I went here with my bus group and was a little disappointed. I was given
a certain price per person and then when we got there, they added another
15% for the tip. That was supposed to be added in and come on, 15% for service
at a buffet? The food was okay, and it was laid out in different stations
so you didn't have to stand in line. I don't think we will be
back.

I own a tour company and visit many areas of the country on our adventures
to the quilt shows. A group demands different things than individuals,
but number one is the food. This was a great place to go with my group.
They served us family style. We are always in a hurry to get in and out
and try to do that in an hour. These guys had all the salads and drinks
ready. After about 10 minutes, they brought out the entrees. The roast
was so tasty and the chicken was just wonderful. This is a great place
because the service is great, the food is great and the ambiance adds
just a little spark! We'll be back!

I brought my tour group here when we visited the Lancaster area.
It was really really good. Lots of great tasting food - two full
size buffet bars. This is the largest restaurant I think I have
ever been in! Amish type food. You know it is a greay place when
you see the locals in here - even the Amish were here as customers.
An added "benefit" the basement level is full of gift
stuff!

I own a group travel company and go to many of the restaurants with
a busload of quilting ladies. We like good food and nice surroundings.
Maxson's had both. They overlook the Rock River and have
large windows along the back of the restaurant to see the view.
We had the buffet which was nice. Great variety, roast, stir fry,
seafood caserole, herb potatoes, rice, soup, salad and wonderful
orange rolls! Very nice.

I went here with one of my bus loads of quilting ladies. They were
happy with it. The service was fast and the bathrooms nice. We
seemed to be the only ones here and we were a group of 50 so the food
was fresh and hot. I guess they are known for their bread pudding.
I don't like it, but many on my bus do and said it was very good.
It is a lot cleaner than a lot of the buffets we have benn too.

I have stopped here many times and have always wondered what the
fuss is all about. I have always been disappointed and given them
the benefit of the doubt. The last time was last Sunday. I stopped
with my bus group of quilting ladies on our way back from a large
quilt show in Chicago. The place was busy, we had a reservation
and knew we would be in the back dining room. They didn't have
enough places set up. They served us family style and the portions
were so small. It was a bother to get them refilled. It seemed like
quite a hassle in all and the food was cold, plain and not very much.
And to top it off, they overcharged me. I don't think I will
darken their doorstep again.
