The dark side of South Austin.

Vegetarian and whole grain menus are planned by people who must hate food - consideration is given to the perceived "healthiness" of the ingredients with no consideration for harmonious flavors and textures; Neo-hippie staff insures poor preparation, service and cleanliness.

Kerby Lane. So much to say, so little time. The food is good, but I have heard nightmare stories about the cleanlyness that goes on behind closed doors. Also, the help around there doesn't help at all. They are all on eternal vacation it seems, even though they are at work. It has a well rounded breakfast and lunch/dinner menu. So if you find your party split in half in a debate on breakfast food or the latter. Go here, otherwise I'd be wary.

Great breakfast anytime, amazing pancakes, and wonderful service for an open 24 hours cafe.

I recommend the California enchiladas. The place is good for eating anytime of day, night or morning.

Great 24 hour cafe. Pancakes are huge. I love the Kerby Chicken Sandwich (about $7) which is a chicken breast with a cream cheese/olive spread, all the veggies on a toasted wheat bun. Cobb salad is huge (about $8). I also like the spinich/artichoke/mushroom omlette.
