| Restaurant Name | City |
Rating

| Nuevo Vallarta | Pullman, WA | |
A fairly run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant. It's not
bad but does nothing to distinguish itself, food-wise. The service
is excellent however, but only one basket of chips? C'mon,
that's the best part of eating Mexican!

| Rancho Viejo | Pullman, WA | |
Rancho Viejo has a very large menu, which reflects a larger than
usual variety of dishes. Prices are a little higher, but the food
is good and the service is excellent. And an endless supply of
chips!

| D and D Bar and Grill | Bend, OR | |
If you want a very, very cheap breakfast, or need a Bloody Mary
after a night of binge drinking, the "D" is your place.
If you don't smoke, don't like overcrowded bars and
prefer to avoid fistfights, you'll want to go somewhere
else.

| Merenda | Bend, OR | |
Definitely the restaurant with the most "atmosphere"
in Bend, and the finest wine list in the city. Dishes are fairly
expensive but finely prepared. If you have a romantic date in
mind, I recommend this establishment.

| Mc Grath's Fish House | Bend, OR | |
A fine seafood restaurant with a solid if unexciting menu, although
the clam chowder is really quite excellent. The ambiance is pleasant,
if even if it doesn't quite have what Red Lobster offers,
it's fine dining.

| Grover's Pub & Pizza Co | Bend, OR | |
Grover's is a just-barely-better-than-average pizza-and-beer
joint. The pizza is about Domino's-level fare, and the selection
of beers is average at best. If you're looking for pizza,
you can do much better.
| John Dough's Pizza | Bend, OR | |
Pizza is excellent but also expensive, so keep that in mind. Great
to visit in the summer when their backyard volleyball court is
in operation.
| Wall Street Grill | Bend, OR | |
Fare is strictly "bleh." The menu is in constant fluctuation,
and the new dishes are never better than the old ones. The bar wedged
in the back is small and cramped.

| Sakura Restaurant | Pullman, WA | |
It's the best place for sushi in Pullman, WA. Unfortunately,
it's the only place for sushi in Pullman, WA. As sushi goes,
it's very average, and I've had much better elsewhere.
But unless you want to drive to Spokane, you're pretty much
out of luck. At least it's reasonably priced, although the
service leaves much to be desired.

| West Side Bakery & Cafe | Bend, OR | |
One of Bend's finest breakfast spots, and their lunches
aren't half-bad either. The Westside Bakery also offers
the freshest bread in town. Highly recommended.
| Roszaks Fish House | Bend, OR | |
As surf-n'-turf restaurants, Roszak's is one of the
better ones in down, although, lately, I've been disappointed
with the steaks. The seafood is quite good, though, and the catfish
is highly recommended. They offer several affordable specials
as well.
| Toomies Thai Cuisine | Bend, OR | |
The finest Thai restaurant in town. Also the only Thai restaurant,
but the food is still very, very good. Almost 100 dishes that you
can get from mild to atomic-spicy. One of my favorite lunch stops
in downtown Bend.

| Pilot Butte Drive In | Bend, OR | |
In the shadow of Pilot Butte (what a surprise, with that name),
the Pilot Butte Drive-In offers incredibly huge portions (like
the famous--or infamous--18 oz. burger) at great prices. The
only potential down side is that due to its popularity, seating
in this former A&W is at a premium.
| Shari's of Bend | Bend, OR | |
Shari's is what it is: a chain that offers the usual panoply
of breakfast dishes, sandwiches and dinner entrees. I do enjoy
the fact that I can get any of these at 3 a.m., and the food, while
a tad pricier than I'd like, is perfectly acceptable. At
that time of the morning, you can't do much better than Shari's.
| Eddie's Canton | Bend, OR | |
Eddie's Canton is a disappointing experience, from the
too-dark, too-old interior to the menu that is over-salted and
too heavy with MSG. You're better off going to Chan's
or Toomie's for a quality Asian meal.
| El Caporal Mexican Restaurant | Bend, OR | |
El Caporal is a typical but good American-style Mexican restaurant.
The prices are affordable, the service is amazingly fast, and
the portions are large. If you want something "different"
in Mexican fare, you won't find it here, but if you have a hankering
for chicken enchiladas with Spanish rice and refried beans,
this is the place.
| Beef & Brew | Bend, OR | |
If you're thinking steaks, this has been the place to go for
over 20 years in Bend. It's a little on the pricey but usually
worth it. Fine selection of microbrews on tap as well. An excellent
dining experience.
| Dandy's Drive-In | Bend, OR | |
A landmark in Bend for almost 35 years, and the last remaining
traditional "drive-in" restaurant. The burgers
are excellent, the milkshakes are highly recommended and where
else are you going to see waitresses on roller skates anymore?
| Hong Kong Restaurant | Bend, OR | |
By far the worst of Bend's Chinese restaurants. The food
is usually overcooked and heavy on the deep-frying, and salty
enough to attract brine flies. Go down the street to Chan's.
| Shilo Restaurant & Lounge | Bend, OR | |
The best recommendation I can provide is "average."
The staff is reasonably pleasant, but the menu is unexciting,
and so is the food. It's okay for lunch, but not that much better
than if you'd crossed the street to eat at Shari's.
