My business partner was in town and I wanted to go to a restaurant we hadn\\\'t been to. When we arrived to Cafe ponte the atmosphere was nice and elegant, the pianist was really good and we all had a good time at the bar. Our table was ready so we moved over to our table. The server was very nice when she seated us and got our drink order. Once it was time to order, I mentioned we had a groupon for 4. Her facial expression changed and she pulled all the menus and gave us a separate menu, it would have been nice to keep a menu in case we wanted to order something other then the tasting courses. After we decided on our choices of cod or steak our server rarely interacted with us other then when she came to explain what the dishes were. The bread server interacted more with us then our actual server. For the service and the bland food, the groupon seemed as a scam. $150 with a $68 tip on top of that for OK food and crap service, I use to bartend in college and understand you tip on the amount before the discount but I would never tip anyone 20% for horrible service.. This just makes me weary of buying any restaurant groupons anymore and definitely makes me want to avoid cafe ponte. less

We went tonight for the first time and already have plans to take friends back next week! We were waited on by the OWNER and he could not have been more warm and friendly! THE FOOD WAS AWESOME! Can't wait to go back and try something else! We had the Portobello in Phyllo for an appetizer and the Cioppino Bowl and Chicken Piccata Bowl for entrees and it was all EXCELLENT! So very refreshing to find an owner-involved restaurant that is passionate about doing it right! TEN STARS! less

The food was served to my guests in shifts, incorrect orders, missing items such a salads. The entire dining process lasted over 3 hours by the time my last guest was served her meal. The gratuity of 20% was included in the bill. It was requested that the gratuity be removed and the manager stated that he would not do this because they are not equipped to serve a party of 12. YET THEY TOOK OUR RESERVATION. He was finally convinced to remove the gratuity. I hope that this jerk will reimburse his wait staff out of his own pocket as he promised. Do not waste your time or money on this place. less

Just be sure to ask for one of the three dining tables found directly facing the bay towards the back of the restaurant. You will need a light sweater-ladies or sports coat/light jacket-men, ... since the dining tables in the rear facing the bay have the air conditioning a bit cooler than the rest of the restaurant. On weekends they have a one-man band playing your "classic" top hits! He really added to the romantic ambiance/dining experience. Drinks: Try the rasberry lemonade martini - def winner! The calamari appetizer is unbelievably fresh and comes with two wonderfully mixed sauces. The barbecue jumbo shrimp appetizer is a "must try" if you like a zesty smoked flavor-Note: Shrimp is wraped in a very thin slice of bacon that gives the shrimp a nice punch-of-a-taste-great presentation as well! The house salads were very good but take a rain check on the salad dressing and just ask for balsamic vin. or olive oil. Oh my goodness, if you like scallops then you don't want to forego ordering from the "light entree" section of the menu the scallop meal - trust me - you will not be disappointed - the sauce is very light and buttery. Under the same "light entree" section of the menu you will also want to order the jumbo shrimp dinner meal. This dish has an amazing taste - with the red roasted peppers, asparagus and light cream sauce as the bed of the shrimp, ... the dish is divine! If your palate is savoring for sweets, then you don't want to pass on the Key Lime Pie! I've tasted many a Key Lime and theirs is by far the best - extremely light airy texture with a perfect balance of "tart and sweetness" to it! Very nice selection of wines and mixed drinks....I would highly recommend this place! Our server, Jason, was excellent as well! I will def be back to this hidden gem located inside of the Marriott Suites in Clearwater/Sand Key in the near future! less

I grew up in Clearwater so I am aware of how Shephards is known for ripping of tourist however, since I am a local I thought they would be forthright. WRONG. I should have immedicately known they were dishonest when I looked on the webiste and saw the buffet per person was 24.95 but when I spoke with Georgie to see if we could receive a group discount 21 people. He told me the buffet was 35.00 pp. After I called him out on this he recanted and told me his offer would be 24.95pp, two drinks pp, 10%off the bill, he would not charge the standard 18% gratuity and he would give us access to the night club. I explained AGAIN to him that this is a HIGH SCHOOL graduation dinner. They are underage to drink and get in the club. We agreed on the drinks, 10%, and gratuity. They took my credit card to hold the reservation. Upon arrival I check in and NO RESERVATION. After dinner and drinks I receive the bill for 700+ for 21 people and only 5 had 2 drinks each. Long story short he said he never agreed to any of this except the 10% and that the drinks were only well drinks. NEVER TOLD ME THIS ON THE PHONE. Yes I should have gotten this in writing... live and learn but I called my credit card company before leaving the parking lot and they said they would dispute it. Fortunately I had two witnesses to the phone conversation because I had him on speaker phone. Last but not least three out of my party got food poisoning. Two ending up in the hospital and one not. How embarrassing. From now on I will stick with the nicer restaurants in the areas like Island Way Grill, Rumba, and Ceviche. less

I ... more Richard T. - This restaurant has not been known as Nikki's Clam Shack for 7 or 8 years, and I am very surprised that is has not been changed in your records. It is now Rosies Clam's and has been remodeled with additional rooms and a full bar. I have only eaten at Rosie's two times, even though I personally know the owner Rosi. She is a former waitress when Nikki's was the name of the establishment. She is a very dedicated owner and attempts to provide good New England Style Fish and Ipswich Style Clams. The two times I have eaten there the food was not as good as I remembered when it was Nikki's. The lobster tails were over-cooked to the point that they were burned from grilling, and tasted burned. The clams were over-cooked and had been to the point of being dark brown. Quanity was poor and lacked the quality of the past. I decided not to return to the Resturant because I know how hard Rosie works to maintain a savory restaurant, but it takes special cooking knowledge to prepare Ipswich style clams, and her cooks lack this skill. Her servers are very qualified, and fast with assistance... I feel bad for her but I can't give the resturant a very favorable rating becuase of the food preparation. Ipswich Clams should be golden in appearance, and always using fresh oils to fry them so they become tasty and not over-cooked. The over-cooking shows a lax of experience and desire to prepare the clams properly. less
