| Smokey Bones Barbeque and Grill | York, PA | |
|
This is pretty good bbq for a chain. The brisket and pulled pork are very
good as is the smoked sausage. The warm cornbread with pecan butter
very tasty. The service at the York establishment is usually good.
I had only been there once before and when I returned several months
later, I had the same waitress and she still remembered what I drank.
There are better places for bbq, but none anywhere nearby.

| Pakhas Thai House | Dillsburg, PA | |
|
Pretty good Thai food. Nice menu selection, although there is
a lot more to pick from on the take-out menu than the dinner menu,
so ask for the take-out menu. They don't have a buffet, but the
quality of the food more than makes up for it. The service is usally
good and the portions are ample. I have never had a bad meal there.
Their spring rolls are light and crispy, the Pad Thai is excellent
with a lot of different meats (or vegetable) to choose from. Both
the green and red curries are quite delicious. A good place to
go for lunch or dinner when you are in the mood for something different.

| Chris's Country Kitchen Rstrnt | Chambersburg, PA | |
|
Good standard american fare. Well prepared comfort food in a
friendly family environment. Service is friendly and prompt.

| Inlow's Drive-In | Duncansville, PA | |
|
The place to go if you want the nostalgia of foot long hot dogs.
They prepare em a bunch of different ways. My favorite is chili
with coleslaw or maybe the reuben with saurkraut, swiss and thousand
island dressing. They have good breakfast food and standard
diner fare as well. Good local lunch hangout.

| Chang's Buffet Chinese Rstrnt | York, PA | |
|
Good standard chinese buffet food. Its a great place to go for
lunch. The service is fine and the food is well prepared, combined
with a good price ya can't go wrong. It isnt fine dining, but its
a good place to eat.

| Kelly's Inn | York, PA | |
|
I was told that this was the best place in York for good seafood.
It wasn't bad but I certainly wasn't impressed. The wait was long
and the service wasn't particularly fast. I will grant that they
were busy that night, but I was not overly impressed with the food
and found it to be only average. Perhaps our meals suffered due
to the rush, but I could have gotten a better meal at Red Lobster(and
I consider that to be McSeafood).

| West York Inn | York, PA | |
|
I was told what a great place this was for steaks. I could have done
better at any of the steak chain restaurants. The service was
slow and unattentive. The salad was warm, the rolls weren't overly
fresh. The steaks were quite mediocre and the crab cakes had a
good bit of shell left in them. Needless to say I didn't have a good
time here and I won't be back anytime soon.

| C C Peppers | State College, PA | |

Great Cheese steaks. Excellent fries with lots of toppings.
Great place to eat, but dont go if you are in a hurry.

| Gardens Restaurant | State College, PA | |
|
The food isnt too bad here, but it certainly isn't as good as it
is made out to be. The seafood buffet has a fair variety and good
quality, but it pretends to be real fine dining and it just doesn't
live up to the airs it puts on. The atmosphere is nice enough and
the service is ok as well. I guess what I am saying is that, it's
a nice place to eat, but it's not the five star restaurant that
it pretends to be. The bartenders are really sub par too, I mean,
what bartender doesnt know how to make a daquiri, not the frozen
strawberry thing, a real daquiri. When I asked the bartender
what good bourbons he had, he just stared at me like a deer in the
headlights and said quizzically Jack Daniels??

| Quarryville Family Restaurant | Quarryville, PA | |
|
This is a nice little cozy restaurant. The prices were good and
the food was too. The service was friendly and the atmosphere
made you feel right at home. Good solid american farm and diner
food. A great place to go for lunch in Quarryville.
|
||
| Miner's Rest | Patton, PA | |
|
The best place to eat in Patton, now that the Apple Barrel is no
more. Good solid american food at affordable prices. Coal mining
town atmosphere which is appropriate for the local. The stuffed
porkchops are excellent.

||
| Scozzaro's Old Mill Inn | New Oxford, PA | |
|
Excellent burgers and soups. The entrees are very nice too, although
a little pricey for the area. Service is friendly if not always
fast. Dancing and bands on weekends. A nice place for lunch or
dinner.

||
| Rosie's Restaurant | New Oxford, PA | |
|
A good place to eat any time, but breakfasts are the best. Very
good french toast along with other well prepared American breakfast
type food. The service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere
is down home.

| Burger Hut | Ashville, PA | |
|
This is your run-of the mill custard stand. Very Americana. Good
place for a sunday or a cone of softserve. They make burgers, fries,
shakes and other stuff of the usual drive-in sort. Food quality
is ok. There is some outside seating if the weather is good and
they have a mini-golf course on the premises. Good place to stop
if the kids are bein fussy.

| Creekside Inn | East Freedom, PA | |
|
A really nice place to eat. One of the best in the entire Altoona
area, the creekside Inn has a lot to offer. It's just off the Roaring
Spring Exit of I99. They have great American restaurant food.
The southwest veal parmesan was innovative and really delicious
and the crabcakes were excellent. The service was very prompt
and very friendly. This is a nice place to go out to eat if you don't
mind spending a little money. You get what you pay for here!

||
| Boalsburg Steak House | Boalsburg, PA | |
|
Good standard american steakhouse. Can't miss the giant Hereford
on the roof. Good steaks, and salads. Limited selection of seafood.
Food was well prepared but not outstanding. Service is ok as long
as they aren't too busy.
|
||
| Sportsman's Hotel | Renovo, PA | |
|
One of the better places to eat in the area and usually pretty busy.
During hunting and fishing seasons it's downright crowded.
The food is good standard American restaurant fare with good
portions for a fair price. Rustic decor. Service is friendly
if not overly quick.

||
| El Serrano Restaurant | York, PA | |
|
The best mexican food in the York area by far. Good varied menu
of interesting and delicious mexican specialties. You can find
standard items meade extremely well and you can find some interesting
stuff on the menu as well. Good service and great food!

| Best Wok | Hanover, PA | |
|
Very nice chinese restaurant. They have a medium size buffet,
but the price is good and the food is very well prepared. Their
wonton soup is very good, unlike most chinese buffets. The food
off the menu is better than that on the buffet, but the buffet food
is still really good. Service is quick and reliable and the decor
is very nice. A great place to go for a casual lunch or dinner.
|
||
| La Cucina | Hanover, PA | |
|
This place has some nice Italian food. The decor is very quaint
and very Italian. Lots of hand painting on the walls gives it a
wonderful warm feeling. The service is pleasant if not always
quick and the Maitre'D is always smiling and cheerfull. They
have a nice selection of pasta and Italian specialties as well
as an interesting lunch menu with great sandwiches and gourmet
personal pizzas. I've never had a bad meal here. It's not the cheapest
place to get lunch or dinner, but then, sometimes you get what
you pay for.
