| New York Pizza | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Very good for pizza, but best for subs. The veggie sub is one you've
got to try, even if you're not really into vegetables. The spice
is great, and the veggies seem very fresh. The prices are a little
high, but the taste is worth it.

| Moneer's Garden Deli & Grill | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Great place for an extremely casual, laid-back meal. Almost
the entire seating area is outdoors behind the restaurant, in
a kind of bistro setting, so it's great in the fall or spring. Greek
food, and more authentic than you'll find a lot of other places.
Food has always been very good, and very quick. Prices are cheap,
and you can bring your dog - they'll even give your dog a treat!

| Forest Park Deli & Catering | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Fun to hang out in, around the bar - not really busy in the afternoon,
and the bartenders are fun. Food is not very creative, mostly
salads and sandwiches, but the wait is not too long and the prices
aren't too expensive. Good for a fairly quick lunch.

| Lovoy's Italian Restaurant | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Staple of Italian restaurants in the Birmingham area - has been
around for years, and you can tell that by looking at the inside
of the restaurant. Very small, very crowded, and the food is not
terribly original, but it's not bad. Go early on the weekends,
though, because the place fills up pretty quickly. The staff
is very nice.

| Bogue's Restaurant | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Meat-and-three - very quick, very cheap, and very fast. What
better to look for in a lunchtime restaurant? The place fills
up quickly at lunch, so go early or late. Food is filling, and pretty
good.

| Naji's Pita Gourmet Restaurant | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Good Greek pitas - the hummus is thick and tasty, and the pita chips
have always been freshly made. Gyros are big and tasty, and the
service is very fast, especially on take-out orders.
|
||
| Out Takes | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Good place for take-out orders - fills up very fast during the
lunch rush. Our company picks up lunch from Out Takes every staff
meeting. The salads are filling, and the sandwiches are very
good. They give you a lot of food for not very much money, and the
fixings always seem fresh. The Southwestern black bean wrap
is excellent!

| Mauby's Restaurant | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Save up your money before you eat here, and be willing to spend
a lot, but it's worth it. The food is excellent, and wonderfully
prepared, and the service is extremely attentive without being
bothersome. Wine list is extensive, and the bar service is very
good. Fairly laid-back attitude for a higher class restaurant
around here, so it's a great splurge.

| Taco Casa | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Not very crazy about this place - last time I went the food did not
seem very fresh (tortillas). Service was slow, although there
were not very many people there. Food besides the tortillas was
not bad, though.

| Costa's Famous Bar-B-Que | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Excellent food! You have to be willing to get a little messy, and
everything drips with grease (what better way to cook Southern
food?), but the taste is absolutely wonderful. Best bet is the
barbeque baked potato.
|
||
| Chase Pub & Grille | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Better place to hang out than to eat - the sandwiches and cheese
dips are not bad, but you have to watch out for the chicken fingers
- they tend to burn them. Service is adequate, but the atmosphere
makes up for it.

||
| Tin Roof BBQ | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Best BBQ I've ever tasted! The smoked chicken, especially, is
unlike and WAY better than any you've ever had before. They are
extremely family-friendly, and seem to regard the kids as regular
customers, unlike most other restaurants we've been to. The
kids even ask specifically to come back here!

| Mill Bakery Eatery & Brewery | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Best in Birmingham for pasta dishes - they're famous for them,
and there's good reason why. The beers are very good as well - the
stout is my personal favorite. The service tends to be a little
slow when they're crowded, but dining outside on a cool fall night
is not to be missed.
|
||
| Stix Restaurant | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Excellent place for Japanese - the service does tend to be a little
slow, but the sushi makes up for it. Smoked salmon and spicy tuna
are definitely the best, although I haven't had bad sushi there
yet. Have only gone for dinner, and they've forgotten my sushi
order a couple of times. The food's worth it, but be prepared to
be there for a while.
|
||
| Hamburger Heaven | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Great place for burgers, but was disappointed by the fries - you
get a lot of them, but the taste isn't what I was hoping for. The
burgers and shakes are great, though - although you will wait
a long time in line just about any time. Price is good, for when
you want a change from McDonalds.

||
| Los Compadres Mexican Rstrnt | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Not as impressed as all my friends by this place - last time I was
there was for lunch, and the food all seemed to be in a puddle in
my plate. Not a very attractive sight. Prices are reasonable,
but just didn't care much for the food.
|
||
| Lloyd's Restaurant | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Don't know why everyone is crazy about this place - the food was
mediocre, and the service was not very fast whatsoever. The prices
are very reasonable, but the whole restaurant didn't seem very
clean, and the food was bland, at best.
|
||
| Irish Deli | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Have to try the corned beef there, even if you don't usually like
it - very authentic preparation of the food, and small enough
to have a "Cheers"-like quality to it. Beer prices are good, and
you can find a lot of the Irish beers that are hard to find elsewhere
in the city.
|
||
| Formosa Chinese Restaurant | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Great place for Chinese - the portions are huge, and the food always
tastes very fresh. The kung pao chicken is my favorite, and they'll
reduce or add to the spice as you wish. The mixed drinks are also
very good, and reasonably priced.
|
||
| Pancho & Charlie's | Birmingham, AL | |
|
Excellent place to go if some of your party wants BBQ and the rest
want Mexican. Very, very family-friendly, and the food is absolutely
wonderful. Some of our friends didn't care as much for the North
Carolina-style BBQ, but everyone raved about the Mexican. The
chile rellenos are among the best I've tasted, and the beer is
pretty darn cheap. The service is also very fast and friendly.
Would recommend it to anyone!
