| Saltys At Redondo | Redondo, WA | |
|
Salty's at Redondo is the precursor to the restaurant Salty's
at Alki. You can get some of the most fabulous seafood entrees,
including my favorite the seafood fettucine, served in a cream
sauce filled with salmon, shellfish, and whitefish served over
linguine. Their chicken and steak dinners are also done up in
style. On a sunny day have your meal served on their deck surrounding
the restaurant, you get a beautiful view of the Puget Sound. Elegant
dining with a superior wait staff makes Salty's a must for those
wishing for a truly great dining experience. They have a wine
list with excellent selections. SAlty's at Redondo can be a bit
pricey but a truly elegant restaurant cannot come cheap. It is
worth the money for a dining experience like this.

| Homeport Anthony's | Des Moines, WA | |
|
Another of the Seatt;le areas foremost seafood establishments,
Anthony's serves up very good seafood and pasta. Located on the
waterfront in Des Moines, Wa. you have a nice view of the waterfront
and not far from the docks at the Des Moines marina. Before or after
dinner I suggest a walk to observe some of the fine craft berthed
there. While Anthony's is a fine seafood restaaurant I do not
believe it is as good as the prices reflect. Anthony's is a great
p[lace for an evening out but costs a bit more than the food warrants.
Nonetheless, give it a try, your opinion may differ from mine.

| Goofather's Pizza Enumclaw | Enumclaw, WA | |
|
This Godfather's compares favorably to the rest of this chain
of pizzarias in the Northwest. of particular notice is the all-you-can-eat
buffet they have during the lunch hours. For a fair price you get
an unlimited amount of pizza by the slice that you can choose with
a variety of toppings, ranging from the ususal pepperoni, sausage,
etc. to the combo style or maybe hawaiian. This brunch/buffett
also includes desert pizza, a tasty variety of sweet, sugary
toppings baked on pizza dough, and do not forget the salad bar
which comes with avariety of extras to add to yur favorite salad
(lettuce, spinach, etc.). Everpresent is the specials where
you can buy a family size pizza for under twenty dollars or your
choice of pizza, the toppings picked by you. Beer and wine is
available and for the kids they have a multitude of video games
to amuse them (this can be moe expensive than your dinner if you
aren't careful. Great for a family afternoon or evening out.

| Marlee's Restaurant & Lounge | Enumclaw, WA | |
|
Nothing exceptional here, just traditional cafe food somewhat
bland and no remakable flavor to set itself aside from the mediocre.
They offer a dining room serving steaks, some seafood(obviously
frozen and at best second-rate). The atmosphere is lacking in
taste and decor and the service can be surly and at its' best trying.
No reccomendations from me. The odds of finding a better restaurant
around the next corner are very good.

| Radens Steak & Seafood House | Auburn, WA | |
|
The food here can best be described as average. The steaks are
mediocre as is the rest of the food. They serve an assortment of
meals that are standard fare in many run-of-the-mill eateries.
Their main business seems to be the bar, in which they have rock
bands, and the food is secondary. Nothing here can be said to be
any better than ok. This is not a place I would reccomend to actively
seek out for dinner.

| All City Diner | Renton, WA | |
|
The food was good and the service was friendly and competent.
They serve an array of burgers to dinner entrees including steaks,
sandwiches, soups, and salads. The atmosphere is friendly,
a step above your average diner. A good place to stop for an impromptu
lunch or dinner. Not bad but not exciting. A competent restaurant.

| Pizza Time | Federal Way, WA | |
|
Pizza Time serves up a very good pizza either in house ot to go (delivery
is available for an extended area). It has a better than average
pizza and I think it to be a step above some of the delivery pizza
outlets. They use real cheese, a generous amount of sauce (often
a problem with a lot of pizza servers).
Their in house service is good, the wait time is reasonable and
the surroundings pleasant. All in all Pizza Time compares favorably
to any of the other pizza restaurants that I have visited. If you
like pizza you won't be disappointed with this one.

