E R Rogers Restaurant Steilacoom, WA
E.R. Rogers is in a beautifully restored mansion overlooking Puget Sound. The large bay windows provide stunning views to match the food. Several friends and I arrived (sans reservations) and though busy the hostess found us a suitable table (their were 8 of us) and was quite personable. The food was extraordinary! I had a special prime rib with a marsala sauce and gorgonzola cheese that was delicious and perfectly done. Others had various seafood dishes that were equally delicious. The service was impeccable as were the table settings. Despite the previous reviewer's comments I would recommend this to anyone looking for fine dining in the area.
The Hickory Hog Leavenworth, KS
Some of the very best smoked ribs and pulled pork you can get in this area or anywhere. It is a small, almost stark little place, but what it lacks in setting it more than makes up for in great food. They serve, smoked, ribs, beef, Memphis style pork, smoked chicken and so forth. Their hot BBQ sauce is out of this world. I stop there at least once a weeek.
Sh'nanigans Bonner Springs, KS
Sh'nanigans is a nice local grill which has recently changed its venue. They had been a burger and steak grill but have changed to a mexican fare. They have some great appetisers especially the stuffed Avocado. Chips and salsa are served with dinners and both the mild and hot are excellant.I especialy enjoyed the mild due to its bold garlic flavor. Entrees are numerous and adequate but the enchiladas are especially good. The Taco mixture tends to suffer from inattentive cooks who overlook or leave out all together key ingriedients so beware. In short a great place for a reasonable meal served by pleasant and attentive folks!
High Noon Saloon Leavenworth, KS
The High Noon has long been a staple in the Leavenworth area. This is a strong steakhouse with very good BBQ and steaks. The management is working hard to consistently provide first rate service and food in an enjoyable environment. The fare is varied and daily specials are offered. The star however is the microbrewery. The brewery was started by one of the current owners (who keeps his hand in the mix so to speak) and they deliver first class beers. They also won a Gold Medal at a recent Great American Brew Fest (GABF) for their Rasphberry Honey Wheat. A light and refreshing wheat...it is one of many stong standouts in their repetoire. Try the Wagon Trail Pale or most certainly the Stampede Stout. Regardless.... you will enjoy the service the food and especially the beer!
