Russ Bryant nailed it...this is classic truck stop food...only breakfast and lunch (for me there is no better breakfast spot in town...Emil Villa's Original Hickory Pit was once the best...still good but not the same). I especially love the French Toast (made with Texas Toast)...but anything you order here will be good, greasy....and as Emerile Lagasse says...you can feel the love...this is a family owned and operated business...and despite the difficulties in getting seated, it is always worth the wait.

Yes, I agree with all the others. If you're a person who likes regular american food, you get it here. It's definitely truck stop food.

San Leandro's Fifth Wheel has been in business since San Leandro Boulevard was only two lanes and was a main traffic artery. As with many other things in life, time and traffic have passed up the Fifth Wheel, but fans have continued to fill this wonderful old place. With only five table and a small counter, you might have to wait for a place to sit, but it usually is worth the effort. I like to go for breakfast, so please try to leave room for me at the counter!

This is a great place to go any time of day. Whether its breakfast, lunch, or dinner this is my favorite place to go. But it does get crowded.

Great little place that has been there since dirt! My oldest brother, now 62 years old, use to cook there in his early twenties!! On the con side, it is so small and usually very crowded, but it's worth it! You have to try it!

I can't believe that more people haven't submitted reviews for the Fifth Wheel, its been an institution in San Leandro since, well, a long time ago. This is the closest thing the area has to a real diner serving real truck-stop food.Where else can you get hashbrowns, grits, or rice, with your breakfast? The portions a re huge. Every time I have breakfast here, I feel like getting in the truck and driving 300 miles. The downsides are; they used to be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, when Wierd Harold used to run the diner, about twenty five years ago. Now they are only open for breakfast and lunch, monday to saturday. It can get quite crowded as it is small, 5 tables and a counter.