| M & M Bar & Cafe | Butte, MT | |
|
I gave three stars to the M&M in large part to the rustic atmosphere.
If anyplace can be said to personify Butte, Montana this is the
place. They serve steaks and sandwiches, breakfasts in the morning,
and a usual array of dishes that you would find at roadside cafe,
not that the M&M is a roadside cafe. It is located in the heart of
uptown Butte and has been there for many years. You can eat at the
counter around the grill and watch the cook at work. This place
is a mainstay for many Butte citizens. So if you are travelling
through Montana, visit Butte and get a touch of what it was like
in years past when Butte was a bustling, busy mining town. The
history of this town is amazing. At one time the population exceeded
one hundred thousand people, a hefty population back then. Try
this place that personifies the western frontier, there is very
little left to remind us of such heady times.

| Pekin Noodle Parlor | Butte, MT | |
|
This is the place for chinese food. The Peking has been a Butte
treasure for a long time. They serve great chinese food plus american
also. You dine in a booth with drawn curtains for privacy, the
atmosphere is as delicious as the food. Situated on the second
floor (you walk up from the entrance on Main St.), it has an air
of seediness to it that instead of detracting from the ambience
it creates a mood of long ago when Butte was at its' high point during
the gold rush days. It is rumored that in the layers below there
is the remnants of an old opium den. Ask about it. This is a town
of history and the Peking is reminder of that period.

| Shogun Restaurant | Salt Lake City, UT | |
|
The Shogun is a restaurant specializing in Japanese cuisine.
Your dinner can be cooked at your table, a wok is placed there and
a chef cuts and cooks the meat and vegetables right before your
eyes. Watching their expertise with the knives is a sight to behold.
The food is excellent, the atmosphere is equally so. There is
a wide variety of itenms available including prawns, stir-fried
vegetables, chicken, beef, and sushi. Drinks are aviailable
in the inimitable Utah style (their liquor laws varying from
what most visitors from out of state are used to).
For an engaging and entertaining dinig experience I recommend
this restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

| George's Place | Kirkland, WA | |
|
George's is a greek restaurant, owned and operated by a native
greek. Theyserve an abundance of greek dishes. You can get dolmades
(one of my favorites), grape leaves stuffed with lamb, wonderful
greek salads with feta cheese, greek olives. One of the best items
is the pastitsio, a sort of Greek version of lasgna. it consists
of spiced ground lamb layered with zita psta and two cream sauces
(one light and the other heavy) then baked. A lot of preparation
goes into this dish and will not disappoint the diner. Located
in downtown Kirkland, stop in and try it.

| The Mazatlan Restaurant | Enumclaw, WA | |
|
An excellent wait staff, all from Mexico. The owners are also
from Mexico and are long-time residents of Enumclaw also. They
own a chain of similar named restaurants throughout the Seattle
area but this location is their flagship.
The food is exceptionally good, served promptly no matter how busy it may get. They have the usual fare of most Mexican restaurants but prepared better than most. Their dishes range from steaks mexican-style to american, traditional entrees such as burritos, tacos, enchiladas, all done in a variety of styles from vegetarian to chicken and beef. I prefer the dishes served en mole sauce, a bitter sweet sauce that gives each dish a tang to it that I find pleasing. They also have a kids menu featuring mexican style and hot dogs to hamburgers (you can also get hamburgers served up with a mexican flair). They have a variety of drinks at the bar available at your table. They range from different types of margueritas and pina coladas to every other alcoholic drink that you can think of. They also serve a virgin (non-alcoholic) style of pina coladas and margueritas that are very popular with the younger clientele. The Mazatlan has a loyal following from the Enumclaw area but also is a popular stop on the way to skiing at Crystal Mountain near Mt. Rainier. I suggest reservations ona weekend because they are very crowded with usually a backup crowd waiting to get a table. Ask for Theresa Cardenas, the owner/manager cum hostess. This is a very nice spot for those with a taste for Mexican. |

| China Palace Of Auburn | Auburn, WA | |
|
Another of the typical chinese-american restaurants that abound
thoughout the u.s. The cuisine is typical of most of the restaurants
in this category, featuring such dishes as sweet and sour pork,
chow yuk, pork in a batter served in a variety of sauces, a scattering
of hot and spicy dishes usually designated szechan or mongolian
(how hot can be varied according to your tastes). They also serve
a small menu of steak and seafood done ala american including
the everpresent hambuger with fries. One item stands out and
that is the won ton soups available as an entree and their other
noodle soups are tasty and filling and served in generous abundance.
Great for a chinese food fix and the bar offers drinks for your
pleasure. Not a great restaurant but fine for a relaxed evening
out.

