| Trout Street Bar & Grill | Port Aransas, TX | |
|
Located at the end of 361 which turns into Alister St. in
Port Aransas, this has got to be one of the finer restaurants
in the city. We have eaten there 6 or 7 times in the last 4
years of visiting the Corpus Christi area for vacation. We
have always had a great experience each and every time we have
been there. We were seated immediately at 11.30A, the waiter
Zak
was there right away to ask for a drink order. About 2 min later
he was back with the drinks. We ordered appetizers that Zak brought
to the table about 5 min later. We ordered the Crab Cakes. These
were so good that we ordered a second plate of them. The service
was
fantastic, food excellent, and the atmosphere awesome with
the
marina and the ship channel at a close view of the patio.
We would like to recommend the Clam Chowder, Fried and
Peel and Eat Shrimp.
If he is still there, request Zak as you waiter. You can't go
wrong.

| Cool River Cafe | Irving, TX | |
|
Right in the heart of Las Colinas, this place matches right up
with Ruth Chris and Del Friscos. However, if you don't like cigar
smell this is not for you!

| Empress of China Valley Ranch | Irving, TX | |

I've been completely satisfied with the food and the delivery
service from this establishment. The food (especially the sweet
and sour chicken and the pork fried rice) is great! If you call
for delivery, go strait through them and save the 4 bucks you would
spend calling Home Delivery Network.

| Humperdink's - Las Colinas | Irving, TX | |
|
Located just south of the Las Colinas clock at O'Connor and SH114
in Irving this is by far the best Humperdinks in the Metroplex.
Lots of fun, great food, and good drink await you here. Try the
Filet Mignon, the flavor and the tenderness will make you want
to go back for more. The Sunday Brunch is also one of the best with
omlettes made to order and lots of sweet desserts!

| Jinbeh | Irving, TX | |

What can I say. I've been to alot of cook at your table Japanese
restaurants and this one has to set aside to the rest. The food
was good just as in most of the japanese restaurants I have visited,
but, the atmosphere was not what I would expect. I like Japanese
people cooking at my table. It would add to the enviroment.

| Raneri's | Irving, TX | |
|
Located in Valley Ranch, at Valley Ranch Pkwy and N. MacArthur,
this is one of 3 Italian restaurants in Valley Ranch. This place
is a quiet place to take business clients for lunch, or visitors
for a quiet evening out. This is one of the up scale restaurants
is Valley Ranch. I had the Filet, and it was scrumptous. Real linens
on the tables, and lots of clutter on the tables. They offer lobster
and your normal Italian dishes. Out of the 3 in Valley Ranch, I
would vistit this one last.

| Texas Bar and Grill | Irving, TX | |
|
Located across from mustang square in Las Colinas, the is a good
place for happy hour after work if you work in Las Colinas but not
a place you would go out of your way for. This is just a local bar
and grill in the heart of the business district comparable to
chilis and bennigans.

| Executive Surf Club | Corpus Christi, TX | |
|
My wife and myself have been going to Corpus on vacation for over
15 years. We always went to the water st. rest. to eat lunch or dinner,
and we always saw the Exective surf club and thought it would be
a nice place to go sometime when we were down there. As soon as we
walked in the front door, my wife said, executive what, this is
a dive! We stood there for about a minute, and a bar tender came
up and said, "Just sit anywere", if ya need anything just come
up to the bar. Ok enough about that. We had the best greasy burger
you could get (next to a stuckeys) and I can't tell you how good
it was. We ate, and we left. service was lousy, the atmosphere
was lousy, but the burger was good. Dont make the same mistake
we made and think this a nice place!

| Sportsman's Club Bar and Grill | Grapevine, TX | |
|
We arrived at the 'complex' and did not see a sign to direct us to the Sportsman's
Club Bar and Grille. The reason for our visit was to watch game 1 of the World
Series. (I'm a huge baseball fan.) Finally, we found the Sportsman's Club
and then we were standing in the restaurant entrance 'waiting to be seated'
as the sign instructed. Within a short time (less than three minutes) we were
greeted by a Manaager and we asked for a table for two, smoking. He asked us
to wait while he cleaned off a table and then we were seated, with no menus.
Our waitress came to our table approximately ten minutes later to ask what
we needed. We asked for a menu. After waiting for some time for our menu, our
waitress came by our table and said 'I'm still working on those menus.' By
the way, I might mention that she was the ONLY waitress at the time. Shortly
afer this, one of the Managers (Keith) came by our table to bring us a menu.
After looking over the menu, the items seemed very unusual for a 'sports bar'.
Come on, a turkey sandwich with CRANBERRY CHUTNEY AND CREAM CHEESE? This
may be a great Hotel restaurant, but not a great sports bar.
We ordered the warm dungness crab and bacon appetizer. It was good. We had orignally planned to eat an entree, but by that time, we were ready to LEAVE!! We have been to a sports bar with audio speakers at each position so that the appropriate game coule be heard. It is a great concept. This place had battery operated units on the table that had poor reception. This place might be okay for a Sunday afternoon with chips and hot sauce; but for serious sports or just a great bar, this is not it. |
