| Casa Bonita | Denver, CO | |
|
Casa Bonita deserves two ratings: one for food, and one for atmosphere.
As far as food goes, Casa Bonita is not good. All the cheese is velveeta type cheese. The green chile is not green chile (it's like green chile, but not). To put it bluntly, their food reminds me of the "bad food" days in elementary school. Overall I would rate their food one star (be aware that I'm picky about mexican food). However, their sopapillas are good. The atmosphere balances out the scale. Casa Bonita is unlike any restaurant I have ever been in. You can eat in any of a number of wonderful theme dining areas. The mine, banquet hall, mexican plaza, cavern, and more. And inside the restaurant is a waterfall/cliff with cliff divers. It is an experience not to be missed that rates five stars in my book. My advice: go to Casa Bonita, be aware that the food is not the greatest and load up on salad and tortillas and save plenty of room for sopapillas, and after your meal be sure to get up and walk around and enjoy the star of the Casa Bonita, Casa Bonita itself. |

| The Fort | Morrison, CO | |
|
The Fort draws you inside it's warm adobe walls, and embraces you in an atmosphere
of fine dining blended with authentic old-west decore. The delicious signature
entrees share that same blend.
A typical diner comprises of salad, home made muffins, rolls, and flat breads,
followed by the entree. A tasty appetizer may be added for those with large
appetites.
The entrees themselves are delicious. The buffalo filet is not to be missed.
Also available is elk, ostrich, and beef. And those who have developed the
taste for it can order Rocky Mountain Oysters. There is one vegetarian entree
on the menu that looks pretty good, by I haven't managed to work my way around
to it yet.
Great food, great atmosphere, great location, great view, great service.
I highly recommend The Fort.

| Kokoro | Denver, CO | |
|
I love this place. The price is right and the food is good.
For those of you intimidated by the parking in front, go around to the back.
There's plenty of space back there.
And if you're in the mood for desert after dinner, a Dairy Queen is just two
doors two doors down.

| La ZEEZ Restaurant & Cafe | Denver, CO | |
|
The food here is great. Falafal, gyros, babaganush, humus, stuffed grape
leaves, and more, with baklava for desert. Generous portions should satisfy
just about any appetite.
The decor is simple and minimal, so don't come here for a first date

| Poppies Restaurant | Denver, CO | |
|
I have never been dissapointed by the food at Poppy's. The menu is a broad selection of americana, with a few items that I haven't been able to find anywhere else.
My favorite is the Egg's Guillermo (I hope I spelled that right).
The dining room may be a little dark, and the small sports bar near the entrance
may be a bit of a distraction, but I recommend Poppy's if you want a better than
average meal at an affordable price.

| Beau Jo's | Idaho Springs, CO | |
|
Beau Jo's is a nice restaurant, and the napkin art on the walls is priceless,
but in my opinion their pizza isn't much better than anyone else's. Maybe
I'm just not a pizza connoisuer, but a few extra toppings and sauces on the
menu doesn't impress me.
However, if you want to enjoy pizza in a warm restaurant setting, Beau Jo's
is a good choice.

| Corona Street Grill | Dillon, CO | |
|
The Corona Street Grill has very good food, and is in a nice location. On warm
afternoons and evenings you can eat out on the patio and enjoy the fresh mountain
air.
The Corona Street Grill also has a good sports bar. However, the sports bar
can be a distraction if you want an intimate dining experience.

| Gasho Of Japan | Englewood, CO | |
|
This is how Beni Hana's should be. Your food is cooked to perfection right
at your table. And the atmosphere and decor are outstanding. And after diner
you can take a relaxing walk through the japanese garden behind the restaurant.

| Harvest Restaurant & Bakery | Englewood, CO | |
|
If you're a vegetarian, or a person who likes healthy food that tastes great,
The Harvest is the place for you.
The majority of the entrees on their menu are vegetarian, and there are even
a small number of vegan entrees.
If you're put off by vegetarian food, don't let that keep you away from The
Harvest. Most of the entrees are full of flavor (though I honestly wouldn't
recommend the burritos). And meat can be added to many of the entrees.
Try the scrambled tofu or the basque pie.

| Armando's | Englewood, CO | |
|
In my opinion Armando's has the best pizza in Denver, hands down.
|
||
| Dick's Hickory Dock | Evergreen, CO | |
|
This is my favorite BBQ restaurant in the Denver area. Heck, it's one of my
favorite restaurants period. Yes, it's a bit of a drive on a narrow winding
road, but it's worth the trip.
Dick's Hickory Dock is not what you would expect of a restaurant that specializes
in BBQ. It's small and cozy and doesn't have that big restaurant feel. Service
is friendly and warm. And it definitely has that mountain restaurant feel.
In warmer weather seating outside is available.

| Happy Cooker | Georgetown, CO | |
|
The Happy Cooker is a very "mom's" type of restaurant, with just a touch of
a victorian feel. The menu is varried and the food is good.
During the tourist season the place is usually packed (especially at lunch
time). But the food and service are worth the wait (tip: get your name on the
waiting list, find out how long you'll have to wait, do some window shopping,
and come back a few minutes early).

| Firehouse Bar & Grill | Denver, CO | |
|
The Firehouse lives up to it's name by serving some of the spiciest southwestern
style food in Denver (try the Habenero salsa, I dare you
|
||
| Griff's Burger Bar | Denver, CO | |
|
I don't know why Griff's is listed as a bar, because it isn't. It's a privetly
owned fast food burger joint.
The burgers are better than your average fast food place.
|
||
| Jason's Deli | Denver, CO | |
|
The atmosphere may resemble a cafeteria, and the decor is minimal, but the
food is great.
Jason's Deli has a long menu, sure to satisfy any taste. And if you like muflata,
Jason's Deli can't be beat. And the complimentary ice cream cone with every
meal doesn't hurt either.
|
||
| Jerusalem Restaurant | Denver, CO | |
|
Great mid-eastern food at a price that's hard to beat. Jerusalem's only competition
is La Zeez, except that Jerusalem's food is a little better.
Jerusalem's only has one downside: it's a little cramped. If you're tall
like me, or a large person, you might want to order out.
|
||
| The Old Spaghetti Factory | Denver, CO | |
|
The food is great and the price is right. The spaghetti with mizithra cheese
is my favorite. And I highly recommend the creamy pesto salad dressing.
As Mike said, it gets a little crowded at times. Let's face it, it's good food
at a very good price. Families take advantage of that. If you want to avoid
the kids :) go on a week night and get there early when the doors open.
|
||
| Dillon Dam Brewery | Dillon, CO | |
|
It's a mainly a microbrewery and a sports bar, but they do have a surrounding
dining area.
I've only eaten there once with my family, but everyone enjoyed their meal.
|
||
| Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant | Dillon, CO | |
|
It's small, and the booths are right next to the bar. But, if you're a true mexican
food afficianado, you'll be pleasently suprised.
|
||
| El Ranchito | Englewood, CO | |
|
It's not much to look at, but the food is good, and it's *very* inexpensive.
While the decor is minimalist, it is clean and bright.
