| Buona Beef | Lombard, IL | |

I don't usually review chain type resturants but will make an exception
here. If you like good Italian beef or Italian Sausage, you can get it
here. Be sure to get it with their hot peppers.

| Frankie's Deli | Lombard, IL | |
|
This place is actually more of a grocery store type deli than a restaurant.
However, they do have a few places to eat inside and, in good weather,
some seating outside.
This is a REAL deli. While it is located in a non-descript shopping mall
environment, it reminds me of the old style deli markets - you know,
the ones that feature a HUGE selection of stuff you can't get at
a regular grocery store. This is that place! You want deli meat? They
have so many choices, it is likely they will have at least several that
you have never heard of before, or at least not eaten since you were a
kid.
I live about three hours away from this place. I just wish my small town
could support a deli such as this one.
Is it cheap? No. Is it health food? No. Is it good? No, its great!

| Greek Islands West | Lombard, IL | |
|
Not cheap but not all that expensive, this is a very nice place. Friendly,
nice atmosphere and very good food.
This is a relatively new location of an old classic restaurant in Greek
Town in Chicago.

| Roditys Restaurant | Chicago, IL | |
|
A classic restaurant in Greek Town. While the food is good and the waitstaff
very accomodating, part of what makes this restaurant pleasant is
that it has an atmosphere of people enjoying themselves. Once seated,
the atmosphere is contagious.

| B D's Mongolian Barbeque | Ann Arbor, MI | |
|
Based on the food alone, I would have added a star to my rating. I love
the choices you have in putting together a dish to be prepared for you.
BUT THE NOISE....at times can be almost overwhelming. In good weather,
I recommend sitting outside where you just have the noise of passing
vehicles.

| Italian Village | Carbondale, IL | |
|
I have eaten here only rarely in recent times. But, back in the 60s and
70s, this was the place to go to eat pizza and pasta in a fun atmosphere.
Its nice to see a "mom & pop" restaurant endure in the
face of so many chain restaurants. It is unlikely that any chain restaurant
could develop the kind of character you find at the IV.

| Tres Hombres Mexican Rstrnt | Carbondale, IL | |
|
I have to agree with all of the other reviewers. If you are in Carbondale
and want to eat Mexican food, this is the place. Better than the average
in all respects.

| Montana Mike's | Edinburgh, IN | |
|
Both my wife and I enjoyed lunch here on Memorial Day. The place is like
a roadhouse. The menu had a large variety to choose from. Our waitress
(I don't like the term waitperson) was friendly and efficient.
I especially liked their sweet iced tea.

| Old Bridge Family Restaurant | Taylorville, IL | |
|
My wife and I ate a late breakfast here last Saturday; our first visit
to this place. It looks like it has been here for a long time - this is not
a derogatory statement. It is not a fancy place at all, but nice and friendly.
My wife had their Gypsey Skillet and I had a Denver omelette. We were
both pleased. The food was good, plentiful and reasonably priced.
And like I said earlier, it is a friendly place.
It is kind of a typical small town cafe - casual, comfortable. I believe
the stay open from 6:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night.

| Dog N Suds | Charleston, IL | |
|
There are not a lot of restaurants like this one anymore. Eating here
is like stepping back into the 1960s. Drive up service. Good chili dogs
and smooth root beer. Yum.

| Roc's Black Front | Charleston, IL | |
|
One of the better places to eat in Charleston. It has the atmostphere
of a friendly bar and grille. The food is very good. My only complaint:
it gets noisy when it is crowded.

| Dutch Kitchen | Arcola, IL | |
|
Yes the place is rather old. It seems to do a pretty good business. I have
eaten there three times over the years. My opinion: it is good but not
great. If you plan to have dinner there, get there before 7:00 p.m. as
I believe they close somewhat early.

| Biaggi's Risorante Italiano | Champaign, IL | |
|
Yes the place seems to be popular but I really don't know why. While
the place is pleasant (except when it gets noisy), the food is average
at best. Perhaps I am not being fair by judging on the basis of one visit.
I have sent food back only three times in my life (I am nearing 60 years
of age) but this place has the honor of being one of them.

| Alexander's Steakhouse | Champaign, IL | |
|
There is only one thing that needs to be said about this place: truly
great steak! Without a doubt, one of the five best steaks I have eaten
in my life.

||
| Dos Raelos Mexican Restaurant | Champaign, IL | |
|
This place does a brisk business, and for good reason: they serve up
good Mexican food. Although I eat Mexican food quite often, I am not
an authority on such fare. But in my experience, their food is above
average, and by that, I mean GOOD.

||
| Manzella's Italian Patio | Champaign, IL | |
|
My wife and I have eaten here a few times over the years. We did not have
any problems with the service, which is not to say that it is quick. We
did wait a while on our meal but not an inordinate amount of time. The
food has always been very good. While we don't get to Champaign
for lunch or dinner very often, this place is one that we keep on our list.

||
| Taffies Restaurant | Champaign, IL | |
|
I don't understand it. This place is still in business. The one
time I ate there was enough to make me not want to return. Sometimes I
think that I just visited them on a bad day. But then there are the other
reviews below which....how many "bad days" have they had?
|
||
| Guadalajara | Danville, KY | |
|
My experience is somewhere in between the previous reviewers'
opinions. I agree that the service was fine. I will say that the food
was good but certainly not "write home" good. The tamale
portion of my combination plate was actually better than average in
my experience.
|
||
| Breitie's Again | Greenville, IL | |
|
My rating of three stars (Good) is meant to counteract the previous
reviewer a little bit. It seems that the term "average"
no longer means what it once did. It now indicates a disappointment.
I found the food to be good; certainly not great but enjoyable. Please
keep in mind that this place is not a fine dining establishment. It feature
standard 1950's diner fare and is decorated in that same vein.
The atmosphere is also not fancy. I found the service to be fine.

| Don Pablos | Newport, KY | |
|
My wife and I had a late lunch here last Sunday. My wife really liked her
Carnitas. My "real burrito" was ok. The service was fine.
Nice location.
We probably won't come back to this place; not because it is bad
but there are any number of Mexican restaurants that are better.
