| Knowl-Wood Restaurant | Fullerton, CA | |
|
This place is right across the street from the train station.
The food here is great. This is a spin off of the Anaheim location
which is almost a legend. Great hamburgers, a nice complete menu.
Not a fast food place, but a hamburger restaurant that takes time
to do things right.

| Dennys Restaurant | Fullerton, CA | |
|
Dennys is average all the way around. Their breakfast is by far
the best meal they serve. But their lunch and dinners go from average
to awful at times. They have perfected the technique of destroying
steaks. The service is experienced and good.

| Carls Jr. Restaurants | Fullerton, CA | |
|
Normally I don't care for the production line type fast food places,
but Carl's is in a class by itself. They use fresh ingredients
(no mystery meat in their burgers). They are clean, and have plenty
of parking. You can drive through or go inside. If you go inside,
they have a modest salad bar which can make for a nice meal or meal
accompianment. The food is excellent, and the prices affordable
for a young family on a budget. Try their "Baked Potatoes".

| El Torito Mexican Restaurant & Cantina | Fullerton, CA | |
|
This is a popular chain of Mexican restaurants with very good
food. However, they are now being bought out by Alcapulco who
will retain the El Torito label, but improve the menu. El Torito
has a very festive atmosphere always, and is a great place for
the famly. The service is good and helpful at all times.

| Ozz | Buena Park, CA | |
|
While the food here is reputed to be good. Visitors to Southern
California need to be made aware that this is basically a "Gay"
restaurant, not that this should keep one away, they won't be
attacked, but families visiting Knott's Berry Farm need to be
aware.

| Home Town Buffet | Buena Park, CA | |
|
This is not a production line type buffett where you have to wait
for the person in front of you to make their decision. This buffet
sets the foods out on islands which are equally accessable from
either side. The food is always fresh and warm (except those items
that don't need to be like jello, salad, etc.) The management
always does everything possible to make your stay enjoyable.
They rotate their entrees on a daily basis.

| Ventanas | Buena Park, CA | |
|
Very average, and if you factor in the fact that the prices are
"Hotel" type prices, there are other places that would be much
more attractive in luring away your money. Stuart Andersons
is across the street and serves better steaks (for instance)
for slightly less. But there will always be those who don't want
to venture out of their hotel. I have eaten here only when my guests
insist.

| Thai-Rama Restaurant | Fullerton, CA | |
|
Authentic Thai food, this is not "watered down, Americanized"
Thai food. If you want to try something very special, this is it.
They are open Mon - Sat 11:00AM to 9:00PM (Closed Sun). They also
offer take out. The food is excellent.

| Norms Restaurant | Anaheim, CA | |
|
This place is incredible. They serve good food, not great food.
They have good service, but not great service. There is nothing
outstanding about the restaurant, but anytime during the day
when you go by it, there are people standing outside waiting to
be seated. They relocated this place when they widened the I-5
freeway, it almost caused a riot at city hall. There is no place
in Orange County that has such loyal patrons. Their menu is very
ordinary (for a family restaurant), yet they draw the crowds.
Breakfast is the best meal here, but plan on waiting to get in.
They are open 24 hours, so you can get breakfast early.

| Dennys Restaurant | Anaheim, CA | |
|
I have only eaten breakfast at this location. But they are close
to a freeway off ramp and seem to draw a lot of homeless people who
wander in to use the restrooms. They have a Baskin Robbins Ice
Cream corner in this location. The food is good, and the service
is very experienced (like 50 years average per server). But it
is a place to get a meal at a very reasonable price.

| National Sports Grill | Fullerton, CA | |
|
It's a sports bar, so if you're into noise, cheering and good times
as well as good food and fun, this is the place. Not a good spot for
a quiet, romantic, intimate dinner. Not a good place to hold a
serious conversation. But a place to eat good food and cheer wildly.

| Andrews Burgers | Anaheim, CA | |
|
This place makes some of the messiest and best tasting burgers
in town (along with Ted's). You get your money's worth. The food
is strictly fast food with lots of grease. But it tastes really
great once in a while to eat one of their burgers with some fries.
They have a great Hot Pastrami Sandwich that is jammed with Pastrami
and tastes great. No waiters here, you place your order and wait
for your number to be called.
|
||
| Apollo Burgers | Anaheim, CA | |
|
I don't like Apollos as well as Andrews or Teds, but they do serve
good food here. Strictly fast food. They have a good sauce on their
hamburgers. Their fries seem a little greasier than most for
some reason. But it is still a good place when you want a burger
that isn't production line like the Burger Kings or McDonalds.

||
| Bakers Square Restaurant and Pie Shop | Anaheim, CA | |
|
There are so many family dining chains in the area. But this one
stands out because they try harder with an inventive menu and
some new specials from time to time. The service is very good,
and the quality of the food is a cut above the normal family dining
places. This is a good break for families visiting Disneyland
and the Hotel areas high prices, it's just down Harbor Blvd. a
short bit. You'll be rewarded with good food at an affordable
price.

| Cocos Bakery & Restaurant | Anaheim, CA | |
|
Coco's is what a family dining type restaurant should be. They
have great food, a wonderfully varied menu (sandwiches, salads,
burgers, and entrees), good service and pleasant atmosphere.
Some of their meals could easily be sold for more than they charge,
that's the high quality they have. And now that they have hired
a new head chef from a luxury hotel, they will improve on that also.
This is a great place.
