Note - Yank Sing has moved to 121 Spear Street (at Folsom).

I love the noise and staff rushing about on a busy afternoon at Yank Sing. The visual and aroma barrage of the constantly passing food carts does lean towards sensory overload. I like the food here, my constant companion, Barbara is less enthusiastic. She's not a fan of any Asian cuisine, so take her opinion in stride. Recent lunch was $58 for us & Barb did not eat heartily like me. I used to visit the old Battery Street location. Was the food better then? Maybe. The old place was a dot.com & banker hang-out, it was always more kinetic with happy diners than the new address. Still for variety & flavor of dim sum, Yank Sing is up there with the best places.

The dim sum is good, but a bit on the pricy side. The restaurant is quite large, but the bathroom is very small...just a few stalls...not sure why they would build a restaurant that big without a larger bathroom. It's no fun to stand in line while your dim sum gets cold.

Anyways, they have quite a variety of dim sum. I went there around 2pm on a Saturday and it was packed with carts going around quickly...there was a cart at our table before we even got the chance to sit down. The service is okay.

Bring money: two or three plates, and you're set back over $50.00 for average-at-best dim sum. If it were *worth* $50.00 a visit, that would be one thing, but. . .

I have had dim sung in Hong Kong and I would say that this was right up there, but be prepared to pay some big bucks, it is quite expensive.

This is good dim sum but it is really pricey. It does tend to cater more to the business crowd and non-Asians.

Good dim sum but it adds up so watch out or you might spend more money then you expect. But over all very clean and nice staff. The food is quite good though compared to most dim sum places.

Best overall DIM SIM in the Bay Area.....most people would agree. I've been all over the Bay Area...Ton Kiang...City View...Harbor Village...MayFlower in Milpitas an there's one right next to it that resembles typically good dim sum restaurants in Hong Kong.
I usually like going to places out in the Sunset/Richmond area....there's tons of good places out there.
If you want to spend a little more $$ with some friends, try Yank Sing. The food is less greasy, higher quality and more innovative at this SF hotspot. My friend from Hong Kong calls this place the "worse" chinese restaurant in SF!!! hmmmmmm???? my guess, not enough grease, no chicken feet, no sliced tripe bar, no bowls of tendon to start out with and no juliene pig ears. If that's how you judge a dim sum retaruant, then this place would dissapoint you.

Yank Sing's dimsum is excellent, and also very expensive. You'll enjoy it more if someone else is paying.
The takeout area is always crowded at lunchtime. Avoid it. Yes, it's inexpensive, but also a greasy mess. Very disgusting. Better to splurge occasionally on the "dine-in."

Yank Sing is a great place for lunch and for around 5.00 you can get full of not so greasy food. You can't really sit down, and the line is always out the door but great food.

The dim sum is good, but not excellent. At that price, it could be better. The fancy dim sum is nice for the first few times, but it gets old after a while. One of the top guys at Yank Sing was on the Board of Directors at where I use to work. We had our Christmas dinner there and it wasn't very good. Service is only average at Yank Sing, even the night we had our Christmas dinner.

The second best dim sum restaurant in San Francisco! Conveniently located in the lower financial district, I eat here monthly

for that "just gotta have dim sum" feeling after lunch.
Good place for you and your friends to eat -- can be very busy.

Home of the peninsula's best Dim Sum!
The food is flavorful, the service is fast and friendly (although the wait can be a bit frustrating on Sunday mornings). This is a definite addition to my list of must-repeat restaurants! I take all my friends there, and they all have nothing but similarly glowing remarks!

dim sum? you came to right place. I like this place for dimsum as I don't like too greasy food. I find it to be much less greasy that say Harbor villege. Good for business lunch as it is not too far from the financial district and it's pretty clean.

My aunts have worked at both the take-out Yank Sing and the real dim sum restaurant. Although quite a bit over-priced, their food really is delicious. If you're looking for a great Chinese restaurant, this is it.

This is a family favorite. Much fancier and more expensive than the old place on Broadway, but food remains of extremely high quality and consistency for over 25 years. Hard to compare with other places, but head and shoulders above any other Dim Sum place I've been stuck at.
