Jack's Bar-B-Que Nashville, TN
I've eaten at Jack's everytime I've gone through Nashville. Simply put, it's great. Always got the pulled pork shoulder until last week when I tried the 3-meat plate. Pulled pork shoulder, dry rubbed pork ribs and beef brisket. The ribs were supurb and the brisket topped the pulled pork. Several sauces, I like the Tenn. spicey. Tons of sides to choose from. My favorites are greens and mashed sweet potatoes along with corn bread and lots of sweet tea. If you're headed North this will be the last good sweet tea you'll get until your next trip South.
Smokey's Real Pit Bar-B-Que Pensacola, FL
If you've eaten at a Sonny's BBQ you've eaten at Smokey's. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? This is food but not good BBQ.
El Dorado Washington Court House, OH
One of 3 such restaurants owned by the same people. I've eaten in 2 of them and they're both good. About the same menu that exist in most of the Mexican restaurants that are popping up all over Amereica. Everything I've tried has been well worth the money. I especially like the enchiladas with green sauce.
City Barbeque Columbus, OH
This isn't great BBQ. The meat didn't have enough natural flavor. I had to add too much sauce to get a taste. However, if you don't want to drive to North Carolina for a sandwich, this will do.
Columbus Fish Market Columbus, OH
Even on the coast the seafood just doesn't get any better. Take your choice, it's all good. I especially enjoy the blackened tuna.
La Chatelaine French Bakery Columbus, OH
The only thing I've ever gotten here is their breads. They are wonderful and worth going out of the way to take a few loaves home.
Ruddy Duck Grill & Deli Harkers Island, NC
Eaten lunch there twice. Good eats both times. Menu is pizza and a nice variety of sandwiches. Soft drinks and cold beer are the main beverages. Shoot a game of pool while you're waiting.
Captain's Choice Restaurant Harkers Island, NC
Eaten lunch several times. Great lunch specials featuring fresh, local sea food. Also tried their Friday evening buffet. Don't care much for buffets but theirs is the exception.
Lexington Barbecue Lexington, NC
Lexington style BBQ is over rated. If you can stand the wait hold on for Wilbur's whole hog at Goldsboro. I drove way out of my way just to try this joints BBQ and was sorely disappointed. I learned to love BBQ in Eastern NC and this mid-state stuff is middle of the road at best. Go east young man, go east!
Capt Bill's Waterfront Rstrnt Morehead City, NC
Do yourself a favor and walk several doors to the east and wait in line at the Sanitary Fish Market. You won't be disappointed!
Watermark Restaurant Atlantic Beach, NC
Small and upscale. I had a steak and it was wonderful. Quality of food and service is what you'd expect at these prices. Highly recommend.
Clawson's 1905 Restaurant Beaufort, NC
Eaten at Clawson's many times. Great sandwiches, salads, calamari, fried shrimp and a specialty is the stuffed or loaded baked potato. Pretty good selection of brews. Haven't had a bad bite yet.
Casa Fiesta Grove City, OH
Had lunch there and found the food to be very good. I had the enchilada plate and the only thing that could have made them better would have been the use of stringed beef instead of ground beef.
El-Coyote Tex-Mex Cafe Cincinnati, OH
I lived in California and learned to love Mexican. Their's is simply the best I've ever eaten east of the Mississippi. Nuff said!
Berwick Manor Restaurant Columbus, OH
Had the buffet one evening and it was great. Wonderful selection of breads.
Cap City Diner Columbus, OH
Had the gruper sandwich along with an appetizer of calamari. Fish was very good and the calamari was near the best I've ever had.
Tommy's Pizza & subs Columbus, OH
Tommy's is an OSU institution. Place is always crowded and the reason is excellent pizza and sandwiches. Nothing fancy, just good eats!
W G Grinders Columbus, OH
As close to a New England grinder (sub) as you'll find in Central Ohio. Try the hot pastrami.
Lizard's Thicket Columbia, SC
Great variety of entrees and side dishes. I've eaten both breakfast and dinner in several Thickets. Quality has been consistant. Always a good place to grab a bite.
Maurices Bbq Columbia, SC
Maurice's Piggy Park is always good. The onion rings are excellent. They use hams to make their BBQ. Good place to eat but the politics of the owner should remain his secret. Maurice hasn't figured out the Civil War is over and his granddaddy lost!
