| Marie Callender's Restaurant | Daly City, CA | |
|
This is a very convenient place to go if you go to Serramonte Shopping
Center and you don't want fast food. This was the only choice before
Elephant Bar just opened in Dec of 2006 to have a regular meal and not
fast food while shopping. The pies are excellent and the food is very
good. Their menu is quite large, so there is something for everyone.
They have a brunch on Saturdays and Sundays which is very popular too.

| Cybelles Pizza | Daly City, CA | |
|
The price depends on the kind of pizza you order. We have never eaten
in here, but we have ordered many pizzas from here. The pizzas are good
compared to a lot of the other local pizza places around and we keep going
back.

| Great Steak & Fry | Daly City, CA | |
|
What can I say? This is a fast food, food court type restaurant. I've
had the fries (good) and the cheesesteake and chicken cheesesteak
sandwiches..both ok, not exceptional, but it's fast food.

| Bj's Restaurant & Brewery | San Bruno, CA | |
|
I am so pleased that a BJ's opened near SF. I have gone many times
to the BJ's down near UCLA in Westwood and love it. This BJ's
in San Bruno opened a couple months ago and it's very hard to get
into on a Friday or Saturday night, but otherwise it's a huge restaurant
with plenty of seating. There is a very large menu, so even the pickiest
of eaters can find something to eat, and like. I have tried all sorts
of things from pizzas to sandwiches, to just about everything in between
and have liked it all. Portions are large and filling. They have pizza,
pasta, stuffed potatoes, sandwiches, chicken, etc etc. The list goes
on and on. They also are a brewery and have tons of beers on the menu, along
with any drink you could possibly want. The best thing about BJ's
is the PIZZOKIE...a very fresh, warm from the oven large cookie with
ice cream on it. Go for that if nothing else! Yummy!

| Hoffman's Bakery Cafe | Santa Cruz, CA | |
|
This place is wonderful! Recently spent the weekend in Santa Cruz and
while walking downtown ran across Hoffmans. Went for a late breakfast
and had the most wonderful eggs benedict on artichoke bottoms I think
I have ever had. My husband had an omlette which he said was filled to
the brim with fresh ingredients. All breakfasts are served with delicious
scones and the service could not have been friendlier. We loved it so
much we went back the next day for lunch and were very satisfied with
the salad and sandwiches we had. I recommend this place highly if you
are walking around downtown Santa Cruz. There is also a Bakery, but
we didn't buy anything, although it all looked very good.

| Gilbert Seafood Grill | Santa Cruz, CA | |
|
I guess I am just spoiled by the wonderful seafood restaurants we have
here in San Francisco, because this one was very disappointing. It
was recommended by some locals, but there were many other fish restaurants
on the wharf that probably would have been better. Maybe we just ordered
the wrong things, but we had fried scallops which were alright, except
the fries that came with them were less than good. One person ordered
a special which is salmon with spinach wrapped in filo, but it sounded
better than it tasted. The french bread was ok, but not SF sourdough,
and the service as ok too, but not exceptional. We were less than impressed
and will not go back. Dinner for three was around $75.

| Rosie Mccann's Irish Pub & Restaurant | Santa Cruz, CA | |
|
This place is great! A long stairway leads you up to a very pleasant restaurant
and bar. Service was very, very friendly and the food was great. We had
a burger and fries (exceptional and very large), and corned beef and
cabbage which was excellent also. A huge beer selection as well. The
atmosphere is very casual, the service friendly and helpful, and the
food great! I recommend this place highly!

| Foster Freeze Alameda | Alameda, CA | |
|
Gosh, haven't seen one of these for years. This one is ok,
but nothing to write home about. Went there to get a softy ice cream,
which was ok, but again, nothing special. It's been at this
location for years and it's still in business, so it must
be doing something right, although the few times I've driven
by it I haven't seen anyone in it.

| Noah's Bagels | Alameda, CA | |
|
Just ate lunch here yesterday. The shopping center is being redone,
but Noah's is still around. The bagels are as good as ever,
if you like Noah's bagels. I bought a half dozen, which disappered
quite quickly once I got them home. They bake them fresh daily.
I had, for the first time, a turkey club panini which was EXCELLENT.
I would recommend it highly. A friend had a pastrami sandwich
which rivaled Max's in size! Subway Sandwiches was right
across from Noah's in this shopping center and shut down
unexpectedly, but Noah's is a good alternative, even better
than Subway, albeit a bit more expensive.

