To put it in a nutshell: OVER RATED.
When I spend this kind of money on dinner, I expect perfection. Instead, I found this restaurant to be mediocre . . . SORRY! |

Half the restaurant was empty, and we had to wait 20 minutes for
a table! Why? Our server was young and lacked professionalism.
The food was slightly below average. They tried to pass off a small
clam plate as a large one: 17 clams for 17.95 . . . I don't think so!
The salad was free, but the charge for bleu cheese dressing was
$1.

The prices have increased a great deal under the new ownership:
$24 for rack of lamb!? It used to be $21, and a dinner salad was included
then. No real changes have been made that should escalate prices
like this . . . as far as I can tell they have just added white table
clothes. The old owners food had more flavor, and the place used
to be more fun.

Superb! We got the best table (ask for table 15, for 2), with a wonderful
view of Mt. Battie, and the sunset! Try the lobster cake, chateaubriand,
rack of lamb, ostrich and the "to-die-for" creme brulee. The
best restaurant in the area: Could easily compete in a major metro
area.

I agree with the other reviewers: Nice location, inferior service,
medicre food.

| Chez Michel | Lincolnville, ME | |
|
I have agreed with Emily, on other reviews, up to this point. However,
she seems to be confusing this restaurant with another. Chez
Michel's food is not really French, or expensive for that matter.
It is a tourist driven restaurant, with mostly Maine fare. There
are a few French dishes, as the chef is French. The food is decent
(good prices on lobster). The the atmosphere is like a carnival
. . . too many people, lots of kids!
