| Doc Chey's Noodle House | Atlanta, GA | |

Very inexpensive for the portions you get. Relaxed, casual setting.
(parking is sometimes tough) Never really too crowded. Great
place to eat on a limited budget.

| Manuel's Tavern | Atlanta, GA | |
|
Manuals is the epitome of a local's bar. Good bar food, cold beer,
sports on TV, great old bar area, lots of different rooms to choose
from. Friendly staff. Great place to hang out for a few hours with
friends and watch the Braves play. Meatloaf is good, as are the
wings.

| Front Page News | Atlanta, GA | |
|
Excellent patio area. Best time to go is for the Sunday brunch
They have a live band and a do-it-yourself bloody mary bar with
probably fifty different hot sauces to choose from. Beware the
pigeons. There's one scrawny one who tried to attack us last time
we went. Good food, very friendly staff.

| Dusty's Barbecue | Atlanta, GA | |
|
Just okay. Much better to be found without having to leave the
city. They do carry Cheerwine, which you don't see many places.
The drive thru is convenient, but the food is average at best.

| Zocalo | Atlanta, GA | |
|
A refreshing break from formulaic Mexican restaurants (you
won't find the Speedy Gonzalez on their menu) Close to Piedmont
Park, Zocalo has delicious, fresh menu items, tasty drinks,
friendly staff and for what you get, very reasonable prices.

| Bone's steak and seafood | Atlanta, GA | |
|
Definitely a high-class establishment, but sometimes has trouble
living up to it's legendary reputation. While they are famous
for their steaks, I tend to enjoy the side dishes more than the
meat. My recommendation is to go about 30 minutes before your
reservation and hang out at the bar - the bar staff is top shelf,
know their stuff, and treat you very well. Be prepared to bring
home a sizable doggie bag.

||
| Cheescake Factory | Atlanta, GA | |
|
Extensive menu - chances are whatever you're in the mood for,
they'll have. Fun to hang out upstairs, but wherever you are,
the people watching is a not-to-be-missed event. They have a
whole page of cheesecakes (maybe 30?) so save room! The wait is
sometimes over an hour, so go early, or wait at the upstairs bar
area. Fun, vibrant environment.

| Buckhead Diner | Atlanta, GA | |
|
Mmmm gimme them blue cheese potato chips evertime I go and I'll
de a happy man! Fun, bright trendy place to enjoy delicious food.
Waitstaff is top notch. Great place to take a date - or your date's
parents. All ages feel comfortable.

| Fat Matt's Rib Shack | Atlanta, GA | |
|
Their rack of ribs is always more than I can eat - and I can eat a lot
of ribs! My idea of a perfect night is hanging out with my fiancee,
some close friends, in the outside area, slowly eating ribs and
their yummy rum baked beans and fresh slaw, drinking beer, while
the band plays inside. The outside area is small, but key if you
want to hear the music and still hear what your party is saying.
I don't mind the hot Atlanta summers if I can hang out there. If
you haven't been - step away from your computer and go there now.

| Houstons Restaurants Inc | Atlanta, GA | |
|
I'm not a vegetarian, but when I go to Houston's it's hard not to
order their veggie burger. It is by far the best veggie burger
I've ever had - the sauce on it combined with the smoky-grilled
taste - MMM! I also like their little stringy fries. If you want
a meaty burger, the hickory burger is excellent.
Their restaurants are always clean, nicely decorated. There
is usually a wait, but saying goodbye to the barstaff when you
have to move to your table is hard to do. I used to work around the
corner from the one on Powers Ferry Rd, and would visit at least
once a week for lunch. Great place to go.

| Surin Of Thailand | Atlanta, GA | |
|
Surin is epitomizes the neighborhood it is located in, the Virginia
Highlands. It is trendy, casual, busy. A great people watching
place. The food is towards the top level for Thai in the city. Not
the best in town, but very close. If you tie in the location, crowd,
menu and price, overall I'd say it is an excellent addition to
a short list of places to go to regularly. Go with a group and order
four or five appetizers. My favorite entree is the Pad Prik. Also
check out Harry & Son's, the next block over. Owned by the same
guy, but different menu (thai, sushi, Italian!)

