| Deja Vu | Montclair, NJ | |
|
Literally the best meal I've ever had in my life. You are squeezed
in like sardines and it can be a little loud, but the food is exquisitly
prepared. The ginger creme brulee was my favorite dessert, and
I also recommend the lobster dish. Don't even try to get in without
reservations on the weekend.

| Aujord'hui Restaurant | Boston, MA | |
|
Definitely an expensive night out, but this restaurant is worth
it. Fine dining at its best. The atmosphere and staff, however,
are not stuffy or condescending if you're no blue blood. Go for
the chocolate souffle!

| Bostonian Hotel$Seasons Restaurant | Boston, MA | |
|
Pretentious, stuffy and uncomfortable. The waiter literally
turned my plate about 1/2 inch as if the food looked crooked or
something. Quality of food isn't even all that great, especially
considering the price. Too much attention to the formalities,
not enough to important things like taste and comfort.

| Durgin-Park | Boston, MA | |
|
Food's great. The atmosphere is comfortable and casual. A must-see
restaurant for rookies and veterans of Boston cuisine. Unfortunately,
the trademark "rude waitresses" are a thing of the past; it gave
the place unique character. It's still one of the best places
to go in the city for high quanity, good quality seafood.

| No Name Restaurant | Boston, MA | |
|
Another must-see Boston restaurant, especially if you love
seafood and lots of it. The tourists have caught on to this spot
over the years, so it does tend to be crowded. Get there early on
the weekends; you will love it!

| Legal Sea Foods, Inc | Boston, MA | |
|
Used to be so much better, but it's still a really good meal. A little
too franchise-ish, cookie cutter mold for me. The food is good;
service is great.

| Rascals Comedy Club | West Orange, NJ | |
|
Excellent food in the first floor restaurant (comedy club is
in the basement). There is a variety of appetizers and entrees
from which to choose, and the quality rivals any restaurant in
the area. Drinks can be a little watered down at times, depending
upon the bartender.

| Gate House Restaurant | West Orange, NJ | |
|
The food is delicious, and reservations are always needed as
this is a popular spot, especially on the weekends.

| Highlawn Pavilion | West Orange, NJ | |
|
A beautiful view and excellent food, as long as you're not a basic
steak-and-potatoes person. The place is a little price-y, but
it's worth it for any special celebration.

| Mount Fuji Japanese Steak Hse | West Orange, NJ | |
|
Not exactly a top notch Japanese restaurant, but it is a fun evening
out. The food is good; the atmosphere, casual. An excellent place
to take the whole family.

| Pals Cabin | West Orange, NJ | |
|
I have enjoyed the food here, from the hamburgers to the Norwegian
salmon, every time I've visited Pals. And the upstairs restaurant
is my favorite place to sit because of all windows and the activity
outside the restaurant. The wait staff is very friendly, and
you're always treated like a regular.

| Golden Touch Diner | East Hanover, NJ | |
|
NJ has a lot of good diners, and this is one of them. Especially
when you get those late night munchies, this is a good place to
satisfy almost any craving.

||
| Apple B's | Livingston, NJ | |
|
Sure, it's a chain, but the food is good. Make sure, though, that
you specify that you'd like your lemonade and flavored drinks
made with regular water (and not carbonated soda water).

| Ocean King | Livingston, NJ | |
|
Things don't seem to have changed much since they changed the
name from North Sea Village -- which is a good thing. Definitely
visit for dim sum on Saturday and Sunday mornings; it's a fun and
unique experience, and the food is great. The chef used to be from
Hong Kong, but I cannot say if it is the same guy now.

||
| Panevino Ristorante | Livingston, NJ | |
|
Get there early on the weekends, or you'll have a long wait. This
is a very popular restaurant. The food is good, nothing to write
home about, but the orange iced tea and the sparkling wines are
the best. Also, if you're into something a little different,
try the pizza.

| Ritz Diner | Livingston, NJ | |
|
Yuck! I have had only one edible meal at this diner, and that's
the turkey salad. Sure, they give you a ton of food, but it is consistently
terrible. The diner is full of teenagers morning, noon and night,
and the service is slow. Why this place is so busy is beyond me.
Double yuck!

| Ling Ling Chinese Cuisine | Millburn, NJ | |
|
Delicious. Better quality than you'll get in most NJ Chinese
restaurants. And they don't skimp (e.g., you'll get jumbo shrimp
and not the cheap miniature shrimp that comes in a can). Also,
if you're a little adventurous, try the green tea or -- even better
-- red bean ice cream. They could do away with the chocolate fortune
cookies, but everything else is divine.

| Taste of Asia | Montclair, NJ | |
|
This is my favorite restaurant. The menu changes regularly (about
every 6 months) according to what the customers like. The service
is great, and the personal attention by the owner is something
I've never experienced before. You will not be disappointed.

| South Park Grill | Montclair, NJ | |
|
This place is a pick-up joint, and everything in the place is "plastic"
-- even the food. And don't think you'll be able to walk out of this
joint without smelling like a pack of cigarettes. It may look
like food. It may look like a restaurant/bar. But it's all an illusion.
Walk down Bloomfield Avenue in either direction, and you can
find better.

||
| Pat's Tavern | Belmar, NJ | |
|
The place is allegedly known for using real food, especially
the potatoes. However, they tasted like instant potatoes to
me. The food's not bad otherwise. The decor is nice, comfortable
and casual.
