Cobblestone Grill Zionsville, IN
Attractive, large restaurant with outdoor dining on the quaint old Main St in Zionsville. We enjoyed Sunday brunch here outdoors between two brick-walled buildings and plan to return to for lunch or dinner.
Abuelo's Carmel, IN
The most beautiful Mexican restaurant in the Indy area with a main room adored with colorful wall pictures and mural. A large bar area is to the right of the entrance. Huge number of specialty drinks are available to wash down as good of Mexican food that I've tasted in Indiana. The menu features"Platter and Combinations" from $9.95 to $13.95; "House Specialities" from $11.95 to $17.95" "Enchiladas" for $8.95 ; "Fajitas" for $8.95 to $13.95. Appetizers, dips and salads are also available. Lunch specials(11am to 3 pm) and Senior meals range from $6.99 to $8.99. Service was exceptional and this Mexican restaurant is now our #1 favorite///
Ted's Montana Grill Carmel, IN
Another fine addition to the trendy Clay Terrace Shopping Center in Carmel. Bison is Ted's(Turner) specialty and you will pay an extra $5-6 per entree to get it. We opted for the traditional Prime Rib and Kansas City Strip wihich is served with a choice of potatoes and vegetables. Salad is extra at $2.49. Their are loads of booths for privacy in addition to the main open dining area. Waits of 1 hr can be common on Friday and Sat. nights. Ted's has an extensive list of burgers(19) and chicken(16)sandwiches for dinner or lunch. NO RESERVATIONs are accepted. Next time I will get bold and order the Bison Meatloaf for $9.69 which includes garlic mashed potatoes and "Aunt Fannies" squash casserole.(sounds yummy !!)
Some Guys Pizza Pasta Grill Carmel, IN
The walls and ceiling are black and pictures on the wall are of a 4th grade artistic talent. However the food is very good as evidenced by the salad and pizza combo for lunch at $6.95. I could not eat all of it! A few salads and sandwiches are also served. Evening pasta entrees include salad and choices of 5 different noodles. Appetizers(6) along with Salads (5) can be selected. A small selection of Children's items can be purchased for $3.75 to $4.35. Sandwiches, casseroles and a nice selection of desserts are available. Many folks order take-outs ahead of time.
Nick's Chili Parlor Inc Indianapolis, IN
I had the daily special..Coney dog, chili, and a drink for $5.95. Good, but not great. They have foot long dogs, mighty dogs, and chili dogs plus burgers, breaded pork loin and chicken sandwiches. Fries, potato salad, clow slaw, and onion rings can also be purchased along with tamales. Pies and carrot cake for dessert. A very popular inexpensive eating establishment with the Indy West Side folks.
Oceanaire Seafood Room Indianapolis, IN
Located at the former site of the men's department of L.S.Ayres, the transformation to this upscale restuarant is fabulous. Giant columns span two floors and Brazilian cherry wood adds warmth to the dining room. Be warned, portions are huge and many can serve 2 diners. Even the salad(8 choices) can be shared. I had a delicious "mahi mahi specialty" while my wife's Fisherman's Platter" was a disappointment(too little fish and too many fries). My mixed drink(Manhatten) was great but pricey at $9.50. I had a baked alaska for dessert. It was reasonably priced at $5.95 but be sure to ask the waiter the flavor of the ice cream. I was expecting vanilla, but it was mint. I will be smarter about my choices next time..A spectacular restaurant!!
Kona Grill Carmel, IN
Many booths adore this new dining facility in the trendy new Clay Terrace. Walls and ceiling are black and the ceiling lights are shells in cloth. Not a lot of choices on the menu with sub-sections of: Seafood Specialties(4) Meat Specialities(7), Noodles(4) and Island Pizzas(6). Salads(6) are extra and the house salad was quite different and very tasty. Several appetizers can begin your meal and are priced from $4.95 to 8.50. We both ordered the pork tenderloin and it was tender enough to cut with a fork. Kona is also open for lunch when sandwiches can be ordered. I will definitely go back for dinner and lunch.
Red Star Tavern Carmel, IN
The interior will surprise because the exterior is rather dull. We tried it for lunch and found the interior to be quite lovely with high ceilings, stone and wood panelings. My wife loved the "pulled pork sandwich served with a choice of housemade chips or cole slaw for $7.95. I had a BBQ bacon burger which was large and very good. Evening specialties include Jambalaya, BBQ Ribs, Rigatoni, and Fish of the Day among many other selections. "Small plates or appetizers are numerous(14) and sounded great. We are definitely going back for another lunch and dinner !!
Einstein Bros. Indianapolis, IN
Einstein Bros. are located in Fishers, Carmel, Greenwood and Indianapolis(7). They are not just bagels and cookies. Lunch is served with "classic" and "culinary" sandwiches as well as salads and soups. Breakfast sandwiches are available along with their famous bagels(20 varieties and numerous toppings). "Fewer carbs along with "lower fat" selections are available for the diet conscious folks.