| Big Daddy's | Auburn, WA | |
|
Big Daddy's is a classic burger joint serving the usual fare of
burgers, fries, and shakes along with other items ordinarily
served at an American burger palace. The food is average, the
service fair, nothing here to outshine any other burger joint
in this part of the country. One thing it does have that most places
do not is that on the weekends local car enthusiasts bring in their
classic cars that they have worked and slaved on and it provides
a good show for those who wish to join in and for those who just want
to look at the craftmanship used to produce these autos.

||
| Billy Mc Hales Restaurant | Federal Way, WA | |
|
The most impressive thing about this restaurant is the amount
of microbeers they have on tap and the varied flavors of margueritas.
Other than that the food is average, although the ribs served
weren't bad. Unfortunately, after ordering the entree you had
to order side dishes seperately and the one's that I had were not
very exceptional. It seems to cater to a young crowd (21-30),
and the most frequently visited area is the bar. If you are a young
person out for the night this may appeal to you. Not for the werious
diner.
|
||
| Keg Restaurant | Federal Way, WA | |
|
Primarily a steak and seafood house. The steaks were good, the
seafood average. We went on a weekday night and the crowd was good
but not confining with a short wait. From talking to the waiter
I gather that the weekends are very crowded, apparrently a populat
spot. A nice place to go for an unplanned dinner (reservations
are generally required though) but I wouldn't pick this spot
for a celebratory dining experience.

| Ivar's Original Seafood Bar | Spokane, WA | |
|
Definitely not the Ivar's of Seattle, but then Ivar's on the waterfront
in Seattle has never been as good since they remodeled it years
ago. This is a poor copy of the Ivar's that Seattleites have loved
for years. The food was more like that of a fast food restaurant,
the service (while not unfriendly) was lackluster like the wait
persons would much rather be somewhere else (probably dining
in another seafood restaurant). This is not a place I would pick
to dine again, unless all the other restaurants in Spokane closed
down. Even the french fries were bad.
|
||
| Zip's Drive In | Spokane, WA | |
|
This is the drive-in of my youth. All the varieties of hamburgers
(with special sauce), fish and chips, french fries, milk shakes,
soda, all for a reasonable price, open late for the deep-fried
cravings and those out at night. For a quick meal on the way home
or satisfying a late-night craving this is a good spot to go. With
luck, on a weekend night, you maye even catch a fight between a
couple of hotheaded young men. Maybe I'm just too nostalgic.

| La Posada Mexican Restaurant | Auburn, WA | |
|
Overall one of the better mexican restaurants I have been to in
the Auburn area. Located in a strip mall at the south end of Auburn
Ave., tucked away near a Radio Shack store, this restaurant has
good service, good food, and a deep-fried bread (sopapilla)
that is one of the tastiest treats I have ben served in a mexican
fare eatery. Served with honey this deep-fried specialty is
the perfect complement to the dishes they serve. The entrees
are comparable to just about any that you can find in a mexican-american
restaurant but it is the friendliness of the wait staff and most
definitely the sopapillas that will bring you back. Reasonably
priced and comfortable atmosphere.

| Salty's On Alki | Seattle, WA | |
|
Salty's offers a magnificent view of downtown Seattle across
the bay. At nightime the view is spectacular with the lights of
the city shing across the sound. It features live jazz in the evenings,
a great complement to the dining experience.
You can order live dungeness crab or Maine lobster from a tank in their lobby. The salmon is exquisite and they feature oysters and clams harvested from Northwest beaches. The steaks are top grade and they offer chicken and pasta dishes prepared wonderfully. My favorite is the seafood pasta alfredo. Thick with scallops, salmon, white fish, and other delicasies served with a delicious sauce over pasta this dish is very rich and very pleasing. For a special night out or just a an early dinner, for just about any occasion I reccomend Salty's to everyone. One catch, bring a well padded wallet or your credit card and be prepared to pay. It is worth it! Did I mention the outdoor dining? On a nice day you cannot beat dining on their patio or deck. |
