are 'pre-blanched' in order to cook up faster and they pasta is made fresh (not dried) so it too only takes a couple of minutes to cook. They give you many choices of pasta shapes & sizes, as well as different sauces and choices of meats and such. I HIGHLY recommend this place for a casual lunch or dinner - not romantic at all, but FAST, FAST, FAST! |
||
| Pepe's Mexican Food | Goleta, CA | |
|
A little out of the way, but has pretty good food and a casual atmosphere.
The bar makes some good drinks and the food is your typical mexican
food.
|
||
| Jasper's Saloon | Goleta, CA | |
|
Nice place for a romantic dinner for two... Good food and drink,
and quiet too... Plenty of free parking and just across the parking
lot is the Fairview Theatre, so dinner and a movie is definately
in order!
|
||
| Luigi's Pizza & Pasta | Goleta, CA | |
|
What can I say about Luigi's?!? It's a great place to eat! Food
is good, family atmosphere, game room for the kids, prices are
reasonable and they have take-out and delivery too! Their Pizza
is better than the pasta, but hey, that's why it's called Luigi's
PIZZA and Pasta, not pasta & pizza...
|
||
| California Taco | Goleta, CA | |
|
Although it's called Cal-TACO, this little hideaway restaraunt
makes some really good burgers and chicken sandwiches too! A
favorite of many workers, this place does a GREAT LUNCH business
and not too bad for dinner either. It's owned and run by the same
people who started the Hamburger Habit, so they have equally
good food here. Taco's are great, burrito's too and the fries
are the best in the area!
|
||
| Alex's Cantina | Goleta, CA | |
|
Alex's in Goleta is a hot little Cantina! Lot's of dancing in the
evenings and weekends to guest DJ's and, upon occasion, live
music as well. Alex's is really known for their DRINKS though
which are large and strong - a favorite of the college crowd.
The food is good, and the tortillas are made fresh on a tortilla making machine which is viewable by the customers... They also have a great 'All you can eat' buffet for lunch. Good food, good drinks, good music... What more could you ask for? |
||
| Good Earth Restaurant | Goleta, CA | |
|
Ahhh, the Good Earth... That's what many locals say... A nice
but fairly casual dining spot which strives to serve food which
is healthy and wholesome. The atmosphere is garden-like inside
and the staff is friendly and courteous.
Frequented by the 'older' generations, the Good Earth has discounts and specials for seniors. Oh, and it's right next to the fairview car wash, so you can pop in, drop off your car and tell them you will be at the Good Earth for lunch (or dinner) and then just have a nice relaxing and healthful meal while they clean all that mud off your Sport Utility Vehicle... |
||
| Italia Pizzeria | Goleta, CA | |
|
Italia Pizzeria is not the best pizza in town... It's just 'OK'...
But it is located right next to the Fairview Theatre so they do
a lot of dinner&movie business... Otherwise, if you like a small,
quaint, checkered tablecloth kind of pizza place, then you'll
do fine here... But I would recommend the Lasagne over the pizza...
|
||
| Ming Dynasty | Goleta, CA | |
|
For Chinese food in Goleta, Ming Dynasty is the ONLY place to go!
The atmosphere is beautiful with all the traditional Chinese decor and some really nice aquariums too and the family which owns and runs the restaraunt is friendly and fast! The menu is fairly standard, but if you want something 'special' they will do what they can to make it YOUR way (I once had a friend who wanted mild Kung-Po - and they did it! Don't know HOW, but they did...) This is a nice place to go for a date, or for a family also. Oh, and their drinks are generous too! Don't miss Ming Dynasty if you like Chinese! |
