| Jims Burger | Buena Park, CA | |
|
Here is one of those burger stands that serves a wonderfully messy
burger. The messier the better. But it's there pastrami sandwiches
that are a winner. You can't go wrong here if you want an old fashioned
messy, tasty burger.

| Acapulco Mexican Restaurant | Cerritos, CA | |
|
This is the finest Mexican restaurant chain in the entire southwest
(and some northwest locations). But don't go here for the normal
tamales, enchiladas, burritos et. al. Try the innovative dishes
like "Tequila Lime Chicken (or Shrimp) Fajitas" or "Enchiladas
stuffed with Shrimp". There is always something new on their
menu. You don't have to have your entree with "Refried Beans",
try "Frijoles Negros" or "Frijoles Charros". Look for discount
coupons in the local Sunday papers, they give you a second entree
for $1.49. Visit their website to see what new items will be on
the menu.

| Carls Jr. Restaurants | Orange, CA | |
|
Normally I don't care for the production line type fast food places,
but Carl's is in a class by itself. They use fresh ingredients
(no mystery meat in their burgers). They are clean, and have plenty
of parking. You can drive through or go inside. If you go inside,
they have a modest salad bar which can make for a nice meal or meal
accompianment. The food is excellent, and the prices affordable
for a young family on a budget. Try their "Baked Potatoes".

| El Pollo Loco | Orange, CA | |
|
The best fast food chicken around. Their chicken is flame broiled.
They serve it in a variety of ways. Their salsa bar is terrific,
and the combination plates are a lot of food. Good food all around,
quick service, they offer drive through service and many healthy
items on the menu.

| Teds Burger | Orange, CA | |
|
The messier a burger is the better it tastes. They make wonderfully
messy burgers here. This is typical of the fast food burger houses.
Not fine dining, but pretty good food. And it's about the only
place to eat in the entire neighborhood.

| Little Joe Restaurant | Orange, CA | |
|
The cuisine is South American, but they specialize in Italian
food. The food is pretty good, the service is good. Nothing is
outstanding here, just good. Open Mon-Thurs for lunch from 11:00am
to 3:00pm. Dinner is served 7 days a week from 5:00pm to 9:30pm
Mon-Thurs and all day Saturday. Sunday hours are for dinner only
from 11:30am to 9:30pm. They sometimes will have dancing and
entertainment on the weekends.

| Peppinos Italian Restaurant | Orange, CA | |
|
This place serves the best veal dishes in Orange. They serve a
wide variety of pasta, chicken, veal and seafood. They have both
booths and tables. They are open seven days from 11:00am to 9:30pm
(Sun-Thurs) and 10:30pm (Fri-Sat).

| Pancho's Granada Mexican Food | Orange, CA | |
|
One of the better Mexican restaurants in all of Orange County.
They do the best job on steaks (carne asada, steak tampaquena,
and others). They make everything fresh. The service is friendly
and efficient.

| Mick's at Underground | Atlanta, GA | |
|
We were in Atlanta with a lot of expectations to try different
places. This was the first one we tried and kept coming back. They
have two locations downtown, this one and one next to the food
court near the Hyatt. The service is just plain outstanding.
The food is good, a little skimpy on the quantity, but very great
on the quality. What a great place to visit. Take the Marta to "Five
Points", go to the underground and there you are.

| Hard Rock Cafe | Atlanta, GA | |
|
The Hard Rock Cafe is the same whether it's in London, Las Vegas,
Honolulu or Atlanta. The place is noisy, that's for sure. The
food is good (have only had sandwiches in any of them), the service
is consistently friendly. But again it is noisy and definitely
not a place for an intimate dinner or lunch. There is one thing
for certain, you know before you go in what the food is and what
to expect. We always manage to visit one of them (and that's quite
a few over the years).

| Outback Steakhouse | Garden Grove, CA | |
|
The food here is excellent, but there are so many really top notch
steakhouses in the area that you don't have to pay the higher rices
for the smaller portions that you find here. A lot of steakhouses
tend to be noisy and this one is no exception. It is noisy and somewhat
rowdy, but fun. It is worth the visit, since the food is good, the
service is good, and it is a great place for the family. This is
their newest location in Orange County so they don't have help
that really comfotable yet with the menu or the restaurant.

| Omega Drive-In | Orange, CA | |
|
Sometimes a good "greasy" burger just tastes good. Omega is one
of those great places for burgers and fries. It's more of a take
out place, but they do have space for sit down dining. The food
is good for the type of place it is, "a Burger House".

||
| The Sundried Tomato Cafe & Catering Company | Orange, CA | |
|
You can only eat here if you feel adventuresome. They do not carry
anything on their menu that isn't innovative and unusual. Their
menu reads like a gourmet annual report. Things like "Lamb Burger
with Aoli Sauce, Red Onion, Tomato, and Gorgonzola Cheese".
They border on fine dining here, but consider themselves strictly
California Cooking (I'm a native Californian who is 61 years
old and I have never eaten like this). But you have try new things
in life and there are some really great things here.

| Rookies Restaurant & Pub | Orange, CA | |
|
This is another of the growing number of sports bars who serve
food. Their range is like the others Pizza, Burgers, Pasta, Chicken
Entrees, Steak and Salads. Open 7 days from 11:00. They close
at 11:00 Sun - Thurs and at 1:00am on Fri - Sat. They serve a Sunday
Brunch Buffet during football season.
