| Ryan's | Clarksville, TN | |
|
This was Ryan's Family Steakhouse, then became Fire Mountain
several years ago. Now, it is simply Ryan's. This is our favorite restaurant. The food is always outstanding, the
service is excellent, and the people here are truly great! Senior hours
are 1 to 3 PM weekdays, and the price for seniors then is $5.99 for the
meal including the drink. WONDERFUL food, both on the bars and off the
grill cooked to your specifications. Sirloin steaks are grilled every
night and are GREAT! The desert bar has the most marvelous creations
you have ever tried. And EVERYTHING is included in the low buffet price.
Do NOT miss this one, folks!

| Ryan Family Steak House | Saint Bethlehem, TN | |

This restaurant is in Clarksville, not Saint Bethlehem. It became
Fire Mountain several years ago, and now is Ryan's. It is a GREAT place to eat, but folks may miss it due to the name being changed

| Shiloh Barbecue | Cumberland Furnace, TN | |

They have a nice dining area with a mervelous view, but we have only had
cary-out from here. It is THE BEST barbecue in the area, bar none!

| Fire Mountain | Clarksville, TN | |
|
This restaurant has changed names; it is now Ryans once again. This
is a corporate decision involving all Fire Mountain restaurants,
and is due to the name recognition of Ryans. NOTHING has changed but
the name; this is still by far the best buffet in Clarksville, and the
best value for the money as well.

| Subway | Erin, TN | |

The quality is slipping here; they are starting to worry too much about
the quantities of each toping they put on the sandwich.

| Ryan's Family Steakhouse | Bowling Green, KY | |
|
As Ryans restaurants are remodeled, they become Fire Mountain restaurant,
and there is an increase in quality and variety at the time of this change.
This Ryans has not had this change-over yet, but I find it hard to believe
that even the Fire Mountain change can improve either the variety or
the quality of the food here. It is outstanding. Clean facility, good
food, great variety, friendly people. If I look REALLY close to find
SOMETHING that could be improved, I would say the Brussel Sprouts could
have been cooked a little less. But even that is a personal taste thing.
A GREAT restaurant -

| Pizza Hut | Livingston, TN | |
|
We missed the noon buffet, so ordered off the menu. The Pizza was good,
if a bit overdone. The Mrs. had Spaghetti with marinara sauce, and it
was good. We waited while they cooked the pizzas, and when they arrived,
my friends was sausage instead of the pepperoni he had ordered. So we
waited again while they made the right one. The bill was almost $50,
which is a bit steep for lunch.
All in all, I cannot recommend this particular location.

| Subway | Livingston, TN | |
|
This is a good subway location. They were not stingy with the ingredients,
and the service was good.
Beware of the iced tea, though. It is made with local water, which has
a high iron content that gives it a bad taste -

| Ming Court Buffet and Grill | Dickson, TN | |
|
Wow!
We just tried this place, and we are both in shock!
This is the BEST restaurant anywhere in this area. The Mongolian Grill
is outstanding; he knows what he is doing. The buffet is huge, with LOTS
of selections, and everything is properly prepared. The service is
excellent. The facilities are brand new and spotless.
Don't miss this one; it will close every Chinese restaurant in
the area when the news gets out!

| King Buffet | Cookeville, TN | |
|
Overall, this is a good place to eat, but it has a few problems. The Mongolian
Grill is not properly ran; you have to add the sauces yourself to your
grill selections prior to giving them to the man running the grill,
which means the sauces are grilled right along with the food instead
of being added toward the end of the grilling process as the better grills
operate. Selection was OK, with many American dishes added due to local
taste. The rest of the food was good, the place was clean, and the service
was good.

| Cici's Pizza | Dickson, TN | |
|
This is a brand new location, and it was a real pleasure to eat lunch here
with my wife. I was a bit dissappointed that they only had about eight
varieties of pizza up when I made my first trip down the bar. On my second
trip, there were still about eight varieties - but MOST of them were
DIFFERENT that had been up just a few minutes before.
They had three varieties of salad, one with pasta, and spaghetti, for
those weird people that don;t like pizza.
A nice selection of desert pizza's also -
And the two of us, with drinks, ate for $13 and change.
This is a good one, folks -

