| Cafe Diplomatico & Restaurant | Toronto, ON | |
|
Located in Little Italy, offers both inside and outside patio dining.
We chose outside since the weather was nice but the large windows on
the restaurant were open and the freezing cold a/c spilled out and made
the patio cold too.
The food was wonderful. We ordered an antipasto appetizer with several
types of vegetables, all fresh and high quality. I had a pasta with a
spicy sauce. The sauce was barely spicy but it was still quite good.
The best part of the whole meal was the beer. We had the house beer which
was a bit of a dark lager. It had a really nice flavor, wish it was sold
in bottles.

| Shogun Japanese Restaurant | Lenexa, KS | |
|
Hidden back in the shopping center with Sams Club. I've driven
by here many times and didn't know it existed until I found a coupon
in the Entertainment book this year.
Overall this was a little above average for local Japanese steakhouses.
I thought the steak & shrimp was great and the presentation was
pretty good. I like the soup at other restaurants better.

| Sakura Japanese Restaurant | Shawnee Mission, KS | |
|
Average Japanese steakhouse. I've eaten at nearly every one in
the area and since they're pretty much all the same price this was
the one and only time I'll probably visit Sakura. I ordered steak
& shrimp. The food quality was marginal to average. Presentation
was good but didn't make up for the lower food quality.

| Nikko's Japanese Steak House | Shawnee Mission, KS | |
|
This one shows up in the Entertainment book with a buy one get one deal.
I thought it was worth a try. I'd say it was very average for this
area as far as Japanese Steakhouses go. I ordered steak & shrimp.
I think the food quality was fine but not notably outstanding. The presentation
wasn't nearly as entertaining as other Japanese steakhouses.

| Pine & Bamboo Garden | Shawnee Mission, KS | |
|
Much better than average Chinese restaurant in Shawnee. I had beef
and green peppers and a bowl of hot & sour soup. Everything was great,
I had no complaints at all.

| Johnny Cascone's Restaurant | Shawnee Mission, KS | |
|
Johhny Cascone's has great pastas... a huge variety to choose
from. I went with a traditional spaghetti and it was great. I think overall
the prices were very fair considering the type of restaurant. It is
no doubt better than the Olive Garden!!!

| Mr Goodcents Franchise System | Shawnee Mission, KS | |
|
I prefer Goodcents over Subway any day of the week. I grabbed lunch here
yesterday, I wish they were a little cheaper but I do think the quality
is a lot higher than similar sub shops. I had an italian type sub with
a few italian meets on it. I can't complain at all about the taste,
it did the job.

| Old Country Buffet | Shawnee Mission, KS | |
|
Need I say, JUST SAY NO! It is a family style buffet, but they must cater
to those old enough to have lost their tast buds already. Most items
were over seasoned or sauced... something I find typicall at restaurants
like this. It covers up any natural taste the meat or vegetable might
have had... but we'll never know will we?

| Taste of China | Shawnee Mission, KS | |
|
Not bad at all. I eat a lot of Chinese food, so I can quickly pick out the
ones who don't use quality meats, sauces, and vegetables. I got
beef with green peppers with an order of hot and sour soup. The beef was
better quality and it seems like they actually made the sauce themselves
rather than taking it from a La Choy can like a lot of chinese restaurants
seem to. Their hot and sour soup really hit the spot. I can recomend this
one for you.

| Scoreboards Restaurant & Bar | Shawnee Mission, KS | |
|
The last reviewer couldn't have said it any better. The smoke was
so thick you could cut it. The food is all bar food. We tried an appitizer
sampler and none of the items included were any good at all. The potato
skins were mushy, buffalo wings had WAY too much sauce on them... I ordered
chicken, I want to be able to tast the chicken... take a hint the sauce
should only be for accent not to cover the taste of the chicken!

| Taco Via | Shawnee Mission, KS | |
|
It is a good alternative to Taco Bell. I actually do like their tacos
here better. The food is certainly all cheap, so you can have a good sized
lunch without spending more than $5.