Grindstone Charley's Noblesville, IN
Sorry, folks, this restuarant has closed to make room for a Walgreen Drug Store...2004
Christopher's Westfield, IN
Christopher's has moved to Tipton, IN. A new owner has taken over and I will review just as soon as I can get there....2-21-05
Mitchell's Fish Market Carmel, IN
Located in the new and upscale Clay Terrace Shopping Center this new seafood restaurant is not to be missed. My wife and I tried it for lunch last week. If you do not have reservations you are seated in the bar area. But, no problem as it is designed for dining as well as drinking. We both had the "Shang Hai Sampler" which consisted of fresh Atlantic salmon, scallops, shrimp, spinach, rice and cucumber wasabi slaw served with hot french bread. It was delicious and priced at $12.95. At least a dozen fish specialties are available along with about 15 seafood classics, 6 salads and 7 sandwiches. Dinner selections are about the same with larger portions. A raw bar makes available Oyster sampler, shrimp and crabmeat.
Scholar's Gourmet Cafe & Wine Bar Indianapolis, IN
The owners of the original Scholar's Inn In Bloomington, IN, reportedly invested 4 million dollars in this restaurant. God knows where all the money went as this eclectic contempory atmosphere could use some warmth. My wife and I went to their Sunday brunch and you order from an extensive menu(No buffet). Must have been over 30 selections plus side dishes and coffee specialities for $5.00, Champagne Cocktails for $3.50(half-price on Sundays). I had the eggs benedict for 9.00. You get the choice of prosciutto, bacon, sausage, salmon, or spinach. It was very tasty and beautifully presented. My Wife ordered pecan pancakes(4). They were huge and really quite flavorful. We also tried the Banana Foster Champagne Cocktail and would pass on it the next time. We will go back for another brunch and either lunch or dinner and I will give it another review.
Il Villaggio Restaurante Zionsville, IN
This restaurant has replaced the old Adam's Rib in Zionsville. Two rooms will accommodate large crowds and a brunch is served on Sunday. Nine pasta dishes and eleven entrees are featured on the menu with five salads and even four italian meal choices for kids. The entrees are served with vegetable and potato of the day. Side salad is extra for $2.95. We had the veal piccata and veal saltimbocca.(very good). An "early bird" special is available from 5:30 to 6:00 pm Monday to Thursday for $9.95 that includes lasagna or pasta marinara with a side salad. Dinner hours are 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm and 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm on Friday and Sat. Sunday brunch hours are 10:00 am to 2:00 pm for a bargain with breakfast itemsn, salads, chicken, pasta , and fish.
Story Inn Nashville, IN
We made a second visit to the Story Inn last week and I was somewhat disappointed overall. The salad was small and only included lettuce. The rolls were rather tasteless and small. My wife had a New York strip steak and I had shrimp with pasta..both quite good. My grand-daughter had a very tasty cheesburger. Service was very slow. We spent almost $100.00 with no alcoholic beverages and some ice cream which was an outrageous $6.95. Doubt if we will return for dinner...maybe lunch..Dave Parrish
Shula's Steak House Indianapolis, IN
We went back to Shula's for a party with 12 people. The waiter prepared a delicious appetizer sampling for all of us. However, I felt the steaks and salads did not measure up to Ruth Chris's or Sullivans. And, the prices are just about the highest in town for a steakhouse. Service was only mediocre. .....Dave Parrish
The Siding Restaurant Peru, IN
A unique restaurant in an authentic railroad car. It also has a traditional room added and a daily buffet that includes a salad bar. Lots of fun for kids and they have six meals just for kids. They feature 8 appetizers, chicken cooked half a dozen ways, several types of beef, pasta and seafood entrees. Sandwiches are available as is a Chimichanga all at reasonable prices. Open 11-2pm Tues-Fri, 4:30 -9 Tues - Sat and A Sunday buffet brunch from 11 am to 2pm
Greek's Pizzeria Fishers, IN
Greeks' has been established in the food business since 1922 making homemade dough and unique pizza's. I tried the "Lott'sa Meat Pizza and found it to be truly delicious and very filling. They have 10 different pizza's and a choice of 21 different toppings. Pasta dishes(7) served with fresh baked garlic bread are available along with 11 different sandwiches at $5.85 each. Bread sticks, salads, and baked cinnamon twists are also on the menu. Really worth a visit !
Handel's Fishers, IN
Not a restaurant, but worth a stop after eating at a local restuarant(Greek's Pizzeria is a few feet away). Handel's has been making delicious ice cream for over 50 years. Rich and creamy they have over 70 flavors along with lowfat yogart, sherbets, and ices. It is open all year and you can check it out on their website: handelsicecream.com...They also have ice cream pies and cakes, milkshakes, smoothies, and soft drinks. This is ice cream the way it should be made !!
Jasmine Thai Restaurant Indianapolis, IN
Another restuarant added to the great variety of eating establishments along 96th Street to Hazel Dell Road. This is clean, simple looking restaurant serving delicious hot Thai food. They feature 11 appetizers priced from $4.95 to 10.95(Jasmine platter), 9 Salads, 5 Soups, 6 different Noodle entrees, 7 Seafood entrees, and 6 Thai Curries. A separate menu page features their traditional "Jasmine Entrees"(11) such as "Pad Prik Khing"(Spicy pork or chicken with green beans and lemon grass in a hot pepper sauce). BE WARNED !! Thai entrees are HOT, but tastier than Chinese food...
