| Bistro Francais | Washington, District of Columbia | |

The best thing about this place, aside from good food, is that
it is open late ('til 3am on weekdays, 4am on weekends), something
that is rare in DC. It's a cozy Georgetown place, with lots of appealing
French bistro food. Lamb steak topped with herb butter, steak
tartare, great onion soup, or seafood pate. You can get omelets
at any time. The coq au vin was a little disappointing, but at 2am,
I can live with it.

| Le Rendez-Vous | Kenilworth, NJ | |

This is one of my favorite places! The food is always great, the
staff are friendly and helpful, the decor is kind of arty and fun.
Lunch is cheaper than dinner, and the food changes with the seasons.
This is a guaranteed good meal!

Excellent selection of appetizers, salads, and sandwiches
with tasty pizza and high quality and delicious dinners. They
have the best wings in town. Staff is dressed in medevil attire
and are very friendly and good looking! Exciting night club after
10pm as well - usually a packed house on the weekends.

| Redwood Park | San Francisco, CA | |

"This dramatic, long-anticipated restaurant is finally open,
with chef George Marrone (of Fifth Floor and Aqua fame) at the
helm." "The restaurant, on the ground floor of the Transamerica
Pyramid, features a two-in-one concept. The main floor, called
Redwood Park Down, is the more formal room, with dramatic larger-then-life
paintings by Mark Keller. Marrone's menu offers a mix of his modern
French cuisine along with tableside preparations such as Caesar
salad and crepes suzette. The downstares menu is served at the
bar and casual restaurant a few steps up from the main floor, but
a separate kitchen also prepares the likes of grilled sand dabs
and fries cooked in duck fat served with foie gras or anduille
aioli." Wow, who is going to eat there first?

| El Mirador | San Antonio, TX | |
|
This is the real deal. For a town that prides itself on it's Mexican
food, I think think this place stands out. I've never had bad food
here. There are your typical Tex-Mex style dishes. But also some
unusual and gourmet ones as well. The soups are outstanding-like
homemade. They do lots of diffent styles of sauces you don't normally
see in a Mexican place, like tamarind sauces. The seafood enchiladas
are outstanding. Actually, all their seafood is good. This is
where I take out of towners.

| Paragon | Burlingame, CA | |
|
"The literal-minded will have high expectations of a place called
Paragon, and chef John Fuente is no slouch. It's not perfection,
but a recent coq au vin, redolent of thyme, and brasied short ribs
dotted with carmelized pearl onions left little room for improvement.
It's a tossup as to which is a bigger treat: the kitchen's fudge-ladled
expresso profiteroles or the mixologist's triple-olive martini."

| Monx Restaurant | Pasadena, CA | |
|
New California Style Cuisine on N. Lake, where nothing is over
$20 bucks. The Equadorian Shrimp Ceviche is great with a "secret"
family topping. The Halibut special and Rack of Lamb is very good.
Wines are very reasonably priced with an unusual collection
from Argentina. The place is very busy on Friday and Saturday
evening as they offer live jazz music. I've tried Cafe Bizou,
but I think this is better.

| High Jackers Restaurant | Bunnell, FL | |
|
The food and service are outstanding. There is a 1600 sq foot open
air deck over looking the runway where you can sit and watch the
planes. The atmosphere is South Pacfic with a cooper top bar.
The added tropical plants on the runway side give a nice Island
feel.
Extensive beer and wine list. They have 11 beers on tap, which includes a great selection of imported beers. My personal favorites are the Kabobs: Steak, Chicken, Scallop, Shrimp or veggie all served with Black Beans & Rice or Fries. They have the best selection of salads in the area. |

| Daimatsu | Mountainside, NJ | |
|
I have been eating at Daimatsu for maybe 10 years now and I still
think it's the best sushi for miles!
It's BYOB and they will store your bottle of sake for a few months. It gets crowded on weekends. Closed Mondays. |

| Puck Fair | New York, NY | |
|
Just happened upon this place! What a find. Now I read that it was
voted Best New Bar by citysearch.
Puck Fair is just the right mix of trendy and friendly. A long high-ceilinged place that spans the block between Lafayette and Crosby south of Houston. Live music wonderful atmosphere and a short menu of simple comfort food. Try the pot pie with side salad--I thought it was delicious. Lots of beers on tap. Strangers at the bar actually talked to one another! Probably just like they do in Ireland. |
