| Blue Dolphin Restaurant | Apalachin, NY | |
|
It's a very popular "diner" off of Rt-17 heading into Endicott/Johnson
City, NY. The food is an odd variety, a lot of Greek, probably because
the owners are Greek. I don't care much for Greek entrees, but
the baklava
dessert is to die for. Service isn't too bad, never had anything
"out of this world", but neither have I had absolutely terrible service.

| Bud's Place | Apalachin, NY | |
|
Good Italian/family food in a warm atmosphere. Known for their pizza
and pasta. They have yummy salads and bread. Service isn't too bad either.
Only problem is, on weekends, it's insane! Eat there early!

| Donoli's Restaurant | Apalachin, NY | |
|
THE BEST Prime Rib around - hands down. I would recommend this to anyone
who likes Prime Rib. It's very hard to get into on weekends since that is
when they offer the prime rib special. If you are ordering that special,
the entree price goes up, but usually you can get a nice sandwich/fries
for $5-10.

| Mario's Pizza | Owego, NY | |
|
Good pizza - great prices. Sheet pizzas are really reasonably priced.
They have wing night on Tuesdays I believe. I enjoy their pasta dishes
as well. Mostly do take-out. The restaurant isn't bad, but more of a
"diner" atmosphere, kind of old decorating.

| Tony's Pizzeria & Restaurant | Owego, NY | |
|
Typical "Italian" restaurant under fairly new management. Not to be
confused with the Tony's in Endicott, the two restaurants have since
split ownership/management.
I like their pasta, especially the ravioli. Husband likes their
pizza. Nice atmosphere, overlooking the Susquehanna River. They
also have a cafe on the lower level for a more private/formal dining
atmosphere.
Warning - they don't take credit cards.

| Uncle David's Steak House | Owego, NY | |
|
This restaurant is now out of business - again. This building
has gone through so many different changes in ownership, styles
of cooking. When it was Uncle Dave's, it was very very overpriced
and the quality of the food was just not there. The ambiance was
nice, fairly fancy for being out in the middle of nowhere. I think
it was probably better when it used to be a bar/club called "Rick's
Day Hollow Inn"

| Treadway Inn Owego | Owego, NY | |
|
Expensive. About the only word that comes to mind. Very well known
for their weekend Sunday brunch. But, I can't see spending $15-20
on a brunch. I'd rather cook on my own or go to a diner. It's part
of the Treadway Hotel and does have a nice location right along
the Susquehanna River. Located near Hickories Park.

| El Cholo Cafe | Johnson City, NY | |
|
For "Mexican" food, I suppose this is going to be the most authentic
that you can find in the Triple City area. I wouldn't ever say that
it is true authentic and doubt that there is even a Mexican chef
on-hand. As a Spanish teacher, I wouldn't bring my classes here
for a true Mexican meal, the waitresses/waiters don't speak
Spanish. But, if you just want some decent "Mexican" food, it's
not a bad place to eat.

| Consol Family Kitchen | Endicott, NY | |
|
Italian, Italian, Italian. Can I say more? If I were my in-laws
and I was reviewing this restaurant, I'd mention their terrific
veal parmigiana. I can't say it's good because I don't like veal,
but what I have had (ravioli, manicotti), has been terrific.

| Lupo's | Endicott, NY | |
|
Home of the upstate NY spiedies. All sorts of spiedies. I'm not
a huge spiedie fan, but if that is what you are looking for, they
have got it. Also sell an assortment of spiedie cooking materials,
especially the marinade sauces. Close to IBM and popular at lunchtime.

||
| Nirchi's Pizza | Endicott, NY | |
|
Probably the best pizza in town. I adore their thick crust and
they have so many choices for toppings. Their buffalo wing pizza
is to die for. Also popular in my household is the white/garlic
pizza. Just be careful driving down Taft to pick it up, there are
tons of police always looking for people going over the 30 mph
speed limit (which is very easy to do on this long/steep hill!)

| Phil's Chicken House | Endicott, NY | |
|
I find their chicken to be tasty, better than KFC. The service
is friendly as well and they treat kids great! Each child gets
to pick a small toy/prize after their meal. My daughter loves
to come here. Also worth mentioning, and many people do not realize
this, Phil's has an awesome breakfast buffet. Hard to believe
coming from a "Chicken House", but I'd thoroughly recommend
trying their buffet!

| Sports Bar | Binghamton, NY | |
|
A general "sports bar" as mentioned in their title. They have
a neat concept of entering in to win a free party for you and up to
I believe 20 friends. But when my friend won a party and we went
there, the service was very very lacking. I found the bartenders
to be rather rude and unfriendly. To be a "newbie" at this bar must
not be a good thing. The drinks weren't bad. You get what you pay
for. Average drink prices, but they do have a buy 1, get 1 free happy
hour.

| Carmella's Restaurant | Nichols, NY | |
|
No other word to describe this restaurant than a "Truck Stop".
The billboards refer to it as an Italian restaurant, but I found
it severely lacking in that department. Their wedding soup was
completely awful and the waiter admitted it wasn't even homemade.
Their spaghetti was worse than what I make and that's not saying
too much! Supposedly their theory is that you get huge portions,
but I'd rather get small portions and have it taste good.

| Aiello's Italian Restaurant | Whitney Point, NY | |
|
Not bad for an Italian restaurant. It's pretty authentic, even
owned by Italian immigrants. The service we had was okay to start
with, but then soon went downhill. It took forever to get refills
(they just instituted a free refill policy). The prices seemed
to be a bit high for Italian. The bread wasn't spectacular either,
but I'd return when in the area and hungry.

||
| Coyote Loco Restaurant | Ithaca, NY | |
|
Not true/authentic Mexican by a long shot. All "American" people
working there. They did have great salsa/chips. The drinks weren't
too bad, but WAY overpriced. Don't get the shaken margarita,
it was horrid, frozen was okay though. I wasn't all that pleased
with my entree. Thought Chi-Chis was almost better.
|
||
| Two Brothers Pizza | Lacona, NY | |
|
Just your average pizza joint kinda in the middle of nowhere.
We have a place up on Lake Ontario and it is in a good location for
us to order out when we don't feel like cooking. They deliver and
usually pretty quickly. Nothing specatacular, but nothing
bad either!
|
||
| Ryan's Family Steak House | Kokomo, IN | |
|
Food Trough!! It's good food though, better than Ponderosa and
those other "feed your face" restaurants. People are very friendly,
but they do seem to want tips for not doing much. Lots and lots of
people go there. Course, not much else to do in Kokomo but eat out.
|
||
| Hacienda Mexican Restaurant | Kokomo, IN | |
|
Definitely not true Mexican food, but it's a lot of fun to meet
friends and hang out. Their margaritas are fabulous. They make
them in this little "Icee" machine and boy do they hit you fast!
:-) I liked the summer karaoke that they ran. Never participated,
but was fun to watch. If you want the "real deal", go to "El Arriero."
|
||
| Captain's Cove Prime Rib & Seafood Restaurant | Kokomo, IN | |
|
Hrm - expect me to give this place good reviews when it gave my husband
such severe food poisoning that we were up all night long? He had
some bad fried clams, so just beware.