| Appleby's Neighborhood Bar & Grill | Dickson, TN | |
|
This place was great when it first opened, but our visit yesterday was
certainly less than expected.
The service was fair at best.
The food was poor.
I had the western steak skillet for 12 bucks, and it was not very good.
My wife had the chicken salad which was HUGE, but it was not good either;
we brought it home and the dog enjoyed it. This is the first time either
of us has seen a grilled chicken salad that used refrigerated chicken;
it should be hot off of the grill, not out of the cooler. We had onion peels
for an appetizer, and they were just OK. As we considere desert, the
waitress brought us our check, layed it on the table, and said "If
you need anything else, just let me know". Bringing us the ticket
prior to asking us about desert indicated to us that she wanted the table
freed up for other customers; we had, after all, been there for 30 minutes
and had only spent $32 and change!
I have been an Appleby's fan for years, but another incident like
this will change that.

| Golden Rule | Clarksville, TN | |
|
This new restaurant opened Monday, and we went there yesterday. We
were met at the door by a greeter who came out, welcomed us, and held the
door open for us to enter. This high standard of service prevailed throughout
our lunch time there. After looking at the prices, we opted for salads.
Mine was the chipotle chicken salad for $8, my wife had the smoked shicken
salad for $7. Both were VERY good. We sampled all the sauces; all three
were very good, with the Soppin Sauce being the best.
The decor was good, the service was outstanding, and the food was among
the best.
My three star rating is due to the downsides:
The prices were high (I wanted BBQ ribs, but will not spend $18 for lunch),
the total bill for two salads, a coke and sweet tea was over $20.
There was more bar area that table area; NOT a family atmosphere.
The music was very loud and very country; NOT my idea of a pleasant way
to dine.
If you don't mind these things, it is a very good place to eat.

| Dutch Kitchen | Arcola, IL | |
|
This is an Amish restaurant, order off the menu, with a large salad bar
to go with your meal. The food was good and the prices were OK, but watch
the salad bar dishes; some of them are preserved by a fermentation process
which does not agree with some people. To put it bluntly, they taste
spoiled. I have ran into this with several Amish and Mennonite dishes,
however, so I know it is how it is SUPPOSED to taste.
The building was old, the floor's squeeked and moved a bit when
you walked, but the service was good, it was extremely clean, and the
prices were OK. I recommend this place with the above caution about
the salad dishes.

| Mcdonalds | Calvert City, KY | |
|
A good McDonalds. It was clean, the service was fast and friendly, and
the food was good.
|
||
| Amish Red Barn Buffet | Tuscola, IL | |
|
Previous experience with Amish food caused me to avoid the salad bar
completely, but the rest of the food was very good. There was a large
selection of meats, vegetables and deserts, and everything was well
prepared. The vegetable soup was the best I have ever tasted! The place
was well decorated and clean, and the service was fast and friendly.
We were there for lunch on a weekday, but the single large open room indicates
that it could get rather noisy during dinner hours and weekends when
they have more customers.
A good value for the money, I thought.

| Bob Evans Restaurants | Pekin, IL | |
|
This is my first experience with Bob Evans. The food was good, the place
was clean, and the service was fast and friendly. I could not help but
compare it to Denny's, however, and believe that Denny's
food is just as good, has larger portions, and costs less. When three
people spend $28 for breakfast, they should not leave hungry.

| Italo's | Pekin, IL | |
|
This place catered our class reunion at the Dragon's Dome last
Friday evening, and I was very impressed! The italian sausage and peppers
was very good, and the rigatoni was outstanding, the fresh rolls were
very good, and even the iced tea was special. I do not know what they charge
for meals, since the fee we paid covered other things as well, but this
is GOOD Italian food, and I am very particular about Italian!

||
| Taco Bell | Pekin, IL | |
|
We got in line behind half a dozen kids that were all placing large orders,
and paying for them with nothing but pennies, nickels, and dimes. By
the time we got to the counter, the kid was in a sweat and panting, but
he was still very friendly, fast, and efficient. The prices are good,
and the food was well prepared. We opted to get ours to go due to the overcrowding
and noise, but I rate this among the better Taco Bell locations due to
their staff.

||
| Pekin Country Club | Pekin, IL | |
|
We were here Saturday evening for my class reunion. The food was absolutely
the finest! The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was perfect
for dining, and the condition of the club was absolutely the finest.
Of course, you expect to pay for this type of service, food, and atmosphere,
and you do.
The only possible negative was portion size; I must say that I left a
bit on the hungry side, but then I admit I am basically a pig.
