| Thai Place Restaurant | Salem, MA | |
Excellent Thai food, good appetizers, great duck dishes, very
friendly service.

| The Grapevine | Salem, MA | |
Excellent food, good presentation, good service. I have visited
them about three times in last two years - tried both lamb and seafood
dishes. Excellent and interesting.

| Dali Restaurant & Tapas Bar | Somerville, MA | |
Excellent tapas (I have tried mostly the tapas although they
also offer Spanish entrees). Sitting at the bar is a treat - looking
at the hams as in a Spanish deli. Both cold and hot tapas are very
good and range from chorizo(sausage) to "gambas' (shrimp).
Extremely friendly atmosphere - the owner greets customers.
Parking is difficult (if you cannot walk there, take a taxi)

| Publick House Historic Resort | Sturbridge, MA | |
This is our favorite stop when returning from NYC or Williamstown.
Absolutely excellent bread basket. I have been known to order
a soup, appetizer and a bread basket. Both seafood and meats (lamb
or beef) are very good. Never made it to dessert.

| Su$Chang's Restaurant | Peabody, MA | |
Probably our preferred Chinese restaurant. Try their specials
- salmon in sauce was superb, Neptune's basket is a treat - an edible
basket with seafood in fantastic sauce. The traditional dishes
are also great.

| Sylvan St Grille | Peabody, MA | |
Extremely varied menu, large portions, very good place if dining
with kids. Good value for the money. Any place that offers Bass
Ale and Guiness on tap is worth visiting.

| Toscanini's Ice Cream | Cambridge, MA | |
This is my preferred ice cream place. One benefit of working in
Cambridge is Toscaninis. The coffee is OK but the ice cream divine.
They will let you taste flavors. The mango tastes like the real
fruit. A must visit.

| Iruna Restaurant | Cambridge, MA | |
This restaurant has been there since my graduate student days
- a long time ago. While my other memories (the Wursthaus, the
Yard of Ale) have gone, Iruna is still there. The paella is good
- not quite what our paella club used to cook up but authentic.
Prices are reasonable. A good experience overall.

| S & S Deli Restaurant | Cambridge, MA | |
Another "old reliable". Very good sandwiches, a real deli, very
popular - sometimes a long wait. For a while we used them at work
as our caterers for small group lunches - the best sandwich, salad,
pastry combination.

| Panache Restaurant | Cambridge, MA | |
I beleve Panache is no longer there - replaced by Anago Bistro,
which moved and now occupied by another restaurant. The location
has always attracted restaurants of great reputation. It is
crowded and service can be spotty due to this. Panache was consistently
good but pricey.
| Peacock Restaurant | Cambridge, MA | |
The Peacock - an excellent place albeit hard to find- is no longer
there. Another excellent place Cafe Celador has replaced it.
| Izzy's Restaurant & Sub Shop | Cambridge, MA | |
This is one of the few Puerto Rican restaurants (it also offers
American fare) Authentic - try the goat fricasse if they have
it,
great rice and beans.
| Michela's Restaurant | Cambridge, MA | |
Michela's is no longer there. It was very good but pricey. Try
nearby Salamander - it excellent but expensive.
| Ithaki | Ipswich, MA | |
Varies from excellent (stick to the lamb dishes) to so-so. Service
can also be spotty.
| Chipper's River Cafe | Ipswich, MA | |
Very pleasant place, food is from good to very good, service is
pleasant. A very relaxing place.
| Nasturtiums | Newburyport, MA | |
Excellent food - among the dishes I remember is Beef Wellington,
a standard but difficult to make, which was excellent. Very friendly
service. Definitely worth a a visit.
| Angelica's Restaurant | Middleton, MA | |
Huge portions, good to average Italian fare. I probably went
to one too many sport banquets there. Still good value for the
money.
| Oyster House | Boston, MA | |
Great place to take visitors - the atmosphere is four star, the
food ranks from three to one star. The raw bar is excellent (oysters
after all!!), the rest is OK. Not memorable chowder. Worth a visit
for history sake.
| Doyle's Cafe | Jamaica Plain, MA | |
I have visited Doyle's mostly for the drinks, only tried bar food.
Yet, it is an experience - Boston political history is around
you and sometimes being made. Must visit.
| Zampano's | Lenox, MA | |
We stopped for lunch and I did not want to go in because I thought
it was another Italian restaurant. What a surprise!! Creative
soups, sandwiches, salads. Great experience.
