| Daisy Mae's Steak House | Tucson, AZ | |
|
this restaurant has a slightly less cowboy influence than more
common steakhouses in this area. the quality of meat used is much
higher than average, using a grade a angus beef rather than a grade
b that is more common. I interviewed the owner to find out about
his feel of how his restaurant is different than competitors.
the atmosphere could have a more homey appeal, but the bar does
include a big screen tv and several other sets for a comfortable
stop on the way home from work. steak orders are accompanied by
bread and beans, neither of which are anything to jump for joy
over. the flavor and tenderness of the steakes is noticable,
however, and should be tried at least once by those that enjoy
an outdoor grilled slab of meat.

| McMahon's Steakhouse | Tucson, AZ | |
|
this is a very high quality steakhouse with an ey opening wine
selection and impeccable service. the atmosphere is very clean,
quiet, and comfortable, and is more suited for an elegant to semi-elegant
night out than an evening with the kids. the restaurant is very
attentive to patrons, and each table will see no less than 4 separate
servers/server helpers by the end of the night. glasses are promtly
filled before they are emptied and crumbs are removed as they
fall to the table. the food is very tasty and the steaks are unbeatable.
bring enough money because you can expect to spend $80-100 for
dinner for two. a great choice if you are looking to make a good
first impression.

this reataurant has good quality food for and affordable price.
the setting is in the quiet outskits of tucson, and plenty of large
windows allow you to take in the beautiful mountain landscape
while you wait for your food. help is friendly and the local wildlife
will most likely stop by at sunset. an ejoyable casual place.

authentic mexican cuisine and very affordable. food is good
quality and very ample portions for even those with big appetites.
atmosphere is clean and informal, and has a traditional mexican
appeal. a good choice for a quick stop on the way home or a comfortable
night out with only a few bucks to spend. catering available.

| Mcgraws Cantina | Tucson, AZ | |

decent quality steaks and good portions. a cowboy atmosphere
as most steakhouses in the area. i did not have a problem with the
service, though it could not possibly compare to McMahon's across
the street. steaks are accompanied by beans and bread, both of
which i found apetizing, though i have a distaste for ranch style
beans. a good restaurant, though prices may be a bit high for what
you expect when you walk through the door.

i have made a honest attempt at trying every steakhouse in Tucson
and have plenty of opportunity in my 20 years in the local area.
the food here is average for a typical steakhouse in the area.
the steaks have always been cooked just right, despite the moderate
quality. the menu lacks options when it comes to sides, and hopefully
you like baked beans because that's all you can get with your meat.
the bread tastes like it is off the shelf of a local supermarket
and the salads are barely more than a bowl of chopped lettuce.
the atmosphere of a ghost town setting is unmatched in the local
area and the restaurant is a must see for first-time tucsonans
and tourist, but don't halt your search for a great steak here,
there's much better in our town.
