| Bennigan's | Metairie, LA | |
|
The service is slow, the maqnagement pathetic, and the food is
just slightly better than average... The only standout was the
grilled shrimp, which were very good, but hardly worth the wait
(about 45 minutes after 10 PM just to be seated). This restaurant
suffers from poor management. Tables are not cleaned until 15
minutes after the patron leaves. At one point, we had five unoccupied
tables in our area for about ten minutes, while customers waited
in the foyer for the better part of an hour. There is little excuse
for this sort of service in such a prime location. I suggest you
dine early... elsewhere...

| Bravo! Italian Kitchen | Metairie, LA | |
|
This is some of the finest Italian cuisine to be found in Metairie
at any price. I have eaten there on a number of occasions, and have
only been slightly disappointed once. That problem stemmed
from the waitstaff being slightly overworked by the large crowd.
Our waiter seemed a bit confused... and frustrated. Fortunately,
this is not the norm. Excellent cuisine... Be sure to try the cheesecake
for desert... It really does establish a benchmark...

| Caretta's | Metairie, LA | |
|
Although I have eaten at Caretta's in Hammond and considered
it very good, this restaurant is a definite improvement. It is,
by no means, the typical mundane Mexican restaurant fare, ovrwrought
with refried beans and dried rice. The wait staff is both prompt
and attentive, and the food excellent. I would highly recommend
the grilled steak and shrimp kabobs. The flavor is excellent
and the portions are considerable. Bring a hearty appetite and
enjoy...

| Sake Cafe | Metairie, LA | |
|
The food is superb, and the service is excellent. Although there
are other good sushi restaurants in the New Orleans area, this
is undoubtedly the best. For the most bang for your buck, catch
their lunch specials. You will not be disappointed.

| P.F. Chang's China Bistro | Metairie, LA | |
|
Wow! Just when I had lost all interest in Chinese cuisine, along
comes Chang's. Buffets... Go Away! This should be a wake
up call for those "cookie cutter buffet" Chinese
restaurants. This IS NOT like the rest... It is simply the BEST.
We were properly served, well fed, never bored, and for a reasonable
price. You can ask for no more.

| Beulah's | Destrehan, LA | |
|
Hidden at the end of a strip mall behind McDonalds is this outstanding
little restaurant. The food is impeccably seasoned and the service
is friendly, yet excellent. The Prosciutto-Wrapped Shrimp
is a real treat, as is the Pan Sautéed Pork Chop (12 ounces!). Beef
lovers will delight with the Tournedos Lisboa (a uniquely finished
8 ounce filet). Just to wet your appetite, stop by Tuesday through
Friday for one of the best daily lunch specials around. Wednesday's
pork roast is seasoned to perfection as is the rolled steak on
Thursday, both are served with a fresh salad and hot bread, and
the luncheon specials are under $6. Try it for lunch and you'll
undoubtedly return for dinner. Although, with the portions
served, you may need to wait a day!

| Los Gallos | Coushatta, LA | |
|
This is truly one of the best Mexican restaurants to which I have
ever been. It is not the fanciest, but the food and service are
excellent.

| Jimmy's Place | Convent, LA | |
|
This is a great place for lunch when in the Convent area with most
sandwiches and luncheon specials under $5. The food is extremely
good and the employees are great. For a light, but filling, lunch,
try a super chef salad. You will not be disappointed.

| Nelson Seafood | Destrehan, LA | |
|
This is the type of restaurant which has molded the New Orleans
culinary image into what it is today. It is one of the few "seafood"
restaurants to offer oysters on the half-shell, boiled seafood
(depending on the season), and fried softshell crab in addition
to the normal yawn of fried entrees (shrimp, oysters, and catfish).
The seafood is fresh and seasoned "just right". The boiled crawfish
are large and tasty, rather than "hot and salty" and the service
is excellent. Fridays appear quite busy, but the family (all
of whom work in the restaurant) rush about efficiently to keep
things moving. Best of all, customers feel as if they're "dining
with family", the New Orleans way!

| Olive Garden | Kenner, LA | |
|
Very good food at a very good price. As far as family dining is concerned,
this is probably one of the better national chain restaurants
around. The recipes are consistant and the quality above average.
Personnel training is well planned. This is an overall pleasant
experience.

| Chevys Fresh Mex | Kenner, LA | |
|
Extremely good food at a reasonable price. Do come with a healthy
appetite as this is one place that will not leave you hungry. The
service is excellent and the drinks are outstanding. The food
here is quite an improvement over the typical Mexican restaurant
fare.

| Trey Wah Restaurant | Destrehan, LA | |
|
Good food and drink, and good atmosphere. The waitstaff is always
pleasant in this quaint, quiet little restaurant. A good place
to just kick back and enjoy the food.

| Crazy Johnnie's | Metairie, LA | |
|
Good food...cheap. If you're a true steak eater, this is not the
place. Everything is okay and cheap.

| Drago's LakeSide SeaFood | Metairie, LA | |
|
This is a "must stop" for oyster lovers. The lobsters are outstanding,
but for true oyster lovers, this is pure heaven. Try them raw as
an appetizer, then keep the grilled oysters coming...Awesome!

| Antoine's Restaurant | New Orleans, LA | |
|
Without a doubt, this is the premier New Orleans restaurant.
Excellent service with food unmatched by any other restaurant
in the world. The type of Creole Cuisine for which New Orleans
is renowned.
|
||
| Come Back Inn | La Place, LA | |
|
Excellent for lunch, but not too fancy for supper. Great po-boys,
muffelatta's (especially seafood) and easy on the wallet.
|
||
| Ruth's Chris Steak House | New Orleans, LA | |
|
Excellent service and only the finest steaks...but you do pay
for what you get here. Not a weekly family stop or a means to an end
destination...This is the end destination! Take the time to
savor the meal.

| Harbor Seafood & Oyster Bar | Kenner, LA | |
|
If you are a true South Louisiana seafood lover, this must one
of your favorite restaurants in the New Orleans area. Without
any hesitation, I consider this place the finest in boiled seafood
in New Orleans. The place is small, and the waitis long, but bring
a healthy appetite and you will not be sorry.

| Harbor Seafood & Oyster Bar | Kenner, LA | |
|
If you are a true South Louisiana seafood lover, especially of
boiled seafood, this is one restaurant in the New Orleans area
you must try. The place is small, and the wait is long, but bring
a healthy appetite and you will not be disappointed.

| Anselmo's Restaurant | Metairie, LA | |
|
Nice lunch selection, but restaurant is superb at night. Pasta
dishes are more than ample for even the heartiest appetite. Oyster
lovers must try the Italian baked oysters, as the are superb.
I would suggest starting with the crab and eggplant appetizer
and the Salad Alyse. This salad is truly a unique taste treat.
The wine list is excellent while the wait staff is efficient without
being stuffy. All combine to create an extremely pleasant dining
experience.