||
| Side Pockets | Shawnee Mission, KS | |
|
This place has a fun atmosphere because of the pool tables. The food
isn't great, but not as bad as some other bars in the area. Prices
are reasonable in my opinion... most bars like to really give it to you
with food prices. I can certainly recomend this to others.

| Hereford House | Kansas City, MO | |
|
The steaks are great, but of course that is what they are known for. Having
said that, they are really over-rated. For the price of a nice steak
here you can get much better in Kansas City at other high end restaurants.
They are a regional chain restaurant and they show it... it doesn't
have the atmosphere I look for in this price range... Steak good but
not the best and atmosphere leaves something to be desired.

| Gables | St Andrews, NB | |
|
Great seafood restaurant right on the waters edge. During the summer
time when it is warm they have a large outdoor dining area right on the
waters edge (at high tide only of course --- this is the Bay of Fundy remember)
The focus here is on Lobster and other Canadian maritime seafood. They
also offer an array of sandwiches and daily specials. I tried a half
cold lobster plate and have no complaints at all with it. My wife orderd
mussels from Prince Edward Island. The portion size of the mussels
is certainly large. Some folks at the table next to us orderd a huge lobster.
I want to say it was 8 pounds... by far the larges lobster I have ever seen.
I heard the waitress say they don't normally have one that large
there, but they can always order it for you if you request it ahead of
time. Talk about great service... Wow. This is a highly recomended
stop for you if you're going into St. Andrews for a whale watching
tour or anything else for that matter.

| Gould's Fried Clams | Shediac, NB | |
|
Located right on the main drag in Shediac, this is an easy stop after
a day at nearby Parlee Beach. Offerings are basically all fried something
or other from the ocean. Fried clams, shrimp, fish, and even scallops
were the most popular items on the menu. I had the fried shrimp and my
wife orderd fried clams. Both were good, not outstanding though. This
isn't a gourmet restaurant by any means, but it isn't a place
to be avoided if you're looking for a nice budget meal.

| Mai Tai Restaurant | Presque Isle, ME | |
|
We were there during lunch time and got the buffet. I would say the selection
was small, but probably large considering what part of the country
we were in. The quality however left a lot to be desired. It wasn't
terrible, I have had worse. Avoid the Hot and Sour soup at all costs,
they make it with tomato sauce.

| Big Boy Family Restaurant | Perrysburg, OH | |
|
Very friendly staff. That was a complete shock to me, since we walked
in 30 minutes before closing. I expected them to try to rush us out, but
they certainly didn't. The greeter and our server were both very
nice, much more so that I get in more expensive restaurants. I ordered
a pot roast sandwich which was pretty decent. My wife ordered chicken
noodle soup which was made with homemade style noodles. Her soup was
also pretty good. This was a good stop after a long day of driving, and
certainly wasn't disappointing given expectations.

||
| Waffle House | Girard, OH | |
|
Ok, it is a waffle house, I don't know that they vary much across
the country. The food was quite average as expected. I ordered country
ham wich came with eggs and hash browns. The staff did seem more intelligent
than the average waffle house staff however, so I can recomend this
particular one for that reason.

| Peking Chinese Restaurant | Watertown, SD | |
|
This is a decent Chinese restaurant. We stopped here on the way home
from Canada, in this part of the country pickins are slim. We were actually
the only customers in the restaurant until just before we left. I would
say the food is average. The sauces didn't taste like they were
from La Choy, which is a plus... I've been to plenty of other chinese
restaurants that seem to get their sauces from their cans. Vegetables
were fresh cut, again they didn't look to be from cans either. Don't
go out of your way to eat here, but if you are passing through Watertown
and need to eat it isn't a bad choice.

||
| Kfc | Grand Forks, ND | |
|
This is one of the KFC restaurants with a buffet. Don't get suckered
into the buffet. The variety of items isn't that great. Most likely
you can get everything you want from the buffet off the menu in a combo
meal for less $$. OK, so maybe you're a big person and you really
are going to eat 4 chicken breasts and 5 servings of mashed patatoes??
Not likely but if that is you then you need to stop.. it isn't healthy
and if you do that at KFC regularly you'll end up having a heart attack.