| Pittypat's Porch | Atlanta, GA | |
|
I guess if you're coming from out of town, Pittypat's Porch would
be a fun place to enjoy Southern Charm and ambiance. But for me
it is like going to an "Old South" exhibit at Epcot. The surroundings
may be fun, but the food is average to boring. From what I've read,
food during the Plantation era wasn't all that hot anyway, so
maybe it is truly authentic. If I want fun, southern home cookin',
I go to Mary Mac's Tea Room.
|
||
| Murphy's | Atlanta, GA | |
|
Brunch is great. The Virginia Highland area is so fun, and this
place is at the heart of it. Even if you're planning on dining somewhere
else, stop by there afterwards and grab one of their amazing desserts.
Lunch/Dinner shouldn't be passed up for brunch because they
are excellent as well. Charming interior.

| Taco Mac | Atlanta, GA | |
|
I'm borderline on giving Taco Mac a 4 Star rating, mainly because
of their extensive beer selection. It is staggering. They had
hundreds of beers BEFORE the Microbrew revolution. In my wilder
days, my buddies and I would go in and drink a country or two, i.e.
every beer that a particular country offers. Yes, if you like
wings, this is your place. If you want to kick back, watch the game,
be waited on but not smothered, drink beer you've never heard
of before, not many choices better then here.

| Dante's Down The Hatch | Atlanta, GA | |
|
A really fun place to go - can be romantic, playful, whatever.
The prices are high, the portions LOOK small, but since you spend
so much time cooking each bite you take, you do get full. You'll
probably have to send your clothes to the cleaners to get the oil
smell out, but it's a small price to pay. Can't really see going
too often, but once every year or two is fun. Our department at
work had a dinner there one year, and we had a blast. Atmosphere
is the best. (although a little oily - sorry!) The food is good,
but not stellar. Don't know how it could really stand out, considering
it is the act of cooking the food that makes the place unique. One
friend commented before going, "You mean I pay this much and I
have to cook my own food?"
Afterwards, he admitted it was worth it.

| Thai Chilli | Atlanta, GA | |
|
I agree that this place is the best. Surin and Pad Thai are close
seconds, and may have better atmosphere, but for pure food quality,
this place is the place. If you ask for spicy - tread carefully.
Not really in the radar of the tourist crowds, and I'm surprised
that more of the locals I talk to don't know about it. I've never
had a problem walking in and getting a table, and the prices are
great.

||
| Tortillas | Atlanta, GA | |
|
Get it to go, or get it to stay, either way, I've been going there
as long as I've lived in Atlanta (13 years). Big portions at low
costs. Great to take to the park, just bring extra napkins. I like
the green sauce better than the red. The burritos are what sold
me on it years ago, but now I usually get the quesadillas with broccoli.
I think the staff is composed of struggling musicians and artists,
but that may not hold true anymore. Upstairs is not the place to
sit - go downstairs and people watch. They even serve Orangina!
|
||
| Camille's Italian Restaurants | Atlanta, GA | |
|
When I told a friend I was going there for the first time, they recommended
the Rice Balls. That didn't sound too great, but we ordered some
for the table. Very astute recommendation. Try them out when
you go. If you can sit outside, you'll have a much better time than
inside. Inside is a little bright, whereas outside is cozier.
The pizza is fresh and tasty - the way pizza should be. A little
pricey, but well worht it. Pasta portions are large. You can't
go wrong with any of their nightly specials. There is usually
a wait, so go outside and watch people walk down N. Highland.
|
||
| EatZi's | Atlanta, GA | |
|
EatZi's is a gourmet specialty market that has pre-packaged
entrees, sides, desserts, etc. as well as a pasta chef and a grill
to cook up fresh selections for you. Very nice produce, deli,
bakery. Epitomizes the Buckhead crowd. Great place to stop after
work or before a dinner party. Sandwiches are excellent. Veggies
in the grill area should also be tried. Quite the scene.
|
||
| Brasserie Le Coze | Atlanta, GA | |
|
There grilled lamb sandwich is divine. Pricey, crowded, in a
mall - still, it is a really nice place to go. Their specials are
usually first rate. Lenox is at the upper end of malls, and this
place shouldn't even be considered a "mall restaurant". Read
the menu, walk around the mall, and then go.You won't be disappointed.