| Sneakers Pub & Grill | San Carlos, CA | |
|
Went to the San Carlos Art & Wine Festival yesterday and ran
across Sneakers while there. What a great place! The menu is so
large that even the pickiest eater could find something to eat.
They have tables outside, which are great. The service was friendly,
and the food was wonderful! We had burgers, sandwiches and salads.
All were large portions, more than we could eat actually, and
all of excellent quality. I am anxious to go back to try some other
things from their large menu.

| El Torito | Burlingame, CA | |
|
El Torito is a chain, and like so many other chains the food is adequate,
even good, but not great. The prices here are average, and the
food is served in healthy portions. I like most everything I have
ever had here, but with all the choices down by this restaurant,
Elephant Bar, Gullivers, Max's, etc...I think I'd
chose somewhere else unless I was really craving American Mexican
food. The chips are good, served warm, but I think Chevy's
are better.

||
| Johnny Rockets | San Francisco, CA | |
|
Johnny Rocket's is a great place to grab a quick hamburger
and fries. They are pretty much like most fast food places, but
a step above. I agree with most other posts here, I'd choose
Mel's burgers and shakes over Johnny Rocket's any day,
but if you are in the neighborhood it's a quick stop and it
fills you up.

| Saltgrass Steak House | Galveston, TX | |
|
I set up this restaurant on here and posted the above review, but
I forgot to put my name, so I'm adding another review to hopefully
make it seem more legitimate. The restaurant is wonderful. Service
is friendly, as most service was in Texas. Steaks and prime rib
were excellent, along with every other dish we had (see above).
I would not think twice about going back to this great steakhouse.
It is very casual, with ample parking. They do not take reservations,
but we went on a Saturday night around 8PM and got right in. If you
are on Galveston Island try this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

| International House of Pancakes | Galveston, TX | |
|
I set this restaurant up and forgot to put my name on it, so I'm
writing another short review to make it more legit. We were in
Galveston recently taking a cruise from there and had one morning
when we needed to eat breakfast. The IHOP was a short distance
from our hotel, so we went over there. It is a very large IHOP, and
even so, the wait on a Sunday morning was about 20 - 25 minutes.
The service was good, but the food was less than adequate. I eat
at IHOPS occasionally, thinking that they do serve a good breakfast,
but this one was not very good and I would not recommend it.

| Morton's Steakhouse Arnie | Los Angeles, CA | |
|
Wanted to compare this to places like Harris', Ruth Chris
and Alfred's in SF and I must say that the night we were there
last week the food was excellent. I can't say it's better
than the other restaurants I mentioned, but it was comparable
in quality and price. If you want a great steak, good wine and a
very nice place to go, go here. You can't miss!

| Pink's Hot Dog Stand | Los Angeles, CA | |
|
Was told I MUST MUST MUST go here next time I was in LA to get a hot
dog, and I'm so glad I did. I seldom eat them, but this place
makes me want to have more! Line was rather long, but well worth
the wait. We had chili dogs and onion rings...to die for! GO!

| French Quarter Market Place Restaurant | Los Angeles, CA | |
|
I don't know how this place was put in the "French"
category, except the name has the word "French" in
it. It reminds me of of "The Elephant Bar" in a way,
as they have a huge menu, but nothing really "French"
on it. They have hamburgers, salads, etc...it's all ok,
but nothing outstanding. They do have a patio outside where you
can eat, but it is on a noisy street. We've always had good
service here and the place is usually busy, but the wait times
have been minimal. I had a club house sandwich this last time I
was there and it was good. The soups are apparently good too, but
I have never had one.

| Jose Bernstein's | Los Angeles, CA | |
|
This little "hole in the wall" place, not an eat in
restaurant, is within walking distance from UCLA and extremely
cheap. It is in Westwood, like so many other little tiny food places.
The students eat here all the time, or so I'm told by one of
my kids who goes to school there. I had a burrito which cost about
$2.50 and it was adequate. It's ok food, cheap prices and
fast.

||
| Bj's Pizza & Grill | Los Angeles, CA | |
|
I love this restaurant! It's right near UCLA and every time
I go down to see my kids we go there. The pizza's are great,
but so is everything else on the menu. The best thing is the pizookie
or however you spell that. It's a warm cookie, sort of undercooked,
in a round pan that is covered with ice cream. Go there for just
that if nothing else. They are great! Parking is hard, but everywhere
in Westwood is.

| Acapulco's Mexican Restraunt | Los Angeles, CA | |
|
Went here just this week while visiting LA and as always, the food
is good, but not exceptional. For people around the Bay Area it's
about on a par with Chevy's. We had fajitas (good, but not
served with cheese) and fish tacos. The fish was very fishy, but
ok. The mojito was not so great, but having just come back from
Jamaica I guess we really should not compare. Prices are about
the same as any other Mexican chain type restaurant. I would return.
