Very attentive staff even during the lunch rush. Can't find a dish
I don't like. Gotta try everything.

| Shogun Japanese Steakhouse | Scarborough, ME | |

I wanted to eat at the bar because I was hungry and didn't want to
watch the "show"; thought I could have my meal prepared
in the kitchen. Due to short staffing, I ended up eating at the Teppanyaki
table. The food was typical for this style of restaurant. Not Benihana
but the chef was friendly. Curiosly, there were several birthday celebrants
at surrounding tables.

Great atmoshpere. It was fun sitting at the counter. I think I'd
order something other than the fish and chips the next time I'm
in town. Very tasty fries though.

| Blue Ginger | Wellesley, MA | |
|
Big Fan of Chef Ming Tsai. Unfortunately, he was not in the restaurant
on my first visit to this highly acclaimed East-West Cuisine restaurant.
The Hawaiian waters caught tuna was overpowered by rice vinegar seasoning.
My waiter offered to correct it but I don't like wasting food. I
just ate more bread after each bite. The risotto was made with sushi
rice on the al dente side which offered a chalky crunch. I prefer arborio
rice for risottos. The scallops in my main entree were well prepared.
When at Blue ginger, why not try the refreshing ginger ale?. To end my
my meal, I had the chocolate cake which was close to decadent.

Classic Diner food and very good. Brought my kids and they loved it.
Great ambiance. A must if you are visiting the Hudson Valley.

If you enjoy Hyderabadi cuisine, this is the place. Great selection.
Attentive service. Delicious food. www.ranibistro.com and check out their menu. I'll have to go back
a few more times before I give them 5 stars.

| O'Sho Japanese Steak House | Poughkeepsie, NY | |

Nice ambiance typical of a teppanyaki style restaurant. This night
I opted not to eat at the "show table". I was hungry so I spent
the evening on the side of the restaurant with the sushi bar. I lucked
out since all sushi was half-price. I ordered the chirashi bowl (chef
selection of sashimi over sushi rice)accompanied by miso soup and
salad along with two orders of the hamachi (yellowtail) sashimi. Unfortunately,
the miso soup was warm. This is a pet peeve of mine, why do restaurants
serve warm soup when it is supposed to be hot? On a cold Fall evening,
hot soup is in order. My rating is average because of the service and
miso soup blemish. Otherwise, the quality of the sashimi was to be expected.

| Nico's At Pier 38 | Honolulu, HI | |
|
How can you go wrong with seafood when you're neighbor is the Hawaii
Fish Auction? Very reasonable prices, great specials and ample seating.
Parking is free too! Everything's take-out, so grab your food
and have lunch pier side and watch life around Honolulu Harbor. The
perfect place for former Hawaii resident's returning to Oahu
and Jones-ing for "local kine grindz".

| Bangkok Chef | Honolulu, HI | |
|
For the best Thai food on O'ahu, this is the place. Low key and minus
the glitz of Thai restaurants sporting white table clothes; you get
your money's worth. If you wanted to try Thai cooking yourself,
they have a market of select Thai ingredients and staples. I tried the
Panang Curry, pork, basil, chiles and potatoes, and Jasmine rice for
$5.25. Very fragrant and the heat was medium but wasn't overbearing.
Again, I didn't save room for dessert but they had homemade banana
bread. Parking is in the back; don't be diswayed by the lack of parking
in front. The front of the restaurant/market is opened by a garage door!

| Stoneforge Public House | Raynham, MA | |
|
Ended up having the House Salad and Surf and Turf; grilled 12 oz. sirloin
and seared scallops $22.99. The temperature I ordered was medium rare,
kitchen result = medium. It could've used more seasoning... The
2004 Seghesio Zinfadel was not properly stored but was enjoyed. At
least our server was hospitable.

| Rein's New York Style Deli and Restaurant | West Springfield, MA | |
|
House specialties noted on a menu are there for a reason; they are what
diners come to expect. Here at this deli, I tried the Tappan Zee. Generous
Roast beef, all white meat turkey and pastrami on a toasted sesame roll,
lettuce, tomato, red Bermuda onion and cole slaw. Of course, a deli
sandwich would not be complete with a pickle. It was very good. I took
the other half to-go and enjoyed it as I write this review. I only wish
that I had room for the Warm noodle pudding. I'll just visit their
second restuarant in Vernon, CT for that.

| Pho Nam | Honolulu, HI | |
|
I've been frequently dining at this restaurant for two dishes,
Pho Tai (thinly sliced beef tenderloin and rice noodles in a savory
broth) and Green Papaya Salad. A lot of restaurants serve pho, but they
are generous with the rice noodles, beef and garnish (fresh bean sprouts,
basil, jalapeno peppers and lemon). The green papaya salad is served
with shrimp and shrimp crackers. Pho is great on cold rainy day... One
of the better choices for pho in Honolulu.

| El Mariachi | Kaneohe, HI | |

Yes, this is the best Mexican restaurant in Hawaii. Found in Kaneohe,
it is off the beaten path but well worth it. Parking is tight so go early...

| Cho Dang | Honolulu, HI | |

Korean restaurants are very similar around Honolulu. Entrepreneurial
owners competing for customers where you can find a restaurant on every
block. Korean cuisine can compete in this market because the food is
flavorful and served-up fast. The great thing about these restaurants
are the side dishes served with your entrees. Here, you not only get
kim chee but six other types. You have to try the haemul pah jun (seafood
pancake). This version has a slightly crisp outer texture and ample
tidbits of shrimp, squid and octopus. The soy sauce for dipping has
a hint of sesame and chili pepper. The chef owner is found at this location.
However, there is the original location with the same name on 725 Kapiolani
Boulevard.

| Chino Latino | Minneapolis, MN | |
|
This restaurant fits into the trendy scene of the Uptown Area in Minneapolis.
"Food from the Hot Zones" is a great concept where you can
find a wide selection of foods from countries that you can dream of visiting.
Restaurants that try different cuisines falter since the authenticity
of the recipe is lost. The kitchen staff never disappoints. The interior
design is very cool and you'll even have fun in the washroom.

| Azul | Kapolei, HI | |

Fine dining restaurants are usually found around Honolulu, this one
is on the Westside of the island on the JW Marriot Resort Ko Olina. This
is a romantic location where you can stroll around one the lagoons and
catch a spectacular Hawaiian sunset. You can then treat yourself to
a well-prepared meal and fine seafood selections.

| Diamond Head Market & Grill | Honolulu, HI | |
|
If you missed Chef Kelvin Ro's Kahala Moon restaurant, look no
further. This upscale market & grill serves great salads and desserts.
Another place that's just outside Waikiki's crowds where
you can get excellet pacific rim cuisine. You can also find Chef Kelvin
at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific up the street.

| Auntie Pasto's | Honolulu, HI | |

Homestyle Cooking is how this restaurant is described. Although,
it has an Italian bent... One of the best places in Honolulu for sphagetti
and meatballs. For dessert, this Tiramisu is well done!

| Alan Wong's | Honolulu, HI | |
|
The awards keep coming for one of the founders of Hawaii Regional Cuisine.
Any "foodie" should make a reservation at this unlikely
address for a top tier fine dining restaurant. The food is so good, you
don't even need a view to attract repeat customers.
